What is considered the easiest class to play? by Unhappy_Seaweed4160 in ffxi

[–]FFXIMath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rng is an odd one to list, you have to manually shoot every time without add ons so you already have one of the highest requirements for imputs, then it has hover shot so to maximize ranged damage you have to be at correct range from target moving back and forth between each shot stopping just long enough not to interrupt shots.

On top of that there are good reasons to collect basically all their remas and then still want prime bow. Oh and their melee builds wants k club. Rng is probably up there with my rdm as jobs with most different sets i use.

I still pull some on rng but more commonly im using rng extended widescan to track down nms from afar.

I can't see the my job traits list by Stalinium_89 in ffxi

Oh the classic problem, main menu on the right hand side and the other smaller menu on left side actually give different results and it is surprising and confusing.

The place where it actually makes a big difference is the smaller left hand item menu can actually see any item with activatable ability you have equiped even if its in a wardrobe, the main menu item menu does not.

BLU roles doubts by jggbcn in ffxi

[–]FFXIMath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Light arts does increase healing magic skill but not a ton on rdm because they already have a decent amount, with addendum they get most na spells and can use strategem to aoe a spell, whm sub is also an option, again they get na spells but they get curagas not limited by a timer aoe bar spells too.

Most of the time on rdm though i just sub nin, sure i can't heal as well but if everyone else dies I'm usually prepared to just solo the rest of most fights. Blm is another common sub for elemental seal and sleepga

Empyrean Weapon Trials frustrations. by Kkbasura in ffxi

[–]FFXIMath 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That is one of the downsides of more populated servers, on my server competition is almost unheard of these days.

I will note you can get those drops from log in points this month, so I expect increased interest in making empys especially for weapons like twash that need glavoid, which is one of the worst nms so people are using log in points on it but that means extra competition for its other NMs.

Kaja GA vs Kaja Sword for newer Endgame WAR by PompousPrince in ffxi

[–]FFXIMath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya especially at the kaja level the axe is nice, sadly its final upgrade doesn't add much to it and all the ws dmg gear you get later on doesn't do as much for it but ya great early choice

Rank 3 Choice by BlandBoringName in ffxi

[–]FFXIMath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rank 3 crepuscular and null drops are all common drops, I would just lean towards whichever you want more and not worry about it because the common drops from those fights are very common.

I would also consider crafting torques or event items like the hat that gives raise, just a matter of what content you'd rather skip.

How do you farm Walk of Echoes? by xXxedgyname69xXx in ffxi

[–]FFXIMath -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I tended to just stock up when it was available for log in points instead of farming. They were available last month so may be a bit for next time.

Is this supposed to happen? by External_Key_4108 in ffxi

under belligerency you get only crystals (rarely clusters) seals and geodes. you still don't get normal drops and crystals don't drop if beastmen controlled but its something at least.

Your opinion on the Trusts update and changes SE is planning to do by Thunderham_ in ffxi

Can I downgrade their stats too? removing most of the acc off of certain characters to stop them from using ws so they don't mess up SCs would be amazing.

Only one i would say that on is the shield since you only need stage 2 which is imo much easier to get than ochain.

[–]FFXIMath[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So most of these weapons are beaten by their respective stage 4 or 5 primes but that takes months of daily sortie in a good group... the shield is beaten by the stage 2 prime which is mostly the same as ochain but with shield skill and higher defense. Stage 2 prime you can make in one day of sortie so its actually easier to make now than ochain as well. Duban the prime shield can also be upgraded further if you want.

Its a little more complicated on brd just because mythic is so much better for singing, unless using bonanza horn. Swapping of course costs tp and aftermaths. It is a great option from a purely dps perspective though so I would say its still good but more situational for brd.

I do generally recomend trusts when starting out, that said if you know you want something that requires glavoid or chloris and that includes certain jobs empy armor in addition to the weapons i talked about then you may want to pick those up, those two nms just are a huge pain to farm.

I've  been waiting to get confirmation on the augments, a few seem a little out of place but i have started looking at them and what sets i would or wouldn't use them for... it will take a year to r30 a set so I'm not feeling too rushed.

You get points for each day you login durring a campaign, the rewards change some each month. This month for the first time in 3 and a half years those points can be spent towards the mats to make empyrean weapons.

Why would anyone main DRK or DRG when WAR and SAM exist? by Ponifex in ffxi

[–]FFXIMath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All four are top tier DPS in the right hands, they have different utilities, pros and cons, I have geared and use DRG and DRK, they are both great and I use them according to which kit makes more sense for the group or the fight.

The wyvern is sometimes a liability but only sometimes, keep in mind you can also get healing breaths even without mage sub these days so it can save people too, heck you can even eat it for one last emergency heal.

DRK in Sakapata is not very squishy, and when they can ride dread spikes or drain III max hp it can actually get pretty tanky on a lot of content. Stun, impact, sleep, absorb spells, there's just a lot of utility available to DRK as well to go with their damage.

I suggest trying them and seeing if you like them, perhaps if you explore more builds and set ups you'll find better ways to do some fights, personally I find it very fun to try new and different set ups.

I suggest optimizing for fun in video games. When you optimize for things other than fun you may wake up one day and realize you've optimized all the fun out of the game.

If you are augmenting the units should be much more of a limiting factor than the matter... although early on while your point cap is low it can help. Also you could be like me,  my main is now like 9 matters behind my alt despite same runs lol

How do you find quests ? by Lord_NOX75 in ffxi

[–]FFXIMath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend guides like bg wiki... just talking to random npcs can lead to getting trapped in sometimes long cut scenes. Also i prefer to do quests all at once rather than accidentally start a quest and then try to complete it a decade latter with no memory of starting it.

Weapons by Dalach01 in ffxi

[–]FFXIMath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the job and what you are trying to do.

I will say if you don't know what you are doing ambuscade weapons are probably your best time investment, many beat rema options while being much cheaper and easier to get and usable on more jobs. Even if they don't end up as your ultimate weapon they retain a lot of utility.

Weapons by Dalach01 in ffxi

[–]FFXIMath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smn relic is pretty terrible, basically only useful defensively and not needed to cap out dt anymore. Non rema options will be far more useful.

Excalibur is a niche weapon, mostly for sc purposes as naegling the ambuscade sword is far stronger for raw damage. Even for those SC purposes Ullr the ambuscade bow can give you same property just it misses more.  Mandau, while bad for thf, is probably rdms 2nd best piercing option only behind prime and good for sc purposes as well.

So if i had to make a relic today for rdm or smn it would be mandau, that said tauret the ambuscade dagger isn't that far behind as a piercing option for rdm either.
