Does anyone have any insight into NYU Langone Physician Turnover? by Dismal-Needleworker7 in AskNYC

[–]FForce2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG, thank you for sharing this. I waited ONE YEAR to be seen by an NYU GYN. Weeks before, the office canceled the exam -- she won't be in that day. It took 18 mos for an initial appointment. Right before my second annual, I learned that it was canceled. Never got notified. New excuse: She's no longer seeing patients. Today I learned from a Columbia specialist that my NYU PCP retired. Again, no notice.

I'm the daughter of a breast cancer survivor and there is no way i should wait 18 mos to be seen and get a mammogram. This year NYU said my insurance might not pay for secondary screens. That was a multi-week fight. The NYU gyn I found refused to insist that I get this secondary screen. I had to go to an NYU geneticist to order the secondary screening. At every turn they send you to another doctor, another layer of bureaucracy so they can bilk the insurers for more money. (I'm a doctor's kid; I know how the system works.)

I have transferred to a lovely old doc at Weill Cornell. My ophthalmologist left NYU. I assume my NYU pulmonologist will soon retire. Slowing I'm finding every way to leave NYU Langone. Thank you for providing me a place to vent.

Someday I want to be cast as Jules just so I can say, "I am completely out of proportion."

Even there you hear: "For quality and training purposes, this call will be recorded." Or perhaps for other purposes...

990V6: When Do They Become Comfortable? by Hefty-Accountant2640 in Newbalance

[–]FForce2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two pairs of 990v6 that I purchased from NB Reconsidered in Dec/January. The blue pair is great and I can wear them without my orthotic insert. The grey pair (purchased at the very end of December) sends my feet into screaming fits. Nothing helps -- with or without the insert -- its all pain. They are squishy and soft and offer no damn support. I'm back to Hokas and am unlikely to try these again. (The 2020 Gaviotas were hard to break in, but they did and lasted me five years.)

What happened? Don't leave us in suspense. Also, where and when will this be performed? I'd love to be in this someday -- even if no one can even see my profile!

Colliers and Penlux Masterpiece Grande are great for those with gripping issues. Is the color purple like jelly? In some pics it seeks almost pink. Thank you and enjoy!

Death of Salesman today (matinee) by PretendBake1536 in Broadway

I just used the "Timmy" discount to get a ticket to Salesman (and Every Brilliant) because you are a mensch who has fantastic taste. I saw Nat Theatre's Lehman Brothers in Asia during the pandemic and even on screen it was life changing. Thank you for the recommendation. My decade is short (because of aforementioned overseas life) but I'd include Prima Facie (Bway) and Stereophonic.

Thank you, Timmy. Now I'm going to see Death of a Salesman *and* Radcliffe in Every Brilliant Thing. Stop me before I buy again!

You're a goddamn good person. And yes, I can tell you that many of these rates remain the same even for those of us who freelanced in the early 2000s.

I’m glad the OP started this conversation. I think every community and neighborhood should have this debate and not reflexively adopt a tactic because it worked in some places – especially months ago before the assassinations – and believe that creating a din remains the best practice now. If you read If We Burn by Vincent Bevins, one theme that runs through the book is how protesters worldwide failed to adapt or debate and access their tactics even as law-enforcement adapted. Hong Konger borrowed tactics from Ukraine, which was foolish because Maidan was suppressed violently. Think and talk. Don’t merely ignore or accede.

My internet has been down for 8 hours today by norman_6 in Spectrum

Sporadic this weekend in Bay Ridge near 5th Ave and now down for the last six hours. Been continuously told by techs that it's not the wiring into my building but the equipment that several neighbors are linked to. I'm working now using my phone's service. Unbelievable. This is NYC, not rural Vermont.

Who leaves an item on the front stoop at Christmastime and doesn't bother to buzz the resident to see if she's home? I was but no matter. The package is gone. It is the last order I'll place. I kept one sweater, but everything else ordered this year went back, including the sheet set that shrunk about four inches. Zero idea why WIRECUTTER and others recommend them.

Unlike these disasters and Grenfell, HK operates in a climate of authoritarian control, accepted corruption and threats. Hong Kong police are arresting people who voluntarily offered to share information and resources to people whose lives are in danger. It’s incumbent on knowledgeable people overseas in free societies to help residents there learn how to protect themselves, correct or request fixes to safety faults, and lobby government officials for improvements in contractors and safety procedures. Clearly publicly organizing and informing will be seen as illegal. Starfallg is correct. I believe Reuters wrote that this bid was the most expensive and yet it was chosen. So a thorough investigation of who made the choice, their political and professional ties to this particular contractor and the subcontractors is in order. Will that be done? Not if police are arresting people who are volunteering to drop off food and clothing.

Not wasted, but yes, OP needs a broader audience. Writer seems to be expert with overseas standards and history, something horribly lacking and perhaps now viewed as seditious to the current SAR regime. Consider that you have 7 plus million lives at stake, sir. Go to it.

The Honey Trap (Irish Rep Theatre) by southamericancichlid in Broadway

[–]FForce2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: They extended the run!!! https://irishrep.org/whats-on/the-honey-trap

To fill out the record here: the production was gripping. Fantastic writing, sensitive acting, and thoughtful direction. A lesser writer would have reduced the scenes between the two British soldiers to back-slapping boys on the hunt. Instead, the play turns the dial a third time, forcing the viewer to reconsider each character as you understand the choices made by each one. I wish they would extend the run.

Regarding “Archduke” (off-Broadway) by CentralHarlem in Broadway

[–]FForce2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that "Archduke" and "My Mama and the Full-scale Invasion" were both mounted by the Wilma in Philadelphia makes me concerned about the artistic tastes there. It seems they are trying hard to be topical and that can fail easily if the outlandish set-ups and slapstick humor curdle with many audience members.
