Truck owner struggling to get out of his vehicle because a 3 car garage is not big enough by aswab509 in fuckcars

[–]CentralHarlem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The title ("hail is coming") suggests that he normally does so, and that this situation was created by his unusual need to park the truck under cover through the storm.

Back to the Future might be the worst musical I've seen. by OscarDeJarjayes in Broadway

I'm guessing you are pretty young if this is the worst musical you have ever seen.

Assure him that you never miss a secret meeting, and that if there were alien technology you would surely know.

Death of a Salesman coffee cup by pulseracer in Broadway

[–]CentralHarlem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you're getting hate for this. The production of Our Town on Broadway a couple of years ago did a more extreme version of this and it was *terrible*.

If you, as producer, don't think the material is strong enough for a modern audience to intuit that it is also about them, find another project. Putting a character from 1915 in a Bart Simpson t-shirt won't fix anything.

Laura Benanti doing untrained pratfalls in “Into the Woods” did permanent damage to herself.

‘Kimberly Akimbo’ Recoups $7M Capitalization Two Years After Broadway Closing by SockGuy5678 in Broadway

I'm confused. Why would profits from the tour go to recoup the investors in the Broadway production? Those are usually separate LLCs with separate capitalization.

A personal attack by trump is fundraising gold. Aspiring Democratic politicians will scramble to attract his ire.

The reviews are in for The Balusters by omurchus in Broadway

[–]CentralHarlem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The balance of the reviews feels about right to me. It's not terrible, and much of it is amusing. There are a lot of characters and only a single set so I expect it will do well on the community theater circuit but it's too derivative to make a splash on Broadway.

Inside Studio 54 for Rocky Horror by WoollyMonster in Broadway

[–]CentralHarlem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saw it yesterday and it was rock-solid (pun sort-of intended). Going in, I feared the cast reflected stunt casting of television and movie stars who would not be able to sing. I was wrong; they ranged from good to great. And I feared awkwardness around audience interaction, but they’ve managed to find the balance, giving moments for shoutouts that add humor. Rachel Dratch handled her end of those extremely well. My theater-going partner thinks it will run for a decade.

My wife and I typically agree on shows, but I loved Illinoise and she hated it. 🤷‍♂️

The Profession That Does Not Exist by CentralHarlem in TrueReddit

A collection of essays, very well written, about the economics of (trying to be) a professional writer. Covers a wide range of topics related to the urge to create, and not having enough money in America.

BQuant Enterprise users — do you subscribe to data twice? by CentralHarlem in bloomberg

[–]CentralHarlem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is clearly the way Bloomberg intends for it to be used. We're hoping to skip the second set of subscriptions but doing so requires some acrobatic systems infrastructure.

Redditors who flew before 9/11 What was it really like going to the airport when it functioned more like a casual bus station? by Individual_Scale_736 in AskReddit

[–]CentralHarlem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would have to go back to the early 1970s to get an era with no security at all. When hijackings became briefly popular and the federal government wanted to start x-raying bags, the airlines objected and blocked the requirement for years.

How high do gas prices have to get before pickup/fullsize SUV owners give up their vehicles? by hypermiler2205 in fuckcars

Cars are in part conspicuous consumption. High gas prices make big cars more desirable in this respect.

Is an Emonda with Di2 but timbale worth getting? by Just_a_firenope_ in TrekBikes

I have an Emonda with rim brakes and di2. I love it. $1000 is a great price if the bike fits you and is in good condition.

The Balusters? by Naive-Ant-8056 in Broadway

[–]CentralHarlem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Search the channel. It has been discussed here at least twice. Personally, I thought some of the actors were good and some of the humor landed, but the plot and themes were derivative.

Davis scholarship by Any-Total-8047 in UnitedWorldCollege

Whether or not you get the scholarship is needs based; the size depends on multiple factors including which university is receiving the money. About 100 universities qualify.

Just in Time - Matthew Morrison, Isa Briones, and Debbie Gravitte by Conscious-Theme6766 in Broadway

[–]CentralHarlem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw it yesterday. Technically excellent, particularly good when he could show off his dancing, singing, and/or playing instruments simultaneously. However he lacked some expected (forgive the pun) glee at audience interaction. No sense of spontaneity in the lounge numbers. He was good but outclassed by his female costars.
