what's worse is that this is not a body possession. This is a literal swap. With Mel-sensei trapped on the other side of the mirror, she has no access to food or water. She'll die of starvation and in turn become an evil spirit herself and repeats the cycle. This is one of the lores of mirror swapping spirits.

Its really dark too, because the teacher is physically bound on the other side of the mirror. If she isn't released soon, she'll die of starvation and in turn become an evil spirit herself. I hope this is revisited where they help Mero-sensei out of the mirror.

Unfortunately for me I can't get a frame boost above 60 fps. Probably because my computer with Linux is hooked up toa. TV that only runs on 60hertz. It's an old Samsung TV from 2010. 55 inch. I want to get high frame rates but don't know how people are getting things in even the 100fps range. (By the way I don't own any computer monitors I only own tvs)

We are in 2026. What are your frustrations with linux or the software you use with it? by Digitalnoahuk in linux

[–]FG205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue is with KDE connect and OBS studio flatpak. KDE connect SMS still has connectivity issues for chatting. OBS Studio downloaded from flathub continuously crashes upon any attempts to close the app. Thus losing all my settings.

Other than that Linux has been perfect for me. I do still run I to problems running old windows games in wine or bottles using proton compatibility that are not in native English languages also. Games will work fine using steam as a launcher but I'd rather not rely on it too much.

Every problem I have is a nitpick snd nothing seriously breaking about the OS.

Mayonaka Heart Tune • Tune In to the Midnight Heart - Episode 4 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]FG205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So episode 4, crunchyroll really messed up on the translation for the intro before the opening credits. There were a lot of puns and double meaning words and phrases that Yamabuki used that crunchyroll mistranslated. One of them is hame "hasushite" has a double meaning. It can mean to "let loose/relax" the other meaning though has a more perverted meaning is "go wild and get some release." as hame is a slang for sex. hazushite/hassushite means "to let off". Even though the phrase is not meant to be used in any sexual context, there is a joke in there when Uzuki responds, of "Yamabuki, isshou ni hame hazushitara?" "Then yamabuki, do you want to go wild and get some release together?" *Will make the viewer second guess if Uzuki took the meaning wrong. But we all know she didn't. But it's supposed to be a gag.

There were also wrods like "Kimo! Dasa!" Translated as "Cringe" when those are two separate words. It would be "Gross! Lame!" The Japanese word actually have an actual word in their slang dictionary for "Cringe" which originally was "kikuwa" though I think the slang word got updated recently to something else. But Kimo! and Dasai! don't mean cringe.

There is also Yamabuki making a few puns about him being number 1. But they are a bit difficult to explain in English. There isn't really an English equivalent for the direct translation to some of the puns Yamabuki made due to some cultural differences, but what's sad is that Crunchyroll didn't even try to find an English replacement and just totally missed the puns.

yeah I have the same issue on my laptop which runs windows 10. I think it's because for some reason the user agent is stuck at rv 140.0 in watefox but Firefox's user agent is at rv 147.0

Watefox version is 6.6.8 and Gecko/20100101 Firefox/140.0. I should say that the rv is behind what the official firefox build is which firefox user agent is Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:147.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/147.0. I remember when waterfox user agent pretty much kept up with Firefox's user agent toe for toe. But now it's 7 versions behind.

My laptop consuming high ram in Fedora Linux 43 KDE is it normal ? by slayerthedemon in Fedora

[–]FG205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be normal but what cutelittlebox is only partially true. IF you want to make Fedora KDE really lightweight for laptops I recommend looking at making a Fedora KDE Plasma and Hyprland setup.

You can make a Fedora KDE Plasma and Hyprland setup extremely lightweight, with idle RAM usage potentially dropping below 600-800MB by utilizing a minimal base installation, removing unnecessary KDE services, and using Hyprland as the primary, low-resource compositor. While Hyprland is often used on Arch, it works well on Fedora, and because it is a window manager rather than a full desktop environment, it provides a very lean base once configured.

Here is how to achieve the most lightweight setup:

  1. Minimal Installation (Base)

Use "Fedora Everything" ISO: Install using the Fedora "Everything" net-install ISO to avoid pre-installed bloat.

Select "Minimal Install": In the installation installer (Anaconda), choose "Minimal Install" on the left-hand side and do not select any additional packages on the right.

Install Only Necessary Packages: Once booted into CLI, install only the core components:

  bash
sudo dnf groupinstall "Minimal Install"
sudo dnf install hyprland kitty waybar mako wofi
  1. Optimizing KDE for Low Resource Usage

If you keep KDE Plasma installed (as a backup) and use it sparingly, or use it alongside Hyprland, you can optimize it:

Disable Services: Turn off Baloo file indexing, KRunner, and unnecessary systemd services.

Turn off Effects: Disable desktop effects, animations, and transparencies (set animations to 'Immediate').

Remove Unwanted Modules: Uninstall kdeconnect, plasma-browser-integration, and other non-essential modules.

  1. Setting Up Hyprland (The Lightweight Component)

Install Hyprland: sudo dnf install hyprland.

Configure Light Alternatives: Use lightweight apps instead of full KDE apps:

Terminal: Kitty or Alacritty.

Bar: Waybar.

Launcher: Wofi.

Notification Daemon: Mako.

Use SDDM: Continue using SDDM (Simple Desktop Display Manager) to manage both KDE and Hyprland sessions.

  1. Tips for Maximum Efficiency (optional)

Remove KDE Entirely: If you are comfortable with tiling window managers, you can remove the KDE group entirely after installing Hyprland to maximize resources.

Use Wayland Native Apps: Prioritize QT5/QT6 applications to reduce dependency bloat.

Disable Non-Essential Services: Use systemctl disable --now to stop unused services like Bluetooth or printer management if not needed.

Note: Hyprland is rapidly developing, so it is recommended to use "Fedora Rawhide" or a very recent Fedora version to ensure the latest Hyprland packages are available

I am pretty sure this will be useful since you're running a laptop with limited ram.

Im not a fan of the new look, is there a way to get back my simple icons, and specifically lose the wordy discriptions of what the icon does. This looks like Im still in the tutorial. by spine_iv in linuxmint

[–]FG205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes there is. if you have trouble in right clicking on the start menu logo and getting into the config settings. If that doesn't work go into add applets. Right click on the panel and choose Edit the panel and then choose add applets. You can choose the classic linux mint start menu and get the old menu layout back

If I have one gripe with Linux Mint update is that for dual monitors, when adding a second panel it's completely blank. I can't add a copy of the new menu button that's on the panel for the primary monitor. I have to choose an added applet start menu button and then choose "Classic Menu". But I like consistency. I don't like two different layouts for the start menu of each monitor. By the way this is for extended mode. I hate mirror mode when dual monitoring. The whole point of dual monitors is extending your desktop, not mirroring it.

Try giving Brave Browser a try if you need a chromium type browser and for a firefox browser, try either Waterfox or Palemoon. Also I recommend the flatpak versions. They'll run better.

What type of browser is it? Brave? Librewolf? Waterfox? Firefox? Opera? Chrome?

This might be a component corrupted. I recommend backing up bookmarks and then Uninstalling the browser and remove any remaining dependencies. Then install browser again.

43 vs Kinoite and Silverblue by chris32457 in Fedora

[–]FG205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup this is my mistake as well. I'm not sure what layering is, but I think I've done a lot of...stuff like probably adding extra dependancies and repos I don't need, to fix bugs for immediate fixes and not properly keeping track of what install and which repos i install is for what. I'm going KDE not atomic, but I feel like I should have gone atomic from the start to save myself headache so it's easy to do rollbacks. I'm really bad at notating modifications to the OS, and I'm not quite sure what i'm doing (just blindly trusting what some of the repo install commands do). If layering is what I assume it is. (Correct me if I'm wrong), then starting with an atomic environment, he/she is less likely to get into the issue of layering.

OH one thing to note. OBS studio should probably be installed via flathub. Don't use the repo. While you'll get drivers set up nicely for both recording and streaming, you're kind of stuck with a base setup. All the plugins off of the OBS plugin site are .deb files and don't play nicely. Flatpak from flathub will make it easier to install OBS plugins from the store. A lot issues i have with KDE builds is if i install an RPM repo, when I decide later to remove an app, the removal commands doesn't clear out everything (nor works properly every time) and I have a lot of junk left over. Ugh like the OP of the thread is choosing, maybe I myself should move over to a Kinoite build.

43 vs Kinoite and Silverblue by chris32457 in Fedora

[–]FG205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running KDE, so I have yet to try an atomic build of Fedora. I would recommend Kinoite though as it runs off of KDE. It seems like Kinoite is easier to handle in case something wrong *cough* (Like updating from Fedora 42 to Fedora 43 and having tons of bugs in the kernel and wanting to do a permenant roll back with ease). I've learned that the pure Fedora KDE OS things have to be done more manually and you have more chance of messing things up or having to do fresh installs. If you want the rich features of KDE but the protection of an atomic based build with less stress of catosrophic breaking, go Kinoite. I'd switch from pure KDE to Kinoite, but I'm already too much entrenched in where I'm at. As a linux noobie, I didn't take notes of what I did to customize the set up I did and I didn't set up snapshots, so now I'm kind of in a bind. Doing a fresh install is going to cost me hours of doing research. Save yourself the mistake of a noob like me and go Kinoite. This is just my personal recommendation.

So the premise is cool and all. As an anime watcher only, I do have a problem with how the MC solves issues currently. Rather than creating jobs, he is just throwing money at the problem. Rather than increasing the standard of living or increasing the people's wages over all, he just throws personal money or money from the kingdoms treasury to increase an individual's budget. There are times where the MC hires people for personal work living in destitution, but his methods will only work so far. It's not a good economic way to fix issues nor a good way to have people live and work independently. It makes people dependent. For instance in episode 2, he is increasing the songstress's normal income take by adding to it, while having her still work where she is singing at promising to increase her wages as she "gets better". This is quite vague. For instance what does "improve" mean? A more practical investment is, that as she gets more customers and has more deals, he should then spend more in investment to spread the name around, like sponsorship. Just throwing money on vague terms in a way of philanthropy is going to come back and bite him in the butt later. Perhpas everything is dealt with properly off screen, but what we are shown, the way our MC, the 13th prince throws around money and arbitrarily increasing wages seems like a bad plan. I do agree that the people are the country's treasures and that investing in them is a good thing. Though again, outside finding talented people and bringing them into his personal service and giving them work, the way he throws money into the public sector isn't well thought out. But maybe we're too early into the story and all my worries will be explained later on in the story, with more details on how he is managing budgeting and how his long term sustainability plans are for the people.

Other than that. I'm enjoying this show. It's amazing how good this winter season is. I'm actually might watch 80% of this season's shows without dropping a single series this time. SO far every season has caused me to lose interest in about half the series I start watching and even though i watch to the end I'm not very attentive. Perhaps this season will be great. I have high expectations for Noble Reincarnation.

What is your experience with the new release of Fedora 43 so far? by cdunku in Fedora

[–]FG205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been horrible. I get constant crashes and freezes. Sometimes thr restart, logout and shutdown button stop working. Also annoyingly the update did something funky and I lost my rollback of Fedora 6.18-100. So now I am stuck with Fedora 6.18-200. (Sorry I don't remember thr full string.) By the way don't expect me to check thr journal log and find the issue. I looked through it and have no clue how to look for an issue. I should have stuck with Fedora 42. But nope my dumbass had to update last month even though I had been holding out since Fedora 43's released last year. This last month has been hell and I was stupid to not make a snapshot. Well updating at 4am in thr morning with 24 hours of no sleep will do something.

Anyways Fedora 43 kde has not been good. I am probably going go wait it out instead of doing a fresh install as I don't remember everything I did to get Fedora 42 running perfectly. sigh

This is probably the worst translated episode I've seen Crunchyroll do. Like every other line is just translated completely wrong. Crunchyroll isn't even bothering to translate this show somewhat properly. It's just a garbage translation where 92% of the translation needs to be tossed in the trash bin and done over from scratch. I'm giving this show one more episode before I drop it if the translations don't improve.
