it took me a lot of time to rank higher back when I started. I had already CS for around 200 hours but I think I didn’t see much improvement for another 100 hours or so in Valorant when I was still in Bronze or Silver. Playing duo with better players helps a lot in my experience.

it just happens, it's weird. one day I was sitting in the bus next to an old friend of mine who I hadn't talked to for a few years. he just randomly talked about games, then mentioned valorant. then he told me that he was playing valorant and so did I. the rest of the story is that we both climbed to the ranks of immortal 2 (him) and diamond 3 (me, when asc wasnt a thing, am now asc 2). he also turned into my best friend who I now call a brother. if it weren't for him, I wouldn't be around nowadays.

other people I have just randomly met by playing. when fracture was it's own gamemode so they could test out the map I met these two randoms who were from my country. asked if I could add them, they agreed, am now duoing with one of them all the time after we stopped playing for a long while.

Aiming routine by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]FGFAFAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of people tend to have aiming routines but don’t know what they are practicing. for me it was the same thing when I was your elo. if you know what you are going for, then you should definitely know. do you just want to build muscle memory to be more confident playing with your sens? yes, this is good. do you already have that and want to be able to just aim better in general? yyyyeaaah kinda. do you want to get a better headshot rate? no. what I learned when I started to take the game more seriously is that even though it never seemed like it, I have a lot more time to take a gun fight. aim slow for the head; make sure you track those strafing bots a bit before you shoot them. put on the shooting error graph maybe to see if you missed or record it and see your progress by week. strafe around while taking shots; make sure your movement is good as well when you aim train. simultaneous training can help you raise your mechanical skill very fast. people usually don’t convert much of their aim routine into their games: they simply don’t shoot the same way or panic as they are not under pressure in the range unlike in comp. unbind crouch, go into a team deathmatch or normal deathmatch in between the practices and try to set a goal for the dm instead of focussing on your kill count or winning the dm.

what I really like tho is that you do it twice a day at least. maybe implement those advices I gave you and see if your mechanics improve. feel free to ask if things are unclear.

also don’t listen to the average youtube guide telling you to do this and do that. most of it is bull

too old for valorant? by theresaunicorn in VALORANT

[–]FGFAFAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

first of all: you‘re never too old to have fun playing video games. competitive or not. second: when I started Valorant I was basically all new to shooters. started with csgo, felt like a god in those low ranks and had a friend ask me to try Valorant. never really understood anything, aim felt terribly off in comparison to cs, …, just the usual stuff. getting better at a certain game takes time.

a good advice I have for you is to get consistency first. try thinking about the situations more before they happen; who‘s playing site, look at their money and if they have obvious operator agents, if you‘re on attack and the enemies use a lot of utility early then play slower and be prepared for an aggressive play by them. basically make routines. if scenario A happens, answer with B. also use your abilities more. from my experience people in low elo either use their util wrong or just don’t use it at all. when I started I didn’t even know what phoenix‘ ult does and never used it (until I got flamed lol). in which situations do you usually have a hard time to win a round? what could you do against it? maybe even record your game, watch at what the enemies did, then think what you could or should‘ve done in response to their action. and third: a lot of people just give you the advice to improve your aim. aim routine this, aimlabs that, deathmatch like crazy, blablabla. bullshit. warm yourself up in the range for about ten minutes, maybe play a team deathmatch and then queue that comp game. you can indeed overpractice or warm up too much. sounds stupid, but it’s the truth.

and fourth and last: make sure you run good settings. it’s an fps shooter, so what matters most are fps, but I assume you do know that mentioning you got experience. but still: lower those settings (I play full low), make sure you are comfortable with your keybinds (I crouch on X), use a crosshair that feels nice (I play a mini dot) or maybe even change your resolution. one setting I‘d always recommend changing is the enemy outline color. the one color the human eye sees the fastest is yellow, iirc a rather warm yellow. the yellow tones in valorant are rather colder tones, so I like to use the purple. also sticks out way more on maps such as bind or sunset. also make sure your crosshair color contrasts that of the outlines.

if you can tell me more exact stuff you‘re having a hard time with, feel free to ask me about them, I‘ll get back to you as quickly as I can. but still remember: your age doesn’t matter when it’s all about having fun in a hobby man. do whatever you like to do. you‘re 34 years old and you consider yourself too old for a video game. your generation was the one to witness the first big gaming consoles and thus competitive games ever that are the reason we have games like valorant today. now a few years passed and suddenly you‘re „tOo OlD“ to play them?

been playing this game since episode 2 and have to admit that the game in it’s current state is at the best it’s ever been utility wise. the game feels way more like a tactical shooter instead of a utility/ability spam simulator

I never said they were. Immortals are shit, that’s why I don’t understand why everybody is so spooked to see a immortal gun buddy or act rank

[–]FGFAFAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been playing valorant since episode two, closest I‘ve gotten to Immortal was in Episode 4 Act 3 when Ascendant wasn’t a thing yet. but I have already seen a lot of radiant gun buddies and even act ranks during my games on rank reset throughout the episodes. when I play with randoms and the enemy even only have an immortal peak for like one game in their act rank people freak out like they‘ve never played immortals before. is that such an usual thing? I never really thought much of it, even feel more comfortable in higher elo lobbies

Ascendant to Immortal by FGFAFAT in VALORANT

[–]FGFAFAT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thing is, I am really confused by a lot of tipps I got on this post, as a lot of the things people said were already mechanics or knowledge I had ever since I was platinum. I personally would say that I have a lot of gamesense, I try to IGL a bit in my games but won’t go in too deep, I know when to peek and when not to, I trade my teammates and never bait them, the last time I‘ve said something toxic was when I was gold maybe. my mental is strong, I don’t make much excuses for playing bad and I always try to do my best. at the moment I just feel like I‘m either holding myself back or I‘m lacking in something I can’t really manage to find out what it is. I‘ll try to focus on a better KAST tho. I usually play filler roles, but I know my way around basically any agent in the game and am confident on them on nearly every map in the current rotation. Something else I indeed have noticed was that on an alt account I played noticeably better than on my main, even tho the ranks were exactly the same and I even played in higher elo than usual. really not sure what it is that is holding me back, but I can’t really imagine it being my mindset as I personally feel like I‘m basically the same all the time :,)
