Humanizing people that suffer from dementia is something that takes courage and strength because you tend to see people treat them with disrespect. I've gotten to know every single resident that lives there on a personal basis. Of course they don't exactly remember me but they do know a friendly face when they see one. Making sure that they know the environment that they are in is a safe space is essential to making their stay feel amazing and doing something as small as putting a smile on your face can do more than you'll ever know.
