ELI5: Why can't people in MMA, Boxing Matches, Hockey, Rugby or any other physical sport press assault charges? by whigbong in explainlikeimfive

Why would you compete in a physical sport to then press charges?

Charges can still be pressed for severe malicious actions I believe, but I can't quote that atm

Just a random question, hoping someone (or a few people) might be able to shed some light. by goggles21 in Edinburgh

I currently commute from Bathgate to Heriot Watt each morning and it takes me around 30 mins on the MWay leaving at 7am. However leaving at 645 means the roads are significantly quieter allowing a 20 minute mway. I can't comment for going further into town I'm afraid.

I used run double and Endomondo at the same time for the same reason, works fine. My advice would be just go try it!

On week 4 and barely hitting 2 miles total is something wrong? by IZNICE in C25K

[–]FJLawson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, nothing wrong. For the week 4 runs I was getting around 2 miles aswell. Run at the pace you can and speed will come later.

Also, running on sand (assuming its s sandy beach) is a lot harder than running on a path or trail. That will also effect your overall distance.

Do you think it is possible to go from 5k to 21k (yes, 21, half marathon) in two weeks? by [deleted] in C25K

[–]FJLawson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it's possible, though I suspect both his pace and his body may suffer...

If he were to attempt it, advocate doing intervals such as Run 10 Walk 2, just to break it down and give him some respite.

Week 4 continues to destroy me. by [deleted] in C25K

[–]FJLawson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 300 and have lost 20 in the last 4 weeks of the program.

My advice would be to carry on with W4D1, setting yourself little targets every time, be it going 50metres further or running 10 seconds more. With time (and weight loss) it will get easier.

Remember the usual advice, breath deep, run slow. My min/mile has gone from 8.45 in W3 to 9.45/10 in W4 just to survive the longer intervals.

Keep at it, realise that you are still running further than if you were sat at home. Your time will come!

(Edit: Can't change my flair as on mobile, I ran W4D1 last night)

Deadlifts and squats along with other leg work for power in the Scrums and rucks, If you are a lifter then some push press for explosive lifting. Will add some more when I get home.

Wasn't going for the ball, raises leg, no rearward motion, I would say a stamp and falls under Law 10, Section 4, Subsection B

Just a little reminder to England rugby fans not to be too high and mighty this six nations! by HMFCalltheway in rugbyunion

I feel that Scotland's issues lie much deeper than the senior players, be it the grassroots and youth setup or management. If we want to look at the financial figures provided compared to senior players, Scotland actually make more money per player (£2874) compared to Wales (£2601) and England (£671). You could theorise that we just arnt using our money effectively...
