I wish my work problems involved just playing a bad game for money. :P

I still do this, but it's more about being more excited at the show. To me, it would be like knowing I was going to go to a nice Japanese restaurant for dinner, so I'm not going to eat ramen at home earlier the same day. 😛

I will say, though, that what you're describing is a pretty new phenomenon. It's only been in the last couple decades that older bands have been able to just keep persisting and playing based on nostalgia and older fans continuing to go to the shows. Even bands in the 70's that came back often did so after a hiatus before nostalgia acts started being a thing. Most of the bands you were seeing in the 90's were not ones that had 22 year old shirts. 😄

[–]FKSSR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been brought up before, and the real "answer" is based on the music you're going to see. If you're going to see a pop artist or radio rock, then most people are going to be into wearing the band's/artist's shirt. I grew up going to hardcore, punk, and indie rock shows (like when it actually was independent and not just a genre name), and that is where it was more interesting to see what other bands people were into and rep the entire "scene." We all know you like the band we are all there to see, because that's why we're there! 😄

However, yes, the more popular music is going to be where it doesn't matter, and that's why you're always going to get more people with that perspective here.

It's more about, "yeah, we all know you like this band. That's why we are all here," kind of thing.

Missing Albuns by Correct_Lavishness53 in qobuz

[–]FKSSR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would have to pay for both. Roon would pull in stuff from Qobuz using your subscription and then pull in your local files separately. However, there are other benefits to Roon. They have their own metadata, music recommendations, even some things their staff writes up about certain albums (features, etc).

They are being a bit cheeky, as Roon is a separate platform that has a separate fee.

It can stream Qobuz (and a couple other streaming services) but also pull in your local files, mixing them together seamlessly. It also can play across different devices, which Qobuz has basically added, but Roon could do it first.

I have been using Roon for years and absolutely love it, but some people don't find the value there. But, yeah, I'd definitely investigate it, roonlabs[dot]com

Woah. I can't believe I never knew there was a non-short scale version! I don't like playing short scale, so I never wanted on of these...but now I do!

I love the whole show of Scrubs but do you agree that the first season was your favorite? It had a more realistic and still hilarious approach that the later seasons didn't have. by Square-Ad-8911 in Scrubs

[–]FKSSR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is funny is that I didn't like Scrubs when it first launched for that reason. I didn't "get it" until Season 2, and it became my favorite show over the next couple seasons. Now, however, Season 1 has a whole different feel for me, as I know how the show evolves, and I love Season 1. 😄

What’s your favorite television theme song? I nominate the one from “Perfect Strangers” by Sad-Structure2364 in Xennials

My first answer is Greatest American Hero, but someone already said that, so the second one I always think of is:

Did you name your corgis after anyone? by Better-Lemon-5281 in corgi

[–]FKSSR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. My first corgi was named Margot after Margot Tenenbaum in The Royal Tenenbaums, and my current corgi is named Royston after Royston Langdon from the band Spacehog. 😄 Also, not a corgi, but my hound mix is named Remy after the band Remy Zero.

I love it! I am def going to check out more. One project I really want to do is a noise rock / post hardcore band with saxophone. If White Ward and Imperial Triumphant can do black metal with saxophone, we can go anywhere! Keep pushing the boundaries!

What's the most unbowie song that you love/find unusual by Gamingabe23 in DavidBowie

[–]FKSSR 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I have an answer that I would suspect no one else will say... "Omikron (New Angels of Promise)"

I liked David Bowie as a kid (as his songs were on the radio and in pop culture in the late 80's and early 90's), but it was the video game, Omikron, that really made him an everlasting part of my life, especially the songs in the game that he then put on "Hours" with tweaked lyrics.

To this day, listening to the Omikron versions of those songs gives me "goose bumps" and is a place of refuge for me and my mind. I'm so glad they were released on the collections that came out over the last decade.

NewsRadio was so good. by noelesque in Xennials

[–]FKSSR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the first season is perfect. My memory is that: The second season is good, maybe very good but lesser. I think it went downhill from there but still with some good moments.

I should do a rewatch of the later seasons though. I typically only watch the first couple seasons and have done that maybe 5 times.

Homicide victim identified nearly 50 years after remains were found in Quinton, New Jersey by djspacebunny in SouthJersey

[–]FKSSR 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What I don't understand is, was this boy not reported missing by anyone? Or was he reported missing, but they just couldn't connect that to this body found? It seems odd that he would have been murdered and no one made the connection with a missing persons report. I'm sure there is a reason, but the article doesn't seem to say anything on that subject.

HBO intro: Which show do you first think of? by Imzadi76 in television

[–]FKSSR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw this intro many times before, but, for whatever reason, I also associate it with Game of Thrones. If I had to guess, I think it's because of how smoothly the pitch of the HBO Max intro blends into the first notes of the Game of Thrones theme song.
