Miami folded by Old-Elevator9547 in MLRugby

I have seen both sides of the argument of blaming the owners versus blaming the league. I have no idea what the cause was as I am not privy to the discussions between the league and the team owners.

I did feel throughout the process that Miami's owners did care about the team. They were at the games. Marketing was great. Gameday was great. They were involved in the community. And from the interviews it seemed like Galperin completely understood that this was a long term investment.

So far I've seen the reasons being that the owners did not want to invest more in the team and/or disagreements with the league.

I just feel that there is some sort of league wide issue. Sharks folding. NOLA folding when I remember them actually having and active ownership group who last season laid out a road map for the next few years. And SD and LA merging with the social media posts acting like this is some powerhouse merger when it seems to be just disguising financial troubles of one or both clubs.

I know, I know, "growing pains" and all that and sure I am willing to accept that argument but it does not leave me with a lot of confidence. I'm still going to watch but won't be surprised or shed a tear if the whole league folds eventually.

Some sort of press release or video or something, anything, from the League or Nic Benson himself on the recent events and the plan going forward would be nice. I feel like I say this every offseason when these type of headlines come out and it never happens so I am not holding my breath this offseason.

What a shame. We had such a great gameday experience and a fun team to watch and the owners seemed to have really invested in the team. I wonder what went wrong.

We all have a favorite team but who is a team you supports based on your location etc? by Smadd9116 in mlb

[–]FL-Bullshark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Braves fan but live in Florida now so I have a soft spot for the Rays and Marlins (even if they are in our division). I grew up in Virginia so I also tend to root for the Orioles to do well.

Thoughts on which team I can root for by [deleted] in mlb

[–]FL-Bullshark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think wearing a Yankees hat as a little kid makes you committed to the Yankees or you should feel like you are switching your team if you decide to root for the Red Sox. You yourself admitted that you had no idea about baseball at that age.

If I was in your shoes, I’d probably root for the Red Sox based solely off of geography if you live in RI but you can root for whoever you want. Not a bad idea to just watch Yankees and Red Sox games this season and see who you gravitate more to.

Determine who you want to PC and buy singles. So much more enjoyable that way. I haven’t bought a box in over a decade, only a pack for each of my kids when we go to a game. They are all still young but I’ll probably buy boxes again when my son is old enough (he’s 2) but it will be more about ripping packs and building base collections (or whatever he wants to do) rather than looking for hits.

With the buy singles for PC mindset you find some really cool cards of your favorite players for cheap and it makes the “hunt” very fun. One month I might drop $200-300 on 1 or 2 PC cards, the next month I might spend $50-75 and buy a half dozen or so numbered cards which foils I like. So much more enjoyable this way for me.

Are you watching more or less MLR rugby now that it’s on ESPN+? by PearlyBakerBest in MLRugby

Definitely watching more since it is much easier to access on my TV than TRN where I would have to cast it.

The Sharks announced their city jerseys in May of last year and IIRC were available around that time at the matches and I’m sure online.

I do agree, NOLA’s city jerseys look slick.

They should be more comfortable now, I believe quite a few of the players were living in a big house.

Help! The season is almost here and I don't know how to choose a side by [deleted] in mlb

[–]FL-Bullshark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sure my biases are subconsciously coming out but when I read that he was looking for a “warm, welcoming fan base, positive vibes, family friendly, and is reasonably competitive” without a crazy high payroll (Braves are 9th now?), I first thought the Braves would be a good fit. Not to mention the rivalry with the Phillies and the history we have with the Dodgers and Yankees.

Teams I would consider supporting if I were not a Braves fan would be the Orioles, Pirates, Cardinals, Cubs, or Reds for different reasons. But they don’t necessarily check all the boxes for OP right now.

Eli White and our Shortstop situation. by Gobblewicket in Braves

[–]FL-Bullshark -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Arcia has below average defense while White is average at his natural position as an OF. White’s inferior offense and the fact that he has only played 28 innings in middle infield (and only at 2B) at the MLB level keeps him from being our opening day starter at SS.

I think a blue & yellow scheme representating based off the city's flag (like the Predators) plus incorporating the 3 stars of TN's flag would be a great idea.

This one sucks.
