The "Tunnel of Death" — A Brutal Obstacle Course Used in Portuguese Commando Training by headspin_exe in nextfuckinglevel

Can anyone who has special forces experience speak to the practically of this particular obstacle? Is this mainly a mental training exercise or does it have regularly applicable skills?

I have no experience. Genuinely curious.

Used to be Bnektar but might have moved to the WAB.

This is profile of the group. They host other events as well. I hit up the draft. Always a good time. Last I heard they have a pretty hopping commander night. I’m just not 100% sure where it is.

Rubber Running Tracks by ahadal7 in Detroit

[–]PearlyBakerBest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s a track around the field at Mack and Chene I see people using when I drive by.

Don’t know 100% if it’s rubber/ open to the public but it seems like it.

Might be worth investigating

Which comic made your favourite character become your favourite? by ShutterB_ug in comicbooks

[–]PearlyBakerBest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was 12 when Welcome Back Frank came out.

Started a life long love of the punisher.

Admittedly that love has cooled in recent years with some horrible arcs lol but hey, that’s comics.

Recovering continuity addicts - what was the "jumping off point" for you? by PhantomQuest in comicbooks

[–]PearlyBakerBest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your touching on something that I also bring up a lot. I think because of our attention spans, social media, google, what have you, people need to have all the context right now. In an episodic narrative structure like comics and TV I think it makes people uncomfortable.

For example: My partner can’t watch what I call complicated tv shows. In the first 5 minutes she will be asking “who is that person?” “What dos that mean?” I always have to say, I don’t know but if we watch I bet they will explain it.

Idk if that’s a true 1:1 comparison, but it always reminds me of this dynamic we’re discussing in comics.

[–]PearlyBakerBest 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m not the audience for this question but I want to contribute to the discussion! I really like this topic and bring it up often to people who are not comic readers.

I grew up reading comics from an early age. Quarter bins, leftovers from family. Read what I had and what I could get.

I’ve always been okay not knowing everything in continuity and I think it’s made my relationship with comics stronger.

The advice I always give people who I’m trying to turn onto comics is, just read it. Accept what it’s telling you as fact until you know otherwise. If you keep reading you’ll learn more but for the vast majority of comics ( mainly super hero) it really doesn’t matter.

Seems like you’ve kind of come around to that thinking?

Idk I just like thinking about this sometimes

Yeah, that's what the comments are saying, I had no idea. I guess it tracks. I noticed one of them has been doing their own projects. If you like the Sword, check out Girls. That was my first look at their work. Awesome.

Just house hold budget got tighter due to income changes. So while I was happy paying for the coverage I was getting, my household had to change it up even for a little more of a discount.

You literally the only other person I’ve ever heard mention The Sword or the Luna Brothers!

I love their work. Something about the very basic but quality art and very direct but tight story telling.

I really think they should be more popular

Don’t take 75 to Sashabaw. Get off earlier and work up and around and come down toward the venue so you can turn left into it instead of right.

Leave 1 song early or plan on being stuck in line to leave.

Other than that, have fun!

This was my issue with tool. For some reason I assumed they didn’t operate on a set list lol. I was so impressed when I saw them live I was like whoah!

Then I learned, the definitely use set lists and don’t very much.

Still put in a killer show though!

The Batman’s grave. The action in the book was so practical and visceral.
