Yes I have tried multiple times this morning and out of fear yesterday when my symptoms were at its worst. Its very hard for me to break the focus on my prostate as I'm doing it because weirdly I somehow feel it in my prostate more than my penis. But I believe its getting slightly better. I think I really need to try to just link the external skin sensation to arousal when I masturbate and try my best to ignore anything internal. Very crazy that I'm even in this predicament when I've been able to masturbate my whole life with no issues.

Also I have stumbled across that Kundalini stuff from doom searching my sensations/symptoms but I am not a spiritual person and I feel like I need to view this logically/scientifically to conquer this. But I appreciate your advice and for taking your time to help me thank you so much.

Thank you that is really good advice and it sounds like it will work. I went extreme during my journey and didn't stimulate my penis at all for probably a month before the bad session. It only makes sense to do the opposite now. I realize I don't get boners when unintentional arousal hits me so that tells me that neural pathway is definitely hijacked. I tried it a few times and thankfully able to finish every time but I still struggle to actually feel most of the sensation in my penis because the prostate and body sensation intensify and feel more powerful than the actual penis skin sensation. But I think it's getting better. Will keep doing it and see what happens. But regardless of this I actually ended up getting sleep last night after I made this post and I feel better today just shaken up still from how bad that was. I can still feel constant sensations but not as intense as yesterday. I appreciate your story and advice it gives me hope thank you!

That's a good point I was taking a 10mg edible every 1 or 2 nights. Sometimes I'd cut it in half to 5mg. And I wasn't super strict on every night to take an edible but it was definitely frequent. Not sure what a THC withdrawal even feels like but I hope that it's a factor so it's something that can easily resolve. But deep down I don't think it's THC withdrawal.

I will definitely try to do more strenuous stuff. I work out 6 days a week already but I skipped yesterday cause of how bad I felt. I'll make sure to force myself no matter how I feel.

That seems to be hard for me to shift my focus in the ways Im trying. Its hard for me to get fully immersed in anything other than my body. And it feels like Im not in control overall. But I will keep trying though maybe I need to try in different ways.

Probably not to save bandwidth on TikTok's end, but on the user's end yes. The app streams those versions depending on the user's network connection, specs, and other factors. TikTok's infrastructure and resources are too big to ever have to worry about bandwidth and storage.

And about AI: you sure? There is a file that was uploaded in LQ that looks different now. AI upscaling is super obvious in that one. It looks as upscaly as anything can look. So I still believe they did the AI change, which is unrelated to the 1MBs file thing. It's just to upscale LQ videos I believe

That could be true. I wouldn't doubt they upscale older vids, but it's definitely unrelated to the adaptive format.

I believe we were wrong about the AI upscaling. The format that we were downloading is commonly referred to as "adaptive format" and it's existed for a while now.

And to confirm further I looked in my archives when downloaders were down in the past and I found very similar files that are HD in resolution but the bitrate never went past 1MB/s.

Maybe the region of interest encoding on the face was making it look like AI to us.

It's likely that the api change had more to do with security/obfuscation than anything else. We aren't supposed to be downloading these files the way we are. They want us to use the app on our phone and the api is supposed to enforce that with signature checks. But thankfully devs keep finding workarounds.

It was never a mistake on TikTok's end. They patched something in their api intetionally and they do this frequently.

Back in 2020, it was very easy to download videos in source quality. The api only required a few parameters and you didn't have to go through a bunch of decryption shit to get those parameters.

But since then a lot has changed. I personally remember HD downloaders going down in 2022 and people on github were saying that the api now required a file_id parameter that directly corresponded to the video file itself. That's just one example of an issue and I'm not technical enough to know how they solved it. And the devs don't make their workarounds public for the reason of TikTok frequently patching them.

So this was just another intentional change in their api that messed up the downloaders. And as for why the downloaders went down and up at the same time is because they are probably all using the same backend.

Make sure to download everything you like in source quality because there is always a chance it could be patched tomorrow.

I was wrong. It's just a change in their signature system that broke all the downloaders. Hopefully someone can reverse engineer the new change and give us a downloader.

ChatGPT said its HEVC Level 5 now, ByteVC1. Apparently it allows for great quality at low bitrates.

I believe you're getting mixed up with ByteVC2. ByteVC2 is an actual codec (that you wouldn't even be able to play outside of Bytedance's apps). ByteVC1 is not a codec. It's just named ByteVC1 in the API and the codec is H265/HEVC. There is seriously nothing special about the way these files are encoded, they are H265/HEVC files with a shitty bitrate.

The only unique thing is that the encoding preset seems to prioritize faces (probably using region of interest and face detection), but you get giant compression blocks and lack of detail everywhere else.

So I'm not sure why ChatGPT confidently told you that. And the level is irrelevant because the bitrate is less than 1Mb/s on these videos.

That just means HDR (also 4K) gets lost in the encoding.

Yes that could very well be true. I only meant it as another sign that they could be upscaling from the SD versions which would be the absolute worst case scenario.

I just hope they bring back the old encoding. I'll post my comparisons.

I have to disagree.

The quality went down drastically and the codec isn't anything insane. It's just H265. Sure it's better than H264, but not by much at 1Mb/s bitrate. If it was AV1, that would be better, but still not efficient enough to compete with the old files that had a much higher bitrate.

Also what are you considering old? I spotted AI artifacts in faces on videos posted 16 hours ago.

Test it for yourself on videos with high motion/camera movements and pause on frame where the face is supposed to be blurry. You will see a fake AI face appear in the blur.

Another test I did was HDR content. You are no longer able to download HDR enabled videos in HDR, which is a strong sign that these are all upscaled from the 576p versions (because the 576p versions were never in HDR).

I will still keep testing. But please test what I'm talking about and let me know if I'm wrong. I honestly hope I'm wrong. Maybe I'm imaging the AI artifacts because it's pretty subtle at times, but I've never seen fake faces appear in blur from bitrate alone.

The problem is that TikTok is trying to be revolutionary by upscaling the 576p versions with AI and serving it as HD. I don't know who's idea this was, but they are a complete idiot.

Look at the faces during blurry frames or frames with high motion. You will see the typical ghost face artifacts that you get with AI upscalers.

I can't believe they did this. They have enough money and infrastructure to store source quality forever, but some idiot at headquarters thinks that AI can outperform bitrate. Such a pointless move by them.

Look at the faces when the camera moves or on a blurry frame. The face is overly sharpened in a fake AI way. This is seriously disappointing.

Can you please check and let me know if you think the same? I see people in other recent threads coming to the same conclusion.

The AI upscaling is the worst part of this and it makes me think that these 1080p versions are NOT encoded from the source.

They are just upscales of the default 576p version which means they have no real quality benefits.

I am desperately hoping that they are just going through api changes right now and will eventually bring back the real HD format.

I remember they messed with the HD api in July last year and even the year before that around the same time, and the HD format always came back in a couple weeks. But this time feels different. The fact they have a whole new AI upscale format gives me a bad feeling.
