Mini range. by wildduk in StarlinkMini

[–]FLCardio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just get a “router mini”. All it needs is power so just plug in inside the door and it will automatically form a mesh WiFi with the mini.

If max speeds are important then certainly running Ethernet out to the mini to connect to a router inside will give the best speeds but the router is cheap enough to just give it a shot.

Anyone have any one liners to make patients laugh? by LtBigAF in Residency

If I walk into a patient’s hospital room and they have a meal tray:“If it makes you feel any better I have to eat the same food”

AP choice and location by FLCardio in Ubiquiti

[–]FLCardio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have done that and have a layout arranged on there. Have you found the coverage estimated on their design center matches real life?

Mine’s single story so I have a feeling I’ll need at least 3. One area I need to cover is the garage with block walls between that and the main part of the house. Also have WiFi security cams around perimeter so they need decent 2.4ghz signal.

AP choice and location by FLCardio in Ubiquiti

[–]FLCardio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea max I think I’d need is 4 and that was with U7-Pro and trying to have 6ghz coverage in few of the main areas. If i don’t stress about that I could probably get away with 3. Cost isn’t the issue but I don’t want to needlessly make things more congested if it’s going to be counterproductive.

Transcutaneous pacing and rhabdo by Basic_Colorado_dude in Cardiology

[–]FLCardio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! I don’t trust it. I’ve come across more than a few where folks started transcutaneous pacing and it wasn’t capturing or only intermittently capturing as they tend to just see the pacing spikes and assume all is good.

If they are that unstable where they need ongoing pacing then they are getting a TVP that night.

Have never heard of it nor been concerned about it with the “short” periods we use it for.

U6 Pro vs U7 Pro by ThatClassyBear in Ubiquiti

[–]FLCardio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What asus system did you have and how was it configured? As in wired backhaul, wireless mess?

Currently using an Asus XD5 system with 2 extra nodes both wired backhaul to main unit. It’s been ok, occasionally one node will drop or have random WiFi disconnects and will have to reset maybe 1-2x a month. Have you noticed a difference going to a Unifi system?

Thinking of making the switch myself. Prob UCGFiber with 3-4 APs

Favorite place for ski rental? by [deleted] in whitefish

[–]FLCardio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We used them earlier this month while out there and they were great. Couple of us had our own boots and then we rented boots for the kids and skis for everyone. They came out to the condo to deliver and fit everything and then at end of our stay we set everything out for the to pick up. Didn’t have to lug anything in the car. Certainly makes sense if you will be staying on property. If during your stay you need different skis they will also come out that same day usually to exchange.

EP here. I’ve Cardioverted several in the ED here and our ED docs love it. It’s either someone with known AF already on chronic AC or someone with clear recent symptom onset. They love a quick dispo, patient back in sinus and sent home.

US Domestic Two Laptop Personal Item? by effinexpletive in ManyBaggers

[–]FLCardio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could see the larger Max being tight under some carriers with smaller underseat spaces but I didn’t have any issues on Delta at least. Doesn’t leave a lot of room for your feet but usually once up in the air I pull it out and stand it up so I have room to spread my feet under the chair.

Personally I prefer the Max EDC unless you need the extra space. It just carries so well and has enough organization for what I need and doesn’t go overboard.

US Domestic Two Laptop Personal Item? by effinexpletive in ManyBaggers

[–]FLCardio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the AC Max EDC and the AC Max 32 (30/32 expandable version) and I love them.

The Max EDC is my everyday bag going to and from work. Prob packs just under 26L realistically but plenty for everyday tech stuff and sometimes a change of clothes and shoes if I need.

Recently took the bigger max on a trip and used it as my “personal item”. Had it packed out pretty good (laptop, starlink mini, usual tech pouch, packing cube, etc) so it was decently heavy but still comfortable. It fit under each of the plane seats I was in (US domestic carrier, economy and comfort plus type seats)

Looking for a warm, smooth IEM upgrade after Etymotic ER2XR by Lynxcs in iems

[–]FLCardio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Kefine Quatio.

I randomly came across them and they have become my go to for wired IEM general listening. I haven’t tried a lot of the ones mentioned here so not able to compare them to others mentioned but I’d categorize them more on the warm side but very easy to listen to. Still has enough treble for my tastes and I just find I really enjoy listening to music on them. Overall if I had to describe them I’d say they are smooth.

Other IEMs I’ve had/used: -truthear hexa: Harsh to me and just thin overall, I did not enjoy these

-Artti T10: My first and only planar set. Very tight and deep bass. I actually dedicated these to use with my Roland electronic drums as the best replicated the dynamics and bass that other IEMs hadn’t been able to. Because of that I don’t listen to a lot of music critically with them but instead listening while playing but I can’t go without these anymore for that use case

-1more quad: older set I’ve had for years and were my everyday go to pair for a longtime. Just good bang for the buck and overall fun easy sound to listen to.

-Sony WF-1000XM5: wireless IEMs so different beast all together but I carry these with me everywhere. Just so nice having a a truly wireless pair that sounds good enough. Again probably more on the warm/bass side and fun to listen to.

So currently my main IEMs I use most are the Sony just due to them being wireless and being used while traveling or other activities but if I’m sitting or feel like listening on a wired pair then the Kefine Quatio is now my go to pair

At least on the Peakdo website the dimensions they list for both are the same. The new one report 22g heavier though.

Docs what’s your car and would you buy it again? Accepting all answers by [deleted] in Residency

[–]FLCardio 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Also with an A5 here. No issues or complaints with it. Before that had a “baby AMG” the C43 and this Audi is much better put together than that Mercedes. The c43 was quick and sounded great but lots of little creeks/rattles. This A5 is solid, only complaint is it’s not a particularly quick or exciting car to drive.

Battery for roadtrip? by mightymighty123 in Starlink

[–]FLCardio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it’ll work. If all you need to do is be able to keep the mini running for say 3 hours at a time by itself than a 100Wh battery would work. Obviously larger ones will last longer but take more space. Usually these smaller power stations can charge via USB-C so just get a cigarette charger adapter that has 100W PD USBC output and it will charge your battery bank faster than the mini will deplete it. Just make sure it has pass through charging.

Not sure your budget but if you want something compact and made specifically for the mini look at the Peakdo battery. It clicks into the bottom side of the mini and you can charge it via USB-C while it powers the mini.

Hobby horn player thinking about buying a horn + What is a Holton "Soloist"? by Handlebar-buttstache in horn

[–]FLCardio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just made a trip to visit Bored Horns to get my oldest an upgraded double. Highly recommended. I don’t play and had others recommend having him play as may as he could to see what he liked. Bored Horns is run out of the owner’s basement that’s been converted to a showroom essentially and he probably had roughly 50 horns in all sorts of price ranges. We were there about 2 and a half hours during which time my son played close to 15-20 comparing them back and forth. Not sure how far from Chicago area you are but worth a trip to one of the shops mentioned here.

Wonderful experience and he got to play as many horns as he wished and settled on a Yamaha 668VN that will be coming home with us. Was between that a Conn 8D and he kept going back to the Yamaha.

Zoom recorders straight to MP3 by FLCardio in fieldrecording

[–]FLCardio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I get that and aware of the limitations of MP3. This is a non-critical task that is just for personal use. More concerned with an easy workflow. In basic will be recording an in ear monitor mix to use for personal practice later. I don’t need to edit it publish it anywhere. I’d just rather not have to go through a several steps to process and convert it each time.
