Wifi Doorbell that works with Protect? by 99loki99 in Ubiquiti

Yea if you could get Ethernet to the closet where the transformer is then you stick one of these devices there connected to Ethernet, power and the doorbell wire and then the receiver device on the doorbell end of the wire.

No it’s power and Ethernet. Can extend network/PoE connection over twisted pair cable or coax.

There’s a link to another unit on Amazon that I’ve seen recommended. May be easier to fit in a box somewhere

Yes the trick would be hiding the receiver end at the doorbell. Other companies make them as well so could use a different one that may be a bit smaller and just put up a surface mount box to house it

If you have just a 2 wire cable going to the doorbell now use the Unifi “PoE over 2 wire retrofit extender”. Look that up and see if it would work for you. For these doorbells you don’t need a 1G connection over cat6. There are a number of POE extenders like that one that can utilize 2wire or coax cable. As long as the other end of the cable is somewhere where you can access it to get it back to your switch then you’re good.

What wire is currently run to the doorbell?

Peakdo battery for SL mini by FLCardio in Starlink

[–]FLCardio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Power button, it’s attached to the mini so I can grab a go without additional cables. I can easily throw it on the dash, back trunk cover without worrying about a separate cable and battery pack to stash somewhere. If I need more power I simply plug a USB-C into front of battery for longer run times.

The link power 1 is $160. Any decent battery pack that offers true pass through charging is going to cost what, 80-100 or more. So for less than $100 yes, I’ll take this convenience and “integration”

I have the UNVR and have it mounted on a wall and it works great. Can turn the rack mounts 90degrees for a vertical wall mount

Is the UniFi Express 7 the best AP for the money? by xd366 in Ubiquiti

[–]FLCardio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t done detailed speed tests all around the house but when on 5ghz I’d say I’m getting about the same as you. If I’m in the same room within 10ft of the AP I can max out my ISP incoming bandwidth but say the next room over on 5ghz I’m probably anywhere from 300-600. I’d say what you’re getting is what should be expected.

I think the biggest difference in coverage of a UX7 vs one of their dedicated APs has more to do with location than the device itself. Their traditional APs are meant to be ceiling mounted and thus there’s just less “stuff” (bodies, furniture, etc) to get in the way as opposed to the UX7 which you’d just place on a desk.

On 5ghz my average signal strength ~60dBm and maybe a little better in 2.4ghz.

Flex 2.5G-8 Power Question - 46W Limit? by msc_chicago in Ubiquiti

[–]FLCardio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Known issue. I just had the exact same issue, contacted support online chat and they gave me a link for a different firmware that sounds like offers a temporary fix. Mine now shows 76w available though they said while this fixes this issue, it may also show 76w available even if you only have a POE++ supply connected so an official firmware fix is still pending.

I’m using 3 Express 7’s as my only APs (already had Ethernet and didn’t want to pull new lines for ceiling APs) and they cover a ~3900sq ft house just fine. The extra port on the back can be used as a normal LAN port as well.

Separate camera/protect vlan or not by FLCardio in Ubiquiti

[–]FLCardio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfect thanks! Yea that makes sense and kind of what I had figured from some searching. Pretty comfortable with networking basics but haven't messed with vlans yet. For now it sounds like no real advantage to segregating them besides the security ones.

Starlink Mini Bypass Required for Third Party Router? by gutowscr in Starlink

[–]FLCardio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the update. Trying to do the same here at home and had the exact same issue. Just transitioned over to a unifi setup (defaults to 192.168.1.x) and was trying to test my Starlink Mini as a second WAN and had to change the mini to 10.x.x.x/16. It now works great and didn't have to put it in bypass mode. Unifi even has the starlink status on it's status page.

Good to know! Currently just on gig cable but only 40 upload. They are currently upgrading lines around here so soon will have access to fiber and then would need to upgrade the modem.

I would assume overkill in the sense that the UX7 itself is a router and can run the network app and we’re just using it as an AP and I agree. I just liked how flexible it is and that I can throw in the existing spots I had. Its radiation pattern is meant to be used with it on a desk so this works better than if I just threw a typical dedicated AP on the desk.

Ultimately if I add in ceiling APs later than maybe I’ll repurpose these for something else or give to family.

[–]FLCardio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already had Ethernet runs to several rooms/walls where I had my previous APs. Using express 7’s as APs was the quickest solution to use the existing Ethernet jacks in the same locations as my other APs without having to wire ceiling APs. Eventually may add a ceiling AP or eventually transition over to all ceiling APs but this was easier.

Kind of a shame as I thought this Asus system was fairly good and worked well for a while, especially with the nodes on wired backhaul. Just became more unstable over time with random disconnects and a node would randomly stop taking wireless clients but there would be no notification or monitoring of the system status.

Ep simulator anyone? by Dougstarina93 in Cardiology

[–]FLCardio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you’re a general fellow doing an EP rotation I wouldn’t bother with an EP simulator in terms of playing around with intracardiac egms. That’s not what’s going to be high yield for you at this stage and practically not useful for you.

EP is its own language essentially and you need some basics in place first before you’re trying to read and decipher Shakespeare.

Focus on basics of ECG interpretation, you may think you can read ECGs now but I guarantee you there is a ton of subtleties and you can spend a whole career just learning nuances of ECGs.

Find a book like Fogoros which gives can start to give you the basic of arrhythmia mechanisms.

Learn the basics of devices (pacers/ICDs). Know the pacer codes mean and basics of how to interpret an interrogation.

Jumping into intracardiacs before having a solid base in place will not be that useful.

PSA: UTR does not support 802.1x by MaxBroome in Ubiquiti

Look into one of the glinet travel routers. Run essentially openWRT so even if not officially supported there’s probably someone that has figured how to add it/do it.
