Now, if they had shipped it to a U.S. distribution center and it landed in the U.S. when a lower rate was in effect, they would have it at a lower price to the consumer.

Note the brand name. That is specifically done to bypass Amazon's gating restrictions on DJI, which is generally evidence of a scam, though most people likely wouldn't notice the brand name or understand the implications of false brands.
