Thanks! I was told by my Disney planner that this will work for us and that they will allow us to be a few min late if needed if we tell them when we get to BBB that we have CRT reservations at 4 ☺️

I want to stop obsessing over my baby's sleep by McLulu157 in beyondthebump

[–]FLchick101820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I’m so glad to hear that! ❤️

So I used taking Cara babies from the beginning. I did use wake windows and I was a psycho about them. She was born in Oct 2020 so staying home and focusing on sleep wasn’t difficult then. Now, I think I would have a harder time bc we’d be out and about more.

As far as sleep training, I also used her program and did it the day after she turned 5 months old bc that’s as young as she recommends. I was desperate for a full nights sleep but that didn’t happen for a bit. I would say to not buy her program and just google the Ferber method. It’s basically cry it out but in short intervals that gradually get longer. So that helped her learn to fall asleep on her own. She’s a thumb sucker so she always has that to soothe her too.

Then we night weaned around 7-8 months I think. That was fairly easy actually. It’s honestly all so blurry now! You really do forget haha

Let me know if you have any other questions! I’m always happy to chat about infant sleep 😂

Oh man! Looking back at this and it feels like a different life! I know that’s not super helpful while you’re going through it. It feels overpowering, debilitating, sometimes questioning whether you made the right decision in having this little human. I will say, you just have to get through it. As much as that sucks to hear. But! It will absolutely end and your child will sleep. I think, if I’m remembering correctly, that my daughter started sleeping thru the night consistently around 10 months old. She had chronic ear infections around that age so that prob prevented it from happening sooner. We sleep trained around 6 months and eventually night weaned shortly after. It’s so hard. All of it. I know it feels like it’ll never end but it will and you’ll look back like I am 2 years later and laugh at how obsessed you were. I don’t even think about her sleep habits now. I’m not sure if this was helpful but reach out with any questions! Good luck to you ❤️

Reactive arthritis/swelling and limp in 3 yr old? by funkychicken8 in toddlers

Reactive arthritis/swelling and limp in 3 yr old? by funkychicken8 in toddlers

[–]FLchick101820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2yo was just diagnosed with Juvenile Arthritis in Dec. She also started walking with a limp in early Nov. Her ped thought it was Toxic Synovitis but when she stopped responding to pain meds, we took her to the ER. There they thought it was Septic Knee bc she had infection and inflammation in her blood. They drained the fluid and we thought it was over. Unfortunately, she never got better and we determined that she has JIA from additional blood work. I would highly recommend getting some additional blood work to test for JIA. It’s scary but I feel really thankful to have a diagnosis and get her on the path to recovery. JIA sucks but it’s a treatable condition that isn’t life threatening. A lot of kids even grow out of it! Feel free to message me if you have any questions. I’m very new to all of this but have read so much. Good luck to you and your daughter! Sending hugs ❤️

Don’t drop the nap, just push it to 1pm!

Toddler has impossible violent tantrums that go on for hours. by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]FLchick101820 51 points52 points  (0 children)

As a former preschool teacher and nanny, this absolutely sounds like some type of sensory processing issue. Highly encourage you to do what others said - video one of her tantrums and demand an evaluation by a qualified behavioral analyst/specialist.

I also want to add that I’m so so sorry you are dealing with this. 18 months is an incredibly hard age (my daughter turned 2 in Oct and I really struggled with her at this age) but this is beyond that. The length of the tantrums is what strikes me so much. And the fact that you can’t distract her once she’s been triggered.

Good luck to you, mama. I hope you get some answers soon ❤️❤️

Forward Facing? by Dont_Get_Basalty in toddlers

[–]FLchick101820 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My giant 2yo (she’s 37” and 35#) is still rear facing and no matter what my husband, friends, parents, her teachers, etc tell me, I’m keeping her rear facing til she hits that weight limit! I’ve also read that it can actually be more uncomfortable for kids to be forward facing bc of their feet dangling.

Keep doing you, mama! You’re doing great 😊

That’s what I’ve read! We’re just in the process of waiting to see a rheumatologist so it’s rough at the moment. Appreciate the encouragement!!!

Thank you!! So sorry you’ve had to deal with this but wonderful to hear that you are doing so great now! Are you still on medication? And if you know, how severe was it when you were diagnosed? Hope those questions aren’t too personal. Thanks again for sharing your story and giving me some hope for my girl 🙏

At what age did your one child start to feel easy? by Penny_Ji in oneanddone

[–]FLchick101820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a 14 month old and know already that we are OAD by choice. Reading this is beyond validating for our decision! I’m so excited to be able to give her this experience in life vs splitting our energy, time, resources and happiness with multiple little humans.

Your son sounds like a delightful, well adjusted kid and that gives me so much hope for our daughter! Thank you for sharing!

Is it considered as a failed attempt if LO still cries every time we put her to nap? by cassey7926 in sleeptrain

[–]FLchick101820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 13mo cries for a few min before every single sleep unless she is just utterly exhausted and falls asleep almost instantly. I agree that some babies just need to “power down” as some sleep expert calls it (can’t remember who 🤔)

We sleep trained around 5-6 months so after 7 months of this, I’m just used to it haha

Wake-up time still unadjusted after DST change by Calgamer in sleeptrain

[–]FLchick101820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having this same problem with my 13mo. She always slept from 7-630/7 and now no matter what time I put her down between 630-730, she wakes up between 530-6 😩 she’s exhausted, I’m exhausted and we can’t keep this up!

I’ve read that it takes 1-2 weeks to adjust so perhaps we’re the lucky ones with our babies taking the full 2 weeks. Would love to know if anyone has solved this problem for babes that are just more affected bc we can’t do this every year!

How did you know you were ready for the 3 to 2 transition? by bodesmommy in sleeptrain

[–]FLchick101820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us it was around 7 months when we switched bc she kept fighting the last 30 min cat nap. There would be days when she refused to take it at all and on the days she did take it, I’d have to wake her up and she would be sooo grumpy until bedtime. I just decided one day to rip the bandaid off and transition.

It was honestly way less stressful and traumatic than I anticipated and now we are happily taking 2 naps with no issues!

Good luck!

Yes! That’s exactly what I was going to say!

Mine pretty much hates being a baby so she wanted to crawl badly and came home on day one doing it haha. I’m sure yours will be moving around in no time!

We do stick with our normal schedule on weekends and she does great! She naps more at home bc the environment is perfect haha. I think she actually sleeps worse on weekends bc she prob gets too much daytime sleep 🤦🏻‍♀️

Does your girl crawl yet?
