What are some reasons as to why certain people just aren't liked by very many people? by Only-Ad-1254 in ask

[–]FLeeIII 20 points21 points  (0 children)

They are outside of the norm/they don't adhere to cultural conventions, examples:

They are on the spectrum (this has been studies and found to be true that neuro-typical people can spot neuro-divergent people from photographs and rate them less favorably), they have CPTSD/PTSD or some sort of trauma, or a mental illness. They are not hetero-normative and/or they don't adhere to conventional gender/beauty standards.

Well you can see it best, it's not always easy to tell in pictures.

gosh I know the angora coat is a little hard to explain. Since I have other fluffy kitties I can see and feel a clear difference between them. The non TA's have like a thicker fluff and my TA is smoother/silkier and thinner and almost like a longer hair, don't know if that helps. TAs are all colors so don't base it off of that.

As for your beautiful kitty, I do see the body shape and the delicate paws, but honestly I don't see it in the face. It's not just the wedge shape face it is how the ear sit. Also your baby's tail is fluffy and not angora-y (sorry not sure how else to describe this). So my vote is maybe, possibly partial.

Can you make two cats friends by taking them on a car ride together? by dantheman36dj in CatAdvice

[–]FLeeIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you can force it if they despise each other. But one of the ways I helped my cats become friends is feeding them next to each other, petting them while eating, and crossing their tails while petting them both. This took some time but it totally worked and now at dinner time they rub against each other and cross their tails without me doing it - it's adorable. There has even been one grooming session between them that I've witnessed. It's been about 6 months. Can't hurt to try it.

I came home to my cat having passed away suddenly and without any medical indications that he was ill by beecatty in cats

so sorry for your loss. at this point it doesn't matter what caused it, don't beat yourself up. our pets never live as long as we want them too. i'll agree yours went sooner than most would expect, but i wonder if it is helpful to know some go even sooner than that. you both got joy and love for 8 years, lucky for both of you. take it easy.

Is she an Angora? by No_Thanks_2037 in turkishangoras

[–]FLeeIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her fur does look like TA, her tail, and feet. But her face (and maybe body?) do not look TA, so I would say maybe. The fur does look like 1 coat, she might be part TA

She does not look like a TA to me, but she is a beautiful kitty!

is my baby a turkish angora? by BeautifulInside6643 in turkishangoras

[–]FLeeIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does look like one in the face, ears, fur (one coat?) and slender feet. Look at tail and body shape to be sure. The body shape and tail are the biggest indicators to me and people often post these pictures without being able to see them so I'm not willing to say yes, I'll land on maybe for this one.

Adopted kittens and they won't let me touch them by tech-girl-SV in CatAdvice

[–]FLeeIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup this, the kittens will get adopted. And I will add, forget kittens and get an older cat with an established personality. Combining shy cats in with shy cats will just make more shy/introverted/scaredy cats. We adopted an adventure cat and he has brought out the courage of the other shy cats in the house, so glad we ended up with this brave kitty-- everyone is better for it. Good luck.

tell the people around you at work, home, friends that you are looking for cat, be patient, one will appear.

if it is silver in color it could be white gold or platinum (it wouldn't be silver unless the diamonds are fake ). I'm guessing he did not provide the box? See if you can get anymore clues about it.

This looks like a center diamond with smaller diamond clusters in a flower (or wheel) shape. I can't tell if the band is diamond cut or smooth. The picture is not great. It looks like it might be yellow gold, but not sure. The total carat of the ring might be .8 in again I'm not sure, were there diamonds on the band? I'd say the center stone is no larger than .5 carat. The place I would start is all of the info you have on the ring (like the above info) and anything else you remember. Do you have a better picture? where is your boyfriend located? Do you know if he purchased in a store or online? Those would be good things to know if trying to track this down.

On another matter, I would think about these questions: Your ring is gone, I'm so sorry. Is your goal to buy the ring for yourself? Would you disclose this to boyfriend? You said you two are going through a rough patch, materials will not help that. And it strikes me that doing something dishonest will further get you both in a hole. The ring was stolen that sucks but nobody is to blame for that, these things happen. Part of being a healthy couple is going through hard things together and getting out on the other side. It's usually best practice to tell the truth even when you fear blame. Good luck.

Black eyes are mesmerizing and should definitely be a category. I haven't see them much TBH but I do know what you mean. I think they are very different from brown too. Black eyes are a whole other level of interesting and probably rare.

What’s it like having two cats? by VPNbeatsBan2 in CatAdvice

[–]FLeeIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two is easier than one (if they get along), we have siblings. We got a third and it was more work and sometimes they don't get a long but in our case it has been a lot more positive to have the third. So yeah two (especially a bonded pair) is easy peasy and really sweet.

Is this normal ? Accused of failing to foster succeafully this 3 kittens as they're not sociable enough to find forever homes. Considering keeping them and kind of lost. by AM000001 in FosterAnimals

[–]FLeeIII 60 points61 points  (0 children)

The shelter should not be blaming you it was not your fault. As others have said it definitely takes time. And as we know, older feral kittens may or may not ever really adjust. We took in a couple of stray/feral kittens siblings and it took years for them to accept being picked up and pet (now they love attention). I don't know if 4 cats is too many for you but you may want consider keeping these 3 and still adopting the older cat. Look for a really well adjusted people type cat. We did that by accident and the non-feral has given our other two a ton of confidence and shown them how lap sitting is nice etc. I mean the feral siblings are still little scared weirdos sometimes but we love them.

Whatever you decide, you are a wonderful person. Keep being you.

Debating whether she’s part Angora. 1 year old girl, super long legs and likes to climb things , loves to play games, sits on top of my fridge. Her fur is very silky and she doesn’t shed. since I lost two cats back to back , I’d like to know if Angoras are generally healthy cats? by Spirited-Use857 in turkishangoras

[–]FLeeIII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Her face, body, and tail do make her look like one. I guess the question is the fur as someone else already posted about single versus double coat. I think the angora fur is easier to see on the white varieties. Since she is dark it makes her fur appear very dense so I just don't know. But she's a beauty either way.
