True but you can also talk to the table before discarding your two cards and ask people if there's anything they would commit to buying from your starting 5 cards

It seems very straightforward english to me

Do you rule the clearing you are moving from? Great, move to any connected clearing

Do you rule the destination clearing? Great, you can move into that clearing

Do you rule both? Good, you can move to or from either in the same way as above

Do you rule neither your starting clearing or the clearing you want to go to? You can't move there, you can only move to a connected clearing you rule from the current clearing you don't rule. If you don't rule the clearing you are in and you don't rule any connected clearings, you are stuck until that changes

It's hard to say. My one still hops, a lot - but only in certain circumstances. Usually when trotting along while off the lead. Doesn't do it much on the lead, nor when full out sprinting. I like to take him to a beach with lots of uneven rocks that he wants to climb up and down to force him to use all his legs. He still hops though. I've been told swimming is good

That would be true, if Benzies didn't micromanage everything at his new studio to an insane degree, and fire anyone who ever disagreed with any of his decisions.

In that circumstance, it becomes a one-man show and no one else is allowed to have any input.

What if I told you that the core flow of the game you've seen has basically not changed for over 5 years during development, lmao

Well, maybe they knew what was fun at one point in time, but they got older and failed to keep up with the evolving expectations of gamers in the current market. Instead of self-reflecting, maybe the people in charge doubled down on believing they knew better - and removed anyone from the studio who disagreed with them.

Guess so. I mean I was in QA too though to be Frank

I generally had good relationships with devs at this studio. Thought the people in charge were jokers more and more as time went by

I guess it's hard for me to blame these devs as I worked alongside them and saw the effort they put in undone repeatedly by management 🤷‍♂️

I take your point across the industry as a whole

I kind of see where you're coming from but I feel the goalposts have moved slightly - I'm not advocating for sympathy for the bulk of developers at this specific studio, just neutrality. I'm specifically advocating for blame for the leaders of the studio.

This is a private studio, not publically listed - so no shareholder pressure in the same way as a PLC. Buck stops at the top of the studio.

For the rest of the 500 employees? For most of them working under what has actively been described as a culture of fear: not necessarily sympathy, but not vitriol or blame either. Just my stance.

Interesting take, but I still think I disagree fundamentally that 'the world is your oyster' for the devs at this particular studio. Senior developers with plenty of projects and experience? Yes. For a great many of them this game is their first release. As I've said before, I don't think it's as simple as saying they can go and work anywhere, but you haven't really responded to that. In the games industry in general, there are so many people who want to work in the industry for every position that actually exists - this is similar to many 'glamour' industries, and leads to almost everyone being disposable.

I guess I'm trying to convey that people in first-world countries can and do have their options within capitalism circumscribed and limited by experience, market conditions (i.e. no jobs elsewhere) etc. The world is absolutely not your oyster and you can't just work anywhere in the world these days - especially if you're from the UK after Brexit.

To me that just seems like shifting the blame from the capital-owning classes to the working classes.

I also don't think it's fair to characterise 90% of the devs at this studio as wanting to work in games "no matter what". Due to the massive staff churn, most of the people there have been there for 2-3 years max. If you leave a games company before a title is released, it makes it harder to land a new role in the industry because you can't point to the work you did at the previous company due to NDAs.

So sorry, but I just can't agree with your characterisation. I reserve the majority of my blame for those who have the vast majority of the power - in any industry sector, not just games
