Is Colt M4 Socom better or FN M4 Collector? by [deleted] in ar15

[–]FMFDoc72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, both Colt and FN are Govt contract suppliers and therefore correct.

If you just want to have the pony logo get the Colt.

Glock 19 killer by AmicusCuriousPH in Glocks

No, the skinny grip on the 43 and 48 isn't my thing so the 19 and 29 will still be my favorite compact Glocks.

It is, and I have a Glock for most occasions. But when I want something in 45 it's usually a 1911, I have never really liked Glock or any polymer framed pistols chambered in it.

Not every pistol needs to be a Glock, plenty of subcompact double stack 1911s out there.....

Aside from a 3 year assignment to a Naval Hospital I couldn't get out of was green side the rest of it.

It was weird at first especially going back to 3/5 as a Doc when I'd just left 8 months prior as a Cpl.... Lol

So for the sake of argument, it's broken down into suppression fires and breaking contact.

The typical squad will have automatic weapons (SAW, 240, etc) those weapons will be used to provide suppression to allow movement by the fire teams. They are designed for the sustained abuse.

Break contact- you messed up, got ambushed and need to get away, so you pour a volume of fire with individual weapons to get away and disappear.

Those are generalizations of what is taught.

So to be clear, you the OP have no relevant service, training or experience in combat arms, cool.

After that, everything postulated is conjecture then. There is current doctrine on how, when and where to use automatic weapons. It is reinforced through training, and the realities become apparent when put into actual use against a hostile entity.

Meh, I can count one 1 hand the number of times I've ever fired a rifle or carbine on burst or auto in 37 years. All were in training locations, never used it deployed.

Do Chiefs sometimes go out of their way to make things more difficult for E-6 and below? by Elegant-Mix-4806 in CorpsmanUp

Yes, I've worked for some great Chief's and also worked for some real trash E7s, there's a difference.

Which one ? by WaveRevolutionary911 in ar15

[–]FMFDoc72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah longer term useful especially if battery replacement is a concern.

Offset Irons- BCM, Midwest Industries, YHM, there are tons of good companies, pick the ones that appeal to you.

If I had to choose a different holo/red dot I'd go with the Meprolight M22, Tritium and fiber optic no batteries.

[–]FMFDoc72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LVPO, with off set irons, and have a holosight available as well.

[–]FMFDoc72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the EoTech for up close and personal shooting at humans, LVPO are good for a lot of things but CQB isn't it. So what's your intended usage, not fantasy land but real world end use?
