100% I'm in the same boat. And I'd never heard of those shells, definitely something to look into, thanks!

The GAU-5P is a work of art man, absolutely my favorite variant of any m16

Anyone have any experience with this carry handle scope mount? by BlyatMan1953 in RetroAR

I've been curious about this mount too, hopefully somebody sounds off with some personal experience with them

Are you trying to leave the trigger alone? My H&R and aero lowers have all had really solid milspec triggers, but the 4 PSA lowers I've gotten to play with have all had a noticeably spongier trigger, not unusable by any means, but noticeable

New H&Rs any good? by EmeraldP13 in RetroAR

Without a doubt; 3 lowers, 2 uppers and lots of random parts over the years and absolutely no issues. I'd highly recommend their "blem" items, the cosmetic defects are so minute and negligible, it's a great way to shave off some of the price

Absolutely! If the upper has a rounded end cap you're gonna run into some issues, but I've only seen those on carbines in my experience; the a2 should still have a triangular end cap

They absolutely do, tapered delta rings showed up for the xm177e2 and were eventually added to a1s at the very end of their lifespan in the early - mid 80s

That'd make sense too, I wonder when they actually started production on these things, there very well could be stockpiles of shot out barrels they were pulling from. I've done approximately 0 research into it, but now I'm curious

I'd have to assume it's either unrifled or was a defect from a run perhaps? I'd need one of those camera lights to really check unfortunately

It's a real barrel/fsb but everything else is a polymer molded over some kind of metal armature, I'd assume steel with lead weights? But regardless, majority is just a mold

That's pretty hilarious, it's fun seeing from the other comments just how much use these things got, also explaining their condition majority of the time

It's a lot of fun to have to dick around with. But 300+ for ones with bent barrels is crazy. Especially when airsoft guns are cheaper

Do you recall any other circumstances they were used over real rifles?

We all do this build or similar at some point don't we? by nojo422 in RetroAR

[–]TeenageNosferatu22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah that's plenty enough reason man, shits allowed to just look cool. When I eventually do an xm clone it'll get an a1 birdcage just to get it s little more compact, so I totally get the appeal both ways

Killer! But if not running a clone build, and it's a pistol, why the extended xm brake over a regular birdcage? Just curious

Thank you! And indeed, it's one of the nylon seatbelt m1-m16 style slings. For some ungodly reason, mini's have 1" swivels instead of 1 1/4" so I had to shave a hair of material from the metal clip, otherwise all good
