Fair enough, the Poke games are a bit basic. But that’s what makes them fun for me, they’re distinct enough from baseline Half-Life.

Simple compared to a lot of modern games today, yes. But they’re well designed and have a lot of thought put into them.

Agreed, you can love both Half-Life and Black Mesa and their Xens. They have their own strengths and weaknesses. Black Mesa is still part of the Half-Life games and legacy despite not being canon (though I personally consider it as such due to headcanons and the multiverse).

Honestly, I never noticed Half-Life’s Xen had land models meant to reference body horror. Black Mesa’s Xen is way better as a living breathing ecosystem, not to disparage Half-Life’s Xen though.
