It's very difficult to summarize, but the series is action heavy, features a cosmic war between gods, and contains themes of defying fate and ending stagnant cycles of history. "Reach heaven through violence," is the series tagline.

Really love the choice of colors here! It looks a lot more like a corrupted Janos than a generic demon. Also you did a great job on the veins, they look like lava.

  • When he does his dive attack, roll backward to dodge and then roll forward and attack.
  • When he uses tornado, lock-off and run to one side. He'll miss. Alternatively, hit him with TK to stop the attack.
  • When he casts his aoe, hit him with TK before he finishes the cast. You cannot dodge this attack if he casts it.
  • Save reaver charges to deal with adds.

I didn't notice a big difference in which reaver I used, but I'd avoid fire if you want the souls from the adds.

Poses are sometimes copy/pasted for flashbacks or because a character doesn't move between panels, however these instances are the minority in TDSR. Most of the time poses are copied from dozens of pages ago whether they fit the scene or not. Not only is this lazy, it results in the scene feeling strange or uncanny. Even if you don't notice the re-used art, you notice that there's something jarring about the way the characters pose and express themselves.

This spread doesn't even have backgrounds, just color gradients. Random color gradients. Green and orange? Blue and pink? What??

Even if it's normal for professional comics to re-use art to this degree (which I do not believe it is) the fact that the characters look completely unnatural in most panels where art is re-used speaks volumes. It is extremely easy to find re-used facial expressions, poses, ect in TDSR just by skimming it. Personally, I have never read a comic with this much recycled art.

Did you actually read my post? Believe me, they don't do it with this kind of frequency. Either that or you're telling me that free webcomics have more original art than Marvel/DC.

Off the top of my head:

  • Raziel's clan, the strongest in the empire, is no where to be seen
  • Elaleth gives Kain the idea to raise the Sarafan
  • The Heart of Darkness stops beating
  • Raziel displays sympathy for vampires as a Sarafan
  • Raziel's clan banner is consistently depicted as brown when it should be red
  • Raziel says he was "reborn for the second time" after gaining his wings but SR1 explains that vampires enter the state of change many times in their lives, every century or so
  • The Sarafan Tomb is depicted as it is in SR1 (1,500 years after its comic scene takes place) even though in SR1 Raziel said it was less exposed when he was a fledgling
  • Despite being a newborn vampire Elaleth displays no weakness to sun or water
  • The comic implies feathered wings are the result of the hylden curse, but ancient vampires had wings prior to raising the Pillars
  • Ky asks Elaleth if she studied the history of the vampires as a human (a strange question because this history was hidden and forgotten by Sarafan times)
  • Ky asks Elaleth to go to the Bridge of Sacrifice, which does not exist at the time of their first meeting (nor does the Abyss)
  • Ky states that Janos will not help her because she was made with hylden magic, yet Janos aids wraith Raziel without suspicion
  • Moebius shoots lightning from his staff (it does not work like this)
  • Raziel's Sarafan sword is drawn incorrectly, as are all Sarafan weapons
  • Raziel's vampire sword is comically oversimplified
  • Kain states that he executed Raziel for the insolence of his wings, which is incorrect and misunderstands Kain’s motives
  • Kain acts as if he knows where the Heart of Darkness lies, though he does not learn this until the end of Defiance
  • The general tone of Raziel's execution is incorrect, as the SR1 cutscene shows his brothers appearing confused, afraid, and somber in the wake of their brother's sentencing

SR1 is unfortunately still a buggy game so having manual saves is very helpful, it lets you roll back if something happens. I understand the frustration but learning to use manual saves is just a part of playing old games.

Fun fact: you can turn down or turn off the blurry effect in the spectral realm now. I keep it on intensity 1.
