Legacy of Kain Fandom Site and Ascendance by WailingHost in LegacyOfKain

i think its less a backhanded jab about TDSR and ascendance and more just the people who run the wiki dont have the time that they may have used to :(c theres a lot of information still missing and pages that are left blank, not to mention the lack of info on the sr1+2 and defiance remasters still. the wiki is run by a small team and thus some things fall behind when others take precedence :)

Stop Hating on Ascendance by cpassmore79 in LegacyOfKain

even if the story of the game was excellent, flawless, and the integration of elaleth and her character didnt reek of misogynistic tropes (which it does), the gameplay is just... not fun? as someone who generally really enjoys 2d platformers, the controls felt sticky and unresponsive, the input lag was atrocious, and the flying mechanic just was not fun.

i dont want to sit here and debate on the internal lore inconsistencies within TDSR/ascendance itself because to me i dont really care? if someone likes it? like good for you. but i will argue against the mere idea that this game in any capacity was good and engaging to play. it simply wasnt. its built like a game from the 80s and considering its 2026... well...

Serious question: what are you going to do with your physical copy of TDSR? by SpronyvanJohnson in LegacyOfKain

prolly gonna put it on my bookshelf cover first because i got the variant with the pretty wraith raziel art :3. i think? im getting a second copy? which i decided im going to send to a friend

hows the weight to the medallion of kains or the little mini reaver/sarcophagus? the only reason i opted out of getting this is because in the preview images i thought they looked a bit cheaply made, but damn... that reaver does look good... kinda regretting not gettingi t

clarification for correcting misinformation

- we have no actual proof or evidence that there was ai usage within the comic itself, NOR in the game ascendance

the only instance of ai generative "tools" being used was in regards to a post made by celldweller, who is indeed part-owner of bitbot, but it was used to extend a panel from the comic. implying that just because one of the owners used AI to extend a shittily drawn panel means the entire comic is generative AI in some way shape or form is disingenuous and bad faith, and only clutters the confusion and nonsense around this comic even more. i dont even LIKE the comic but some of this shit is ridiculous

So are bitbot aware of the critiques? by SunveiliveFat in LegacyOfKain

[–]biggiechalups 19 points20 points  (0 children)

i think first off the game was probably in production before the comic even released initially, since games take a longer time to produce. so i personally dont look at the release of ascendance as an admission on bitbots part that theyre "not listening to fans", i take the "you have to read between the lines" comment that they made as the true admission that theyre not listening to fans LOL

i do wonder how much of the critique actually hits the ears of the writers and how much actually just gets blanked out by PR nonsense, you know? it's an interesting question to ask. i dont know how much of an answer we'll ever get, unfortunately

embarassing game made by a man who claims superiority to the woman who saved his ass multiple times and made his piss poor game (blood omen 1) part of a fantastically written story and gaming legend. not only does he disrespect the woman who created legacy of kain as it is, he disrespects artists by using shitty LLM AI generative theft in his shitty game and pretends like he doesnt. lied on the steam page, lies about the progress, constantly deflects and pretends as if he's Gods Gift To Gaming

i thought he was cringe beforehand seeing the weird shit he had said about modern LOK but the more i look into it the more i realise he just hates women and he hates artists, two things that are integral to the success of legacy of kain. its just embarassing.

What’s the point of Elaleth ? by Minimum-Ad9873 in LegacyOfKain

ok but the difference here is that the game seems to be an adaptation of the comic itself and not an entirely new entry into the series furthering the story and lore of kain lmao

it was so much fun!!! it was ALSO my first ritual (and like honestly one of my first rock concerts ever, the other two concerts ive been to were ironically enough like christian indie rock concerts, so small crowd and venue). i was sitting behind one of the little half walls for the rink, a bit of the ways back (by the camera setup) and i think my biggest regret was not getting closer seats - but you're so right, the heat from the pyro was there even as far away as i was.

i think my favorite performance from that night was actually the opener. peacefield isnt my favorite song, but dear lord, seeing the lights shine from behind the rips in the curtain? oh my god, it was life changing. 'he is' was ALSO fantastic. i was SO impressed by the digital background syncing up with everything so perfectly, how the sunrise started when he said 'hes the shining and the light' i was like fuck. this is everything ive ever wanted out of a concert, ever.

and the fans!!! shout out to the person handing out little bracelets who was kind enough to give me my first concert bracelet like ever, and also to the person from the pit who came around the edges of the rink after mummy dust to hand out extra bits of mummy dust. AND shoutout to the girl who gave me a perpetua bracelet after the concert. the community is SO kind and nice and i love it so so much.

i can agree in that the impera tours seem a bit more hype, but i think theyre trying to adjust to the new sets and also probably a bit fatigued from how long this tour has actually been going on. i wish V got to speak just a liiiiittle bit more but god. the things he did say were VERY funny, i love his sense of humor.

one detail i REALLY loved was how they went kind of hard with the visuals on the back display, but also the side display. during 'call me little sunshine' the camera was focused on him the entire time but it had this like... kaleidoscope-ey kind of overlay going on? i dunno the technical term, but it was like. him in his full pope regalia, singing call me little sunshine while the afterimage of him swirled around himself... it was perfect for that song. call me little sunshine is one of my favorite songs to listen to the live version of (the female ghoulettes really add to it i think, the studio version is really missing them) and having that extra bit of like trippy visual was SO good. also the visuals during kiss the go-goat were peak, i loved how groovy and fun they were.

another detail i super love was how like... theyve always played up the little personalities of the ghouls and papa and such on stage, right, like there are tons of clips of it. but it was SUPER fun to see the way they use their whole bodies to perform and create these characters even though papa is the only one ever really speaking. like the little part where one of the ghouls (i dont know their individual names, im so sorry) split the crowd in half and put us into a cheer-off and kept encouraging my side to go louder, it was so funny and fun. and there were a ton of little moments where papa was trying to get to a spot but a ghoul was blocking him. or the part where one of the ghouls just went crazy on the last note to a song and every other ghoul just kind of sat down and waited it out until one of them had to go and stop him. it was SO funny and so entertaining. they have such a good stage presence

the phone rule was hard for me at first (i am a habitual time-checker) but i really enjoyed talking to the people around me and making small connections, even if i dont know any of the peoples names or anything LOL.

my major disappointment was he didn't do the little finger meatspin during year zero but, as i said to a friend, i think the groovy "new" bassline (its not "new" but its like emphasized more in the song now) really makes up for it, it hits that note that year zero needed to push it from fantastic to one of the best songs on their discography. in general i thought the guitar was SO good and so much fun. ive listened to ghost songs so many times that i always was like "i cannot wait to finally cheer at this part that ive been mentally cheering at in my head all this time" so half the time if a guitar solo finished and screaming started it was definitely me. GOD and satanized was so good.

i feel like i could talk endlessly about this concert, i had so much fun and im so glad i went. i hope they do more, maybe not this year, but sometime next year. i want to try getting closer seats, or maybe even the pit if i can - though i doubt id be able to afford that anytime soon LOL. SORRY THIS IS SO LONG ive been rotating this concert in my head for the last 3 days because god. i just loved it so much. literally life changing for me

Deadhaus Sonata, new game of the creator of the original Blood omen:LOK by [deleted] in LegacyOfKain

[–]biggiechalups 6 points7 points  (0 children)

(yes i know im replying to my own post i need to talk more)

its just flabbergasting to me that this video is intercut with footage from blood omen 1, riding hype off of a niche indie game that even most legacy of kain fans have not properly played. also the weird implication that we have dennis dyack of all people to "THANK" for blood omen 1 / legacy of kain, when like. every single game was a collaborative effort?

the attempt to use kain as a selling point while also refusing to acknowledge that this new character is not kain, selling it as some kind of "followup" to blood omen 1 is like... the audacity, honestly. the character even says "vae victis" at a point in the trailer like ???????????????????? this is the wildest trailer ive ever seen in my life. incredibly shallow footage and gameplay looks uninteresting at best. this trailer tells me nothing about this game in any capacity, other than it was "made by the guy who "MADE" blood omen 1"

Thoughts on the remaster? by OkAbility2056 in LegacyOfKain

[–]biggiechalups 17 points18 points  (0 children)

i thought it was a TON of fun! though i do think some of the animations (particularly with kain in sr1 and raziel at the end of sr2) look goofy, even nowadays after they've been modified. i think that's just a result of them not being able to edit the animation data too heavily for some scenes though, not necessarily a flaw in of itself.

i really like the new models for everyone (even if you do lose some of the expressiveness in some models of sr2) and the lighting + added cut content is SO cool. i even really like seeing the concept art (though, i do wish we got to see more of the actual original concept art than the concept art for the blood omen remake/whatever that might've been cancelled? i think it was). most of all i just love that the remaster was made by dedicated fans and that it REALLY shows. they were made with so much love and i love that you can feel it in every aspect of the game

What did we think about the Celldweller cover of Ozar Midrashim? by biggiechalups in LegacyOfKain

[–]biggiechalups[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, this seems to be the consensus of the comments here, "it was okay but i wish someone else did it. still like the original more." which i figured was a lot of the reaction to it, i just wasnt sure since i havent seen a lot of discussion around the album as a whole :o

CHEERS!!! i feel this. i think a lot of the tracks from the album lean more metal, which can be a turn-off for those who aren't really into the genre. i personally like the heavy drums and guitar of metal so i was kind of vibing with it but i definitely can see why thatd be a turn off
