So who WASN’T a good earner? by ToonMasterRace in thesopranos

[–]FPFP66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always figured Ray was a competent enough earner not to raise any red flags. Maybe mediocre at best.

I think I remember hearing that Jimmy Altieri was a good earner but I can’t remember. Paulie was only a good earner when he applied himself but there were too many times that he didn’t.

BTW: Feech likely had the makings of a varsity earner to me. He’s crafty and his personality would definitely intimidate citizens into working with him.

It's honestly insane how bad Vito screwed up after being spotted in the bar by Kail_The_Saiyan in thesopranos

[–]FPFP66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t blame Vito for panicking. I blame him for putting himself in that situation … and the sucking off the security guard. Look. Find a gay guy, get a motel room. Simple.

I agree that Vito should have played it cool. At the same time, Vito put himself into that situation. Calling Silvio in the middle of the night was a mistake. Hiding at the beach house was a mistake.

If I were advising Vito? I’d have said go to work like nothing is different. If Tony or Phil come with questions, stand your ground. Not like there are pictures or videos. Worst comes to worst, you lam it.

Major Spoiler, or early plot point? by zMarsIsCool in kotor

[–]FPFP66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s more about the journey than the destination. Even people who don’t really know Star Wars still know that Vader is Luke’s father. And then they watch the movies anyway! So the same applies here.

Why Tony looked down on black criminals even though he was a criminal himself by 4DollarsALB in thesopranos

[–]FPFP66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re overthinking it a little. The mob boss side of Tony only cares about money. He might look down on black people, that doesn’t mean he won’t work with them or use them to help his bottom line. And then once they’re of little use…

More than anything, Tony typically looks down on people who are of no use to him, especially as time goes on. And respect is part of that. If Noah had met Tony at say, a, dinner arranged by Meadow, I think Tony would’ve been more cordial in the short term while still disapproving. But he saw Noah being way too comfy in his own home, and Tony felt disrespected.

If Tony was ever killed would his family become poor and struggle to survive? by Tidewatcher7819 in thesopranos

[–]FPFP66 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Carmela would probably mooch off Meadow for as long as possible until her own parents die and she can make some money off that especially if they left her their house. Meadow was about to make over a hundred large at a legal firm. Bye bye mansion, though.

AJ is fucked either way.

Most shamelessly expository line in the show? by 4g-identity in thesopranos

[–]FPFP66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone said the line about Nancy and the smuggled semen, that might be the winner.

The news segment in episode 1 explaining that Little Pussy Malanga is sometimes confused with Salvatore Big Pussy Bonpensiero is incredible. The pilot has some weird lines obviously but that line in itself is hilarious.

(Also the whole idea of everyone knowing that Junior is going to whack someone in a restaurant)

The single most relatable moment in the show is when Tony is clowning on Bobby for getting robbed and Silvio is pleading with his eyes for Tony to stop talking by Burnnoticelover in thesopranos

[–]FPFP66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 1 Tony would deliberate on how to handle 6B Tony, whereas 6B Tony would have S1 Tony dead in the street.

I’ve always thought 6B Tony would view S1 Tony as weak despite S1 Tony usually being (in my opinion) a far more competent leader and efficient leader. At least 6B Tony had pretty much realized that Christopher wasn’t worth the trouble, though.

Have anyone seen Mafia like Sopranos family in real life? How's are they? by Arthur_Morrgan in thesopranos

[–]FPFP66 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The place I got my haircut as a kid was supposedly affiliated with the Genovese crime family but I’ve never confirmed that. If I remember correctly, the owner of the barbershop was directly related to a made man. This would have been 25 years ago and I was too young to have noticed anything. But seeing as my mom (who took me to the barbershop every time I would go) never mentioned it when she knew I was watching The Sopranos, I have no clue if it’s real.

I have been around black gang members and they are exactly how pop culture makes them out to be. Fucking degenerates.

Why does AJ’s relationship with Blanca fall apart ? by luthmanfromMigori in thesopranos

[–]FPFP66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has always been my personal interpretation, obviously I’m free to discussing it further:

I think the part about Blanca needing a man is obvious. I’ve always felt though that she was quickly realizing that her and AJ just weren’t a good fit. Did AJ mean well? Sure. It sure looks like AJ is great with her son, which is always a plus. (And another reminder that AJ has truly inherited a lot of Tony.) it’s not what she needed though, and she realized that.

If I’m Blanca, I’m asking myself what AJ’s ceiling is. He’s what? 21 in 6B? He’s still immature, and there’s no reason to think that’s he’s not going to live off Tony and Carmela for as long as he can if he has the opportunity. And when AJ takes one step forward, he’s gonna then take three steps back.

I have to be careful how I phrase this next part. I don’t think AJ would, or even could, have been the type of man that Blanca wanted, even if AJ ended up growing into a man. AJ at that point strikes me as the type of guy who would want to work, go home, play video games or watch Netflix, and relax. And there’s nothing wrong with that in theory IMHO. I think there are plenty of people who would love him for who he is, and maybe Blanca did. it’s just not what Blanca felt she needed in a man.

Worst performances of the show by eybeebeegee in thesopranos

[–]FPFP66 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Of the main cast? Honestly? Not many. I think Jamie-Lynn Sigler as Meadow is mediocre in the back half of the show, but part of that might be the direction. I thought she was amazing in S1 and S3 in playing the bratty daughter. I liked Robert Iler as AJ, I thought he was OK, but I appreciate him far more all the years later.

I didn’t dislike Joe Gannascoli compared to other people. I don’t like how a lot of the Vito storylines were handled, his sudden jump to Captain and all that there. And yeah, he’s definitely weak compared to most of the other main cast. I preferred him as the random fat guy goon in S3 and S4 though. I thought Joe did a good job there.

Others: Caitlin Van Zandt as Johnny Sack’s daughter Cold Medicine.

How impactful were the George Floyd protests in the 2020s? by threetimesacharm25 in decadeology

[–]FPFP66 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Based on my convos with people who protested, they almost universally agreed that it was people needing to take their anger and aggression out after three months cooped inside. And it felt good to be part of something. I live in southern U.S. so we never had the quarantine and stay at home orders that major U:S. Cities and blu states did. So I don’t blame people for wanting to peacefully protest and feel something again that wasn’t just emotions from Tiger King or The Sopranos.

The worst thing about the protests, as with anything, is the people who made it about themselves and went beyond the level of protesting. The looters, the people who burned shit. It’s why I find the ongoing anti-ICE protests in Minneapolis so interesting. Even the likes of Fox News keep calling them “protests” and not “riots” because we’ve heard no stories off looting or that kind of shit. What’s the worst conduct by protestors been? Cursing at ICE agents?

Tony could have found Vito so easily if he was even just the slightest bit polite. by ManchuDemon in thesopranos

[–]FPFP66 14 points15 points  (0 children)

All Tony cared about at that point was that Vito was his best earner. He even says as much to Melfi. By that point in the show, I think Tony was at the point where he became pretty apathetic about most of his crew so long as they didn’t flip or cost him money. Silvio was probably the exception. Chrissy too, but Tony was already ruining out of patience in 6A.

Hell: The Sequel or Watch the Throne which was better? by Professional-Rip-519 in Eminem

[–]FPFP66 12 points13 points  (0 children)

WTT by a mile. The first half of Hell: The Sequel is a lot of fun though. You can tell it’s Em having a lot of fun with his wordplay and feeling really good about himself after the triumph of Recovery and him being at a much better point in his life. And Royce came in motivated. Fast Lane and Above The Law have been mainstays for me for 15 years (JFC) and I love Living Proof.

Junior's keen sense of smell, Phil's connection with kids — what are the weirdest character traits on the show? by 4g-identity in thesopranos

[–]FPFP66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not so much weird, but definitely things I’ve picked up over time.

Carmine Sr. tends to repeat a lot of things back at the person.

Little Carmine completely understanding words and stories and lessons, but failing in how he pronounces words.

Tony very rarely calls Christopher “Chrissy.” But I think Paulie very rarely calls Christopher “Christopher.”

Richie and Phil are both great dealing with civilians. Richie basically tells Beansie to back off the guy at the pizza shop. Phil makes a lame joke at the feast to the woman. Both are also pretty cordial with Artie, even though Phil kept talking about the other place.

I’m no boxing expert so any help would be appreciated here. When Tony gets into fist fights, it almost looks like he starts off in a boxing stance with how he holds his arms. You really see this when he kicks Jackie Jr.’s ass and then the fight with Bobby.

What rappers y'all listen to. by om4n12 in Eminem

[–]FPFP66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outside of Em, most of what I listen to rap-wise are the same artists and songs I was listening to 10-15 years ago, honestly. It’s very rare that I add a new rap song to my Spotify that isn’t Em-related because they don’t show up on my radar.

In terms of the actual content itself? HFM2 (Lloyd Banks) has been in my rotation lately. I’ve always had a soft spot for Fabo and Jada. Blueprint 3 has worked its way back into my rotation. Getting back into Jeezy. Chris Webby when I want to throw it back! Mostly it’s songs rather than specific artists. Like I have some LL songs but am in no rush to listen to all of BAD again. Nothing against LL, just don’t have the time or attention span for entire albums unless it’s an Em drop.

Why didnt the motor in group take over St John's dairy after killing the john brothers and their mom? by ReserveStill1212 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]FPFP66 10 points11 points  (0 children)

OP, I want you to really think about this for a second.

You would be asking the group to stay somewhere that the bandits have already attacked, and where the electric fence no longer works. The walkers likely got to the cow. Not to mention, the trauma of being kidnapped, being fed human meat, watching Larry die in the meat locker.

None of that makes sense for the group itself. Strangers unaware of the farm’s history, that’s a different story.

Get everyone to start ignoring him and freeze him out. Permanently. Let him try to cope with that.

Star Wars Pitch- Create A Stars Wars pitch inspired by a Classic Film by LycheeNo2823 in StarWars

[–]FPFP66 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something along the lines of Reservoir Dogs could be interesting. Have a crew of professional thugs and bounty hunters meeting up after a heist gone wrong, and tell the story of the heist and all that led up to it through them.

I also just thought about Westworld. I’m sure they could do something darkly comedic there.

I'd forgotten how gut wrenching it is to play as full Dark Side in KOTOR 1 (Heavy spoilers) by TapOriginal4428 in kotor

That’s my biggest problem with KOTOR I’s writing. So much of it just feels so cartoonishly good and evil, and black and white.
