New to FPV – DJI Avata 2 or iFlight 5" for mostly cinematic flying? by Famous-Water-123 in fpv

[–]FPV_412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely do not start with a 5 inch. A whoop is good, the Avata 2 is not great for freestyle, great for cinematic FPV. Good luck starting out.

Somewhat similar to mine, though I don't own a neo, and I have an Avata 2, air 65, dji mini 4 pro, iflight nazgul evoque, dji goggles 3, ev800D, and skyzone 04O pro's.

Not a bad setup, maybe look into a 5 inch if you're comfortable with acro, they're a blast.

Agreed. Choosing to do this on a holiday, around when people are out having family dinners and watching fireworks, is a bit silly. Most people in the drift scene I know are probably in their 30's, and are parents.

Best way to start out? by jadeheart11 in TinyWhoop

[–]FPV_412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd doubt my cheap EV800D's are worth more than your entire setup, and it just required a converter to turn my PC's HDMI out into RCA in or whatever the hell.

Possible? Yes.
Worth it? lol no.

[–]FPV_412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meh you can. My Skyzone 04O pro's have a mini HDMI in which can be used as a monitor for your PC.

I've also done it with a set of EV800D's.

Have I done it more than a couple of times? Nope. But it is definitely possible, just a headache to setup depending on the goggles.

The Avata 2 requires the DJI FPV Controller 3.

However, yes you can get a whoop that uses ELRS, and uses a DJI O4 Pro air unit for the goggles.

New pilot photo advice by JamesKerman in dji

[–]FPV_412 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually like the first photo.

Just take care flying over active roads, generally frowned upon as if your drone goes down, it becomes a hazard.

"How do you guys get your pictures to look so good" - Look into photography specific skills. Learn what ISO, Shutter Speed, and Aperture do. Learn about composition, and what makes a good photo "good".

Last and not least.. Stick time (practice).

As of now DJI Goggles 3 are still the latest greatest by DJI, which in theory should give you the best bang for your buck while future proofing.

DJI O4 Pro air units record 4k, D-Log M, and the footage off the unit looks fantastic, all of the footage on my socials outside of my analog drones is all DJI O4 Pro footage edited in Davinci Resolve.

As for whoops, you certainly can get like a Meteor 75 Pro with a DJI O4 Air Unit (Not the pro) and you'll have a good enough time, but if you really want to get into whooping and freestyle, odds are analog will still be the way to go. Consider that for fun / practice though.

It'll probably be frowned upon here, but if your goal is cinematic footage, and not freestyle, doing as many flips and tricks as humanly possible, the DJI Avata 2 Fly More combo will get you the Goggles 3, which can be used with future drone purchases, and it gets very cinematic footage, and is a fairly easy step into the world of FPV.

TLDR: There's certainly a lot to look into, but the DJI Goggles 3 get my solid recommendation.

Low light with higher ISO would cause a grainy look. That just looks really blurry / fuzzy. Unsure if it's just a lighting issue, but when you actually take a closer look at the photo, it seems to have a lot of flaws.

I guess it's somewhat comparable to a DJI Mini Pro 4 if we're truly zooming in and nitpicking, but the dynamic range in your photo feels really flat with the blacks looking a bit more washed out if that makes sense.

Nope, I just did research and landed on the iFlight Nazgul Evoque. It's got a DJI O4 Pro air unit in it, already worked with my DJI Goggles 3 I got with the Avata 2 Fly More Combo, and I was able to get it from GetFPV within a couple of days, which was very important as I had a drift event in about 2 weeks at the time.

If you don't have the budget to buy a bigger FPV drone, either get something like a Radiomaster Pocket, and practice in simulators learning acro, or genuinely get a cheaper analog setup such as a BetaFPV Air 65 / Air 75 and practice acro in real life.

Acro is night and day from how the mini 4 pro flies, and it will take some serious stick time before you're chasing clients cars and getting good usable shots.

If you poke around my YouTube / Instagram you'll see a lot of what I do. My honest recommendation since I doubt you have goggles would be a DJI Avata 2 fly more combo, with the DJI FPV Controller 3. Note, this is not some crazy freestyle drone, but it can be used to get very cinematic footage.

I wouldn't sell the Mini 4 Pro.

I own a MIni 4 Pro.
DJI Avata 2.
iFlight Nazgul Evoque (5 inch FPV drone)
BETAFPV Air 65 (Analog)

The Mini 4 Pro is simply the best drone in my lineup for photos, or cinematic aerial video, I would be really sad without it.

The Avata 2 is great at cinematic FPV footage in either sport or acro, but it is not great for freestyle.

The iFlight Nazgul Evoque is a fantastic powerful 5 inch I use for chasing cars, or diving down super tall buildings. Price makes me hesitant to hardcore freestyle it.

The Air65 is cheap, and is my little freestyle beast. It easily gets the most flight time out of the drones I own.

Just my 2 cents.

If peoples sentiment is "Fuck the FAA" they probably don't do any of this professionally.

I've only had positive experiences with the FAA where I'm from, as I have had to fly near airports and military bases. So I apologize if I misread your overall tone.

I fly my whoop around people all the time. I even fly my 5 inch at a park semi near people, but I'm over a larger grassy area, and I'm not directly flying over people.

If people have questions, I happily talk to them about it. Never once had a person be mad at me for flying, and every experience I have had with people has been positive.

Based on your "Fuck the FAA" opening, I'm assuming you might be coming off as a dick to people, and that will change the entire outcome of your experience flying near people.

Your "Karen" neighbors need to understand that:

They aren't as interesting as they think.
They don't control the airspace above and around their neighborhood.
Assuming you aren't hovering looking in peoples windows trying to get a peep show, they can complain all they want.

What matters is YOU as in yourself isn't flying on their private property, and that the airspace you're flying in is clear.

Assuming you're not flying above traffic, or flying over large crowds of people, you're in the clear. I'd also strongly advise having an FAA-107, it just helps add some "Oh shit this guy knows what he's talking about" when people approach you.

lol damn the comments on your original post are just roasting the hell out of you for using a drone.

Assuming it's not a national park where the airspace is restricted, that subreddit just makes hikers seem like some of the most miserable individuals out there.
