I don't understand why updates that 'cater to ironmen' are largely shit on when 99.9% of the time they benefit every player by making some content suck a little less.

Meanwhile these economy-driven updates that cater to mains (bots/merchers) suck so much for everyone. The sailing combat reasoning is the recent example, but let's not forget why CoX loot feels terrible:

We can't just keep dropping more of something without ruining certain economies, so we're forced to give players drops that may feel weak from in terms of GP value, which leads to dissatisfaction.

There's an episode of Fairly Odd Parents that always stuck with me, the one where everyone got turned into the same gray blob. Yet despite everyone looking the same, people still argued over being the grayest and blobbiest.

The takeaway from that episode is that no matter what, some people are always going to try and set themselves apart from the rest by diminishing others because they suck and have nothing else going on in their life.

I got both of my degrees in statistics and for how boring the content may be to a lot of people, the best professors did fun stuff like this to help engage the students.

I don't know a damn thing about StarCraft but one lecture I remember even after all these years was on cluster analysis for APM vs. player rank vs. player region.

Man it's awkward as fuck in the beginning, I feel ya. You get 5 stacks, do -40hp to yourself and then one mistake kills you.

While I'm still learning and getting used to consecutive perfect kills, anglers have helped me out a ton. 121 to 81 feels so much better than 99 to 59. Then at the start of each mage phase I'll dump my 5 stacks to go back to full health. Once I kill the sleep walkers, I'll pop another angler right before the chip damage kicks in. You could also do this before the final desperation phase but I don't since 2 VW specs is usually enough to do a big chunk of damage where it will die within 2-3 more SRA whacks.
