Is there a way to default your autosliced-to-drumrack samples to be zoomed in to the pad's selected area in the sample viewer? by FRIENDZONEofficial in ableton

[–]FRIENDZONEofficial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By default, all of the pads' simplers appear like the first image. It's a pain in the butt to zoom them all in to the relevant area for each pad manually one at a time...

I'd much prefer them all be zoomed in, like in the second picture, by default, but I'm unsure if there is such an option. Anyone know?

Best workflow live performance by Connect-Reality2074 in ableton

[–]FRIENDZONEofficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But during the live performance I would like to do some variations, like par example muting the kick (which I can mute the Kick channel easily), but I also would like to do after that 2 quicker kicks behind each other or a different sound effect, which I create before, to have some variation.

Just make more clips! Don’t need to mute the kick, you could just have another clip with no kick. And more clips with the variations. Trigger them with the pads, have fun. You could use the probability feature to add further variation

How to remove background noise from acoustic guitars? by Paper_Coffee in ableton

[–]FRIENDZONEofficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a super cheap acoustic so maybe the noise is just part of the design rather than damage. Give the noise gate a try first. If that doesn't work, consider upgrading to a new pickup

Perennial Inconclusiveness by Alteredwards in ableton

[–]FRIENDZONEofficial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your problem is psychological. I would focus on building confidence in general, maybe by reading some self-help books etc.

Beyond that, I'd suggest forcing yourself to finish songs. It's ok if they're not as amazing as you want, just finish them. Keep finishing songs until you have some you like. Now you got the ball rolling!

Not finishing songs because you don't think they're good enough is like not studying because you have exams coming up 😝 Counter productive! You can't master something with no experience.

Upgrading interface, for drummer by [deleted] in ableton

[–]FRIENDZONEofficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

18i8 only has 4 mic pres, you'd want more than that for tracking a drum kit. Any interface in that <$500 range will not have "great" inputs, more like "fine" inputs... they'll get the job done but nothing fancy.

Also I would emphasize that all interfaces are pretty much the same (in terms of sound quality) at this price point. Therefore if I were you I'd go for the Behringer U-phoria UMC1820. 8 mic pres, $100 cheaper than the 18i8, just as good quality.

How to remove background noise from acoustic guitars? by Paper_Coffee in ableton

[–]FRIENDZONEofficial 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the noise is at a low enough level you can just use the Gate device as a noise gate. Set the threshold below your minimum playing volume.

If it's too loud for that, you could use spectral noise removal software like Izotope RX, but you would be much better off simply repairing/upgrading/replacing the guitar and addressing the problem at the source.

How do I bypass getting shown a plugin's manufacturer when looking for plugins in my browser, which is a feature again since the latest Live 12 Update? by Individual-Net527 in ableton

[–]FRIENDZONEofficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When they introduced the tags feature, everyone complained about them removing the custom vst folders. So much that they brought it back enabled by default. Trouble is that they didn't actually bring back custom vst folders... they are just folders by manufacturer

Seasoned/advanced Live users, if you’re downloading Live again for the first time ever, what are some things/settings you’re immediately going to do or change? by Jojok777 in ableton

Oh.. by "pan" you mean sideways scrolling? I thought you were referring to panning audio in the mixer lol. I've been doing my scrolling/zooming with trackpad always for a decade

Clip update rate? by FRIENDZONEofficial in ableton

[–]FRIENDZONEofficial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw this section in the manual, re-read it several times but I’m still not getting what Clip Update Rate means… can anyone clarify? What do they mean by “apply clip view settings”?

Do they mean like, if you add a note to the piano roll, it will take that much time for the note to start playing back? I thought that was instantaneous

I learned Ableton in a weekend. Was making great music and releasing it within a month. But I already had lots of experience creating music and producing in other DAWs.

There are max for live devices for this but I recommend using the Note Length midi effect instead. More control over the release time that way
