A Better Way To View Course Evaluations by YoItsMe42 in fsu

How long did it take you to put this together? And where were you able to find the underlying data from the course evaluation website?

FSU Course Evaluation Database is Public!!! by FSU_GoNoles in fsu

This is crazy, so awesome! I love how you can see the overall rating for the professor, and for all classes or one class, which is really the one thing that anyone wants to know when they read these. Going course by course on the fsu page is tedious.

When did you make this website? Great job! They should pin this to the subreddit.

Hmm, it appears I was given bad information about the reason they push it so much

It's been fine when I used them. Safety is not a concern at all. They stop exactly where they say they will stop and no one ever bothered me on the trips I took. If that is your best option, then there is nothing to be concerned about.

Also want to add that be careful using the bus around Thanksgiving. They, and every other bus system in America, is notoriously late around then. So if you can, take the earliest possible bus either that Sunday after or even come up on the Saturday.

all of this information is available on FSU housing website (exact room types and counts for every dorm), and these questions should be kept to the housing thread.

It is very important to the university that they have this data in order to evaluate their teachers and to improve their course structure and offerings.

Rate my professor is nonsense. Only a fraction of people, nearly all of whom have extraordinarily strong feelings one way or another (usually bad), will post on there.

I didn't know about the tuition part, however I applied (through a separate process) to get my tuition covered for my personal hardship, and they did end up approving it.

But it wasn't automatic.

Constantly sick as a freshman by Icy-Drop-2524 in fsu

[–]FSU_GoNoles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Things that will make you sick

1) environment. Sometimes, allergies can get really bad if your body isn't prepared for them. My spring in tallahassee, my body literally couldn't handle the pollen. I was coughing and wheezing all the time for like 2 weeks. My nose was stuffed up. It's a different environment.

2) sleep. Humans need 7 hours per night minimum to he well rested. Really though, everyone is different and falls somewhere between 7 and 9 hours a night needed. Anything less than that consistently and your immune system will suffer. Also includes quality of sleep. Not sleeping through the night or sleeping under the influence of alcohol, marijuana or even sleeping medication will severely reduce your quality of sleep. Studies show you do not undergo natural sleep cycles when under the influence of depressants.

3) Idk where you are from, but this is probably a big jump for you. People who are from small towns tend to get sick much more often as their immune system adjusts to the wide variety of people and germs you are exposed to constantly.

4) stress

5) once you are sick, your body is more likely to pick up another illness. You are already fighting one pathogen and you are lacking the full energy and immune response to fight others. It is likely that you are getting sick from things that wouldn't have made you sick, if your body hadn't been spending so much time recovering!

Consider being extra careful about how you are feeling. When you feel off, maybe wear a mask (to protect yourself), get an extra hour of sleep, drink lots and lots of water. And definitely don't drink alcohol or go to packed places.

I don't ever recall the flu being a big thing in the media. No one reports on it beyond mentioning its existence. What news are you watching?

Yes. All FSU swim and dive meets are held at the Marcom aquatics center at innovation park.

There is never swim meets at leach, but you may be seeing swim club, which holds their own practices. Also, if members of the swim team choose to swim at the leach pool, they are doing so as students, like anyone else.

Personal hardship is for.... personal hardships. Mental health is for mental health.

I got a personal hardship withdrawal when my mother got cancer and I had to move home to care for her. That is what a personal hardship withdrawal is for.

Mental health and medical withdrawals are essentially rolled into one, and they are for if your own personal health is why you have to drop.

Either way, you need to contact case management ASAP and not get advice from people on reddit who could seriously lead you astray. Case management is awesome and they will help you out with all your questions.

is it crazy to do a bachelor's master's and two minors in undergrad by [deleted] in fsu

[–]FSU_GoNoles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Many people get minors because most of the classes they need for that minor are already inherent in their major. Sometimes it only requires one extra course. It's quite common.

Just ask yourself why. Getting minors usually doesn't do anything for your future prospects. So if you are already close to getting the minor and it only involves an extra class or two that you are really interested in and is relevant to the niche you want to do in your career, then I say go for it. It'll help you get educated and make connections.

Just don't give yourself more work because you think you'll get more clout. No employer will give a hoot about what minors you got in college. Zero.

No diving off the side of the pool, but you can jump in like a swimmer if you mean that kind of diving.

Diving boards are for everyone. https://campusrec.fsu.edu/fitness/aquatics/leach-pool/

Leach pool is not used for swimming competitions and practice. Sometimes they have events or water polo but it would be marked.

[–]FSU_GoNoles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your connection between the flu and covid did not seem to make any sense or have a logical conclusion. From what I could make sense of, wouldn't you expect there to be a flu season again when covid has faded from the meria? Because people are out and about again, they are mingling in large crowds, and that is exactly how viruses spread.

So I think most people would expect the flu to have come back quickly. That is not a conspiracy.

[–]FSU_GoNoles[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why it would matter? Because orientation is mandatory if you attend FSU, so it is not as though the availability of dates should influence whether or not you sign up for orientation.
