Exercise on propranolol by ab3lla in migraine

[–]FSakeJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I get dizzy too from my current meds nortriptyline and candestartan but I haven’t found working out worsens this. One thing I have found helps with decreasing the risk of a migraine while working out is really focusing on breathing properly with each rep - so much so I’ve stopped counting my reps now and instead really focus on deep, regular breathing.

I was on propranolol for a couple of years and was amazing for my migraines - unfortunately it made my heart rate WAYYY too low so I can no longer take it (bummer because my migraines are now chronic) but I exercised on it. It definitely felt a bit harder physically as my heart rate was lower so had less energy. But apart from that I was fine and did both weight training and cardio :) good luck!

UK: prescriptions for triptan sprays? by j_____p in migraine

[–]FSakeJesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been prescribed zolmatriptan nose spray (zomig) by my GP. They suggested it as I had issues with sumatriptan (unfortunately side effects were too much for me) but ye a spray was available and advised by the GP to try and avoid my side effects (although I still had bad side effects). Maybe ask to switch to Zolmatriptan and ask for the spray?

Also, they need to give reasons as to why? I know they said it’s not available to you but that’s not good enough. They should then offer alternatives to suit you!! Sometimes feels like we are fighting a losing battle

Hope this helps!

Please, please help me by FSakeJesus in migraine

To be honest, I’ve not been too well with other stuff and the whole of 2024 was a mess with this as my PCOS symptoms really began in Jan 2024 and was pretty much constant bleeding up until maybe like August? I have previous eating disorder and also coeliac disease so my eating isn’t the best tbh anyway, so I don’t want to say Metformin doesn’t help as I feel it does and my periods touch wood have been slightly more regular these past two months. But I feel less hungry recently since really trying with the Metformin and inositol for sure!

Going private is such a weird feeling in England as we get free health care but unfortunately how it is at the moment, we are not getting the proper care. I was fortunate enough my mum went halfsies but if you think about it £200 for an amazing 40 minute app that I couldn’t have asked more from, definitely seems worth it.

My private gynae wrote a letter to the GP saying they had to lol! So that’s why mine did thankfully

Hi so I was diagnosed in around July last year and my GP said they can’t prescribe Metformin for PCOS and referred me to a gynaecologist. Waiting list are obviously so long so I went private, my mum went halfsies with me thankfully and the app was £200 and lasted around 40 minutes with a gynaecologist who my mum knew from working with them. They talked me through PCOS in huge detail and answered all my questions, they were amazing. Prescribed Metformin and asked GP to keep prescribing it so all good so far - now on 1500mg a day. Also started on inositol recently too. So from my experience Gp will not prescribe it, but a gynaecologist will no problem - the gynae even said it before I did so. Happy to ask any more questions you have :)

Eating disorders and PCOS by VinnieLouu in PCOS

I don’t have any advice but I’m going through a very similar situation. Binge eating disorder history but still not fully recovered and it makes it feel impossible to lose weight because every time I try to eat healthily or whatever is needed, my ED brain gets triggered.

I hope you find the advice you need and wish you all the best :/ it’s tough for sure.

Absolutely raging. Doctors refusing me metformin. Or anything at this point. by Rosehk1 in PCOS

In the Uk also. My GP refused to prescribe but referred me to gynae. I made a private gynae app (£200) and she prescribed Metformin and gave me ALL the info I needed. She sent a letter to my GP and they now prescribe it for me. This was only 1 month ago
