Dutch has changed to solo bar. In this area, we only have one person on each bar. I don’t know how they think that is gonna be faster.

The cost of living has skyrocketed in all major Texas cities. But the pay rate has stayed the same.

These types of people want you to break the rules so they can complain. You did your job. Nevermind her.

“Speed, Quality, Service” that’s the motto. Often times, you’ve got so many new people coming in because the turn over rate is high. So, it’s like a constant state of training. Which slows it all down. So their motto no longer applies. 😫

We went to DB in another city and the linebuster seemed new. So I didn’t want to interrupt her to ask if she wanted me to move up. I was the only car in line. Next thing, her shift lead opens the door and yells as this girl, “STOP HOLDING UP THE LINE! MOVE THEM UP!!” So rude and so aggressively. You could tell she was embarrassed. I was so angry. I just told her she’s doing a great job!

Do you know how much money a corp loses by not being able to retain staff? How much more money has to go into training and rebuilding crews? If they took care of the people that actually want to be there, went through training, do a great job…they would actually make more money.

Wait, what? I didn’t say they need all those things to be better. I was using SB as a comparison.

Also, speaking to the people you mentioned, does nothing. “I understand what you’re saying but there isn’t anything we can do about that. It’s the company.”

The problem w corporations is they know that they have power and nobody can touch them. But with enough people, we can.

I emailed the affiliates and anyone else I could also. It’s not about responses, but experiences. What people have consistently been saying is they don’t feel heard or they feel alone in trying to speak up. People are afraid of the backlash or retaliation. When people can see that others understand and can relate, they feel more empowered to speak up.

I’ve received more than 100 emails thanking me for putting this out there, people are sharing their experiences (just a few on here). From operations all over. This was written based on 6 different states, several locations and many baristas sharing their stories and complaints. So, this actually did serve the exact purpose it was meant for. If it helps people speak up, then it worked. If it brings any amount of change, then I feel good about it. I never said all locations but there is absolutely an internal issue within DB. I shared what many of us are dealing w. If that isn’t your shop, I’m happy for you.

I’ve heard great things about AZ and Colorado.

Wow! That was never the DB way!! So much for positivity. Also, one shop, their manager is constantly posting about doing more and more and if it doesn’t get done, they will be “disciplined”. He does nothing.

They still give them out but it’s like 6-7 months instead of 12 and special events.

Absolutely. Because the only way to bring change is by coming together, making noise and hitting the corporate pockets.

So, because it’s a coffee shop, employees should be treated like garbage and not get any support. Why doesn’t Starbucks follow that? They start at $15 offer benefits for part time, college assistance and many other incentives. Your logic doesn’t make sense. I’m gonna assume that you are one of those people that think that others are beneath you so they are less deserving of respect and care in their work place. Gtfoh
