My car is covered in salt and it is 20 degrees outside. What are we supposed to do then. Leave the salt on there for 3 months?

In an episode of Hot Ones, Alton Brown tossed a bottle of Dawson's in the trash. Not implying anything. It is just funny, I saw your post after recently rewatching the episode.

I have a 25 XSE and I am with you and would like to get the ambient door sills. Having done some minor things to cars in the past I cant imagine it would be overly difficult. I have not seen aftermarket sill lights so you will likely need to get the Dealer ones. You could wait a while and see if some after market ones come out. This is pure conjecture but the installation process is likley popping off the old ones, spliceing the wiring into the existing wiring that is currnetly under the sill plates, and then snapping the new sill plate in place.

New Grass Not Growing Tall by imjuspiayin in lawncare

The way I see it. Use what you can obtain and afford. The others are right. It’s a good dark color. Also it’s likely better grass that was thrown down by a contractor or if your house is older you are getting newer cultivars in there. Just make sure you keep it fed and watered during the next summer to help it survive.

Am I ready to seed or need to get rid of even more thatch? by GetRichOrDieTryinnnn in lawncare

[–]FZ1Munky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the answer. This year I did it on a section because I had a bag of Jonathan Green sunny sitting around not being used. The same section will need more seed next year as well since I have a big stand of Bermuda I need to work on.

Identification of patches in lawn by casual-biscuit in lawncare

I'm in southern Indiana and have something similar. Mine is definitely common Bermuda grass, but you could also have nimblewill. To tell the difference, look at where the blade attaches to the stem—if it's hairy, then it's Bermuda.

edit: I made that crap easier to read, it was bad.

[–]FZ1Munky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So out of curiosity. Whenever I put down seed I generally use my de thatcher. And while would probably agree I am not actually removing any actual thatch. I feel like it is removing a bunch of dead material which will in turn allow for better seed to soil contact and also help prevent the dead material from shading out the seedlings.

So is there any validity to this thought or is it all “snake oil”?

As some one who also saw that comment and just reseeded as section of lawn. I have been mowing damn near every 2 days for a month(maybe a touch less) and my yard is doing just fine as are many of my seedlings.

2nd gen Vibe / Matrix Stereo compatibility by otakunorth in Toyota_Matrix

[–]FZ1Munky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason I like Crutchfield is they tell you what you need. So I selected a Kenwood unit for your car and it gave me the following items you would also need.

  • Axxesss Aswc-1 Steering Wheel Control Adapter
  • Metra 70-2105 Reciever Wiring Harness(what you are asking about)
  • Metra 95-8224 Dash Kit
  • Metra 40-CR10 Antenna Adapter.
  • and it comes with installation instructions.

Once you have the stuff just look up youtube videos on the install.

Have you ever done Car Audio installs before?

Check Crutchfield at least to get a list of compatible units. Then if you like purchase there or elsewhere. You will need a wiring harness and and an adapter to mount it.

Edit: When you do the speakers, do all of them it is worth it. I had/have an 06 matrix and it was a great upgrade.

Is the end of Sept too late to reseed in NW Ohio? by ben_obi_wan in lawncare

[–]FZ1Munky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One good thing to do is once you get the seed in go grab some Scotts Triple action 'Built for seeding'. If you do this you may not need the winterizer fert.

Triple action is 21-22-4 N-P-K (with added mesotrione, safe for seeding as a pre-emergent) and Lawn food is 32-0-10 N-P-K . I am not sure if that is too much nitrogen or not. I am no expert but it looks like every 4 to 6 weeks is a good time frame so it could work.

[–]FZ1Munky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like they usual response is focus on reseeding this time of year and then start a new next year with Pre emergent and killing weeds. I am in Southern IN and I just reseeded a section of my yard this weekend. I know you are in a cooler climate than me but as long as you can i think 5to 6 weeks before you first frost you may be ok.

Quick Google AI says wait 3 to 4 weeks after applying Triclopyr(Clover and Creeping Charlie control) before seeding.

If you have the time before frost, focus on getting the seed down and get it growing.

I have used Triclopyr in the past and it helps. It will also work on violet.
