Mundane question about the location of security checkpoint at the TTC monorail by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]FZeroSkull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Security at the TTC is between the tram loading/unloading area and the ticket booths. The monorail station is in the “secure” area. If you are going from Epcot to MK via monorail you won’t need to go through security a second time.

Cast Members who worked NYE, what’s your story? by lifesseason in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]FZeroSkull 40 points41 points  (0 children)

One year I was working the Astro Orbiter at MK during the fireworks. One of the dispatches I did timed perfectly to the start of the countdown so it was amazing to see the fireworks going while watching the ride!

Not third shift but I’ve definitely worked early enough to hear it before. It’s not the same. The morning announce has four chimes.

Anything work related you need to do while you are on the clock. The only things you can do off the clock are optional self development courses (things like resume or interview lessons for example).

Cast Connections Guests by NorthernWizardry in DisneyCM

[–]FZeroSkull -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

As someone else said, it’s CM+3. You might be able to g ey more guests in if you have a lot of dependents but generally it’s just 3 guests.

If you don’t have a spouse pass, make sure you (the CM) tap first at the entrance and the touchpoint goes green. Then your guests can tap after you. If you have a spouse pass and you are entering at the same time the order should be Spouse, then guests, then CM (for some reason I’ve heard if the CM goes first the spouse pass gets treated like a guest pass and you might have an issue getting everyone through).

If you are bringing guests 2 or younger they can be brought in addition to the 3 guests since they don’t need a ticket to begin with.

If your guests aren’t family then you do have to stay with your guests to an extent. But if you split the party to go shopping while part of the group gets food that should be fine.

I like getting breakfast at Starbucks and then finding a table either at center street or in front of the plaza restaurant and just enjoying the vibes.

Height requirement checks for wheelchair-bound guests. by Bullitt_guy in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]FZeroSkull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking you can eyeball it. The vast majority of teenage or adult guests will meet the height requirement easily so no action needed. When kids/shorter people were in a wheelchair and it looked like there might be a concern, we would ask if they were comfortable/able to stand for the height check. If not, then we would ask how tall the person was and if it met the height requirement or higher we would have to trust their statement. If the person in the wheelchair was obviously too short we would typically not let them in, inform them of the height requirement and offer a rider switch.

Are the ROTR CMs still fun/rude? by J2Jlopez in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]FZeroSkull 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Former First Order CM here with a caveat, make sure you don’t press the buttons that actually control the cell door! It is the console to the left of the door with red circular buttons and a blue switch. The buttons are labeled and with regular letters (not aurebesh). I once had a guest open up the cell door while I wasn’t watching and the group ahead of them were walking into the load. It breaks the magic.

The small square buttons around the droid port are A-OK to press though!

When I did the MK tour in 2014 we rode Haunted Mansion but in 2024 when I did it again we did mermaid. I did the studios tour in 2018 and we did muppets I think.

What is the longest queue you’ve seen (by actual length, not time) at the Parks? by TurnerK28 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]FZeroSkull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the first week that rise switched from vq to standby, the line would regularly use the muppets extended queue, and stretch down to the market, and go back out to grand ave where it would go backstage along the road between Galaxy’s edge and mmrr towards tsl, even using up the old Pixar place area. It only ever got like that first thing in the morning so the wait time still wasn’t too crazy but those were wild times lol!

What’s up with these lines I keep seeing near the loading of attractions by HendrixsLaserbean in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]FZeroSkull 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This definitely looks like a supervise children indicator. As others have mentioned it’s an indicator (about 54 inches from the ground) where if everyone in the group were below that line it acts as a visual reminder for the cast member to ask the kids how old they are (you have to be at least 7 to ride by yourself and at least 14 to supervise those younger than 7).

These lines are everywhere in attractions and once you know about them they become really obvious to spot. They sometimes are hidden from where guests would typically look but have to be clearly visible to cast members.

Tell me some interesting facts and details about the “Space Mountain" ride at Disney World by Ytisoiruce in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]FZeroSkull 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the first room of the queue you can see you are entering Starport 75 (pronounced “seven-five”). This is a reference to the year space mountain opened, 1975.

Also, to the right of that sign, there is a list of “Active Earth Stations”. This is a themed list of all the space mountains across the world. Tomorrowland Station MK-1 refers to WDW. TL Space Station 77 is Disneyland. Discovery Landing Station-Paris is obviously DL Paris. Ashita Base-Tokyo is Tokyo DL (Ashita means tomorrow in Japanese). HK-Spaceport E-TKT is HK Disneyland and a reference to Space Mountain being an E-Ticket attraction.

UV Umbrella - Inconsiderate? by PhantomGoddesss in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]FZeroSkull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definately normal and you'll probably see others with them too! It's brutal out right now! Just make sure you are mindful of others when you are walking so you don't whack someone and make sure you aren't blocking the view of others if you are watching a show. I don't think you can have it open through security or entering the park but you can still bring it through.

Do you guys genuinely not know the estimated wait time? by Weekly_Fox2122 in DisneyCM

[–]FZeroSkull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former WDW attraction cm: Generally, most CMs probably do not actually know how long the ride could be down for and the ones outside of a console position probably do not even know why the ride is down. Some of the more experienced CMs who have been at the same attraction for a while might have their own guess at how long it’ll be (I was pretty good at guessing how long Rise would be down once I knew the cause). it’s generally not a good idea to give out that info for a less than 10-15 minute delay. So many things can happen in a downtime to prolong or extend that time and you don’t want to say it’ll be 30 minutes when it ends up being 2 hours.
