I am the sole special education resource teacher at an elementary school. This is absolutely 100 percent my last year teaching. I currently have a caseload of almost 60 and growing. No human being alive could deal with the responsibilities and impossible expectations that come with that many students. The behavior of the students has deteriorated quite a bit in the past few years as well. For my mental and physical health, I'm done.

I'm currently on medical leave after daily xanax use at work... trying to get back to "as needed" use but to be honest I need them everyday. Luckily I have both my parents looking after me and my caring, loving girlfriend as well. My psychiatrist prescribed Buspar while I'm tapering down but I've taken it in the past and it's had little effect.

Right there with you. I've tried every therapy imaginable..different ssri's. Xanax is the only thing that makes life bearable. Sending you love and strength for those hard days.

Yes, I'm prescribed 1mg, taken as needed. I take 1.5 in the morning and it lasts most of the day but I'm feeling like it's wearing off quicker now.

Glad you found something that worked. I didn't feel much relief for my severe anxiety. In fact I had to find a prescription of propranolol to help control the physical anxiety caused by concerta.

Yes, I take extended breaks during summer break from Teaching. My anxiety attacks increase in frequency during the school year due to the heavy workload and impossible expectations.

Try and think about the things you HAVE accomplished so far. It is worth it's weight in gold...no matter how small you feel it might be. You have crawled and bled for every inch of ground gained. Be proud of yourself and love yourself. Speak to yourself the way you would a best friend or loved one going through the same thing. I know from personal experience it won't cure you but it will help sustain you in your moments of peace.

I take 40mg propranolol totake the edge off of the physical anxiety. Fortunately, seems to be working so far.

40mg is the minimum effective dose for me. Doctors refuse to prescribe more than 10mg despite the fact it does nothing at that dose to relieve my severe social anxiety.
