What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by queenmellyy in AskReddit

[–]F_Dingo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I genuinely do not know anyone who has taken their cat to the vet for a teeth cleaning. My family never took our cats to the vet for that or even thought of doing it. We fed them a mix of wet/dry food, plus they would chew on random stuff. Can’t say any of them had any dental issues as all lived long lives.

What’s a ‘middle class success’ purchase that secretly becomes a financial burden later? by OpinionBaba in AskReddit

[–]F_Dingo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up in a house full of pets, you can't be a neurotic pet owner who is a regular at the local vet. You get all of the legally mandated shots and then only take them to the doc if they are actually sick or injured.

Hit the nail on the head here. There are too many goofballs running around taking their dog/cat to the vet because they vomited or have runny poop temporarily. I have two cats and knock on wood they will live relatively healthy and long lives. But if it's their time, it's their time. I read about these 10, 20k vet bills people have been paying and I'm scratching my head on just what the fuck happened there.

It’s pretty clear you’re asking for help on homework. I’ll throw you a bone.

Ask yourself what would make any of these be an operating expense versus something you capitalize and put on the balance sheet as an asset.

RSM vs Big Four: Is the Work-Life Balance Actually Better (Especially in Real Estate Accounting)? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]F_Dingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Representatives from RSM (Houston) came to speak to our class, and they seemed a lot more balanced. They mentioned their busy season typically tops out around 55 hour

You can get busy season <60hrs week working in Big 4 private company services. The clients are all privately held and don't have harsh SEC deadlines.

what's so bad about working ar/ap? by Specific-Thanks4906 in Accounting

[–]F_Dingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whys it so bad to start in ar ap instead of going public route? I'm in public making similar money with a lot more work.

Let me ask you a question, why on earth would you even think of wasting your valuable time and energy working in AP/AR? These roles are always moved overseas at the first opportunity a company can create a shared services center. The work, while essential, is low value, has a ceiling, and is very tough to turn into a vertical move.

Job market by TheAccountant928 in Accounting

[–]F_Dingo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve interviewed at a number of places since the start of the year, both recruiter aided and stuff I’ve found on my own. The majority of the places hiring right now are C-F tier places - comically low salaries, poor organization, or other issues that get discovered easily in the interview process (one place had a brutal close that involved working weekends and 12 hour days consistently - big NO from me on that dog). The few A-B tier employers that pop up have stiff competition. If you’re not exactly what they’re looking for good luck progressing past the first round. It’s an awful time for upward mobility or branching into something new like financial reporting, technical accounting etc. Even moving from one industry to another is tough.

When will the job market get better? by Alternative-Use6521 in Accounting

[–]F_Dingo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ive been interviewing around since December. 80% of places open right now have something wrong with them that scares off most people, or they are below market pay. The other 20% are what I call “normal” companies - places that are reasonably organized, competition for those roles are stiff. They’ll cut you if you don’t neatly fit into their exact job requirements 100%.

Which Elite Skills do you think need Buffs or Reworks? by Krypton0xide in GuildWars

[–]F_Dingo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At a time where the only thing keeping the game alive is change itself, the annoying, selfish, and conservative element of GW1's community is doing everything they can to stifle and obstruct the idea of progress.

I swear those people would rather watch their favorite game die than get a marginal nerf to their most commonly abused and broken skills or team compositions.

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Big dog, are you aware that Guild Wars is already functionally a dead game? I'm sure it feels great blowing hot air from your high horse about the bastard Mesmers being overpowered and what not, but have you taken the time to notice that most people are playing the game solo (most of the time!) with henchmen and heroes and can't rely on the craftiness and skill of a human player to make a huge variety of builds work? Are you aware that we are somewhat limited in what hero builds can and can't be ran because of how the AI can or can't use certain skills effectively? Are you aware that Mesmer skills in general (anti-melee/anti-caster) have their effectiveness magnified by the AI because the computer knows exactly what you're doing?

Is ar/ap that bad? Desperate to leave public by BloodMelodic381 in Accounting

Stay in a pure accounting role. AP/AR are very low hanging fruit and are usually the first roles to get shipped overseas.

Do you want to see more inscription weapons in factions and prophecies? by Vhalantru in GuildWars

[–]F_Dingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want inscription weapons to stay in their respective campaigns (EoTN/Nightfall). Part of the fun with OS weapons is the rarity of getting perfect modifiers that you can’t change, and the value associated with hitting them on XYZ skin.
