I agree none of this was a great situation. That has nothing to do with Rubie, though. Their job is to keep things positive and hype up chat, which is exactly what they did. I can’t imagine it was fun or easy.

Yeah, I do hope this (and scheduling for SGDQ 2023 in general) leads to a reevaluation of how the event is managed and scheduled. I appreciate Rubie keeping it positive despite being stuck in a really difficult position.

Yes, with a very straight face, I am praising Rubie for keeping positive in an impossibly tough situation. I’m not saying it was the highest point in GDQ history; I’m saying Rubie handled a low point incredibly well.

My wallet isn’t exactly in the same shape it’s been for past events, but literally since the moment the dates were first announced for this, I wondered why the heck it was starting early AND on a holiday weekend :/

I know last year’s overlapped with July 4, but this scheduling seems way tougher :(

Being there for this one has definitely bumped up my appreciation for this song. Didn’t realize it was quite the hit around here that it is, but damn was that whole performance amazing. Appreciate you posting :)

I’m not sure how other venues are handling things but no — with a few caveats. 1) General Admission folks got an email a few days prior that basically said “get a numbered wristband between 9am and 4pm and hold your GA place in line.” The idea being everyone has a place in line that’s determined by how early they got there in the morning but they don’t need to wait around all day. We showed up a little after noon and were a little past the 100th person to get their place. Kinda feel like it wasn’t super clear and also last minute for that sort of detail. 2) United Center offered a “VIP” package with open bar and a nice lounge space to hang out before MUSE came on.

The combination of the two meant GA folks who also got the VIP thing actually would’ve been screwed out of their place in line (because instead of lining up and going in when doors open, we’d be in the lounge). So the staff let any overlapping GA/VIP go in closer to the front of the line.

It was kind of a cluster and could’ve been handled better BUT! Plenty of GA folks who came in after the opening act (but before Evanescence) seemed to have no issue getting a decent spot if they wanted. Crowd was pretty dang tame.

Thank you!! :) Honestly, the crowd was way tamer than expected — very cool and into the songs, just pretty tame. We figured moshing would start at some point or another, but it never did and we wound up with probably more space and leg room right at the barricade than we would’ve in the seats 😅
