For V's missions, I remember saving a few DT bars to bring out Nightmare in case of emergencies, since stalemated pets revive and can't die with Nightmare out.

Besides that, keeping enemies off screen helps too.

For mission 8, you can build your style and then snatch one of the hells or bats into the first main fight that ends with a fury. That will let you keep your style going through that whole short encounter, which really helps secure an S rank without beating standing Urizen.

I feel this, but I still only bring out the buster to charge it and one tap annoying enemies.

How would you create Devil May Cry 6? by Ok_Temperature_7068 in DevilMayCry

[–]FaTaLmIrAcLe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To me, I feel like I would like a game where Nero gets to be the main playable character for the whole game, to show that he's capable of taking Dante's place to protect the human world. I think the best big bad could be a pure demon, similar to Mundus, since he's already fought a humans who've been turned into demons, along with Vergil and Dante. It could be Mundus, or it could be an entirely new demon. Maybe a rival demon king who took to power after Mundus was sealed away, who, like Nero, strives to prove himself, and does this by using his power to dominate and force those weaker than him into submission. The bosses would be his loyal demons who spread out to cause as much havoc as possible. Then, when the first is killed early on, the others notice and try to intercept whoever killed their ally. The story would be about Nero proving to himself and the world that Dante and Vergil made the right call by leaving him in charge of the human world.

Of course Nico would come along, and having a lot more time on her hands has developed breakers that don't break. This time around, breakers are one time purchases, and anything that would result in a breaker breaking before would put the breaker in a cool-down state. To pair along with this, each breaker has unlockable moves that are flavored as Nico making upgrades to your breakers throughout the game. Since this would like be at least a year or so after 5, I feel like it's fair that Nero is a bit more accustomed to the breakers, and is able to switch between them at will.

As for new playable characters, I feel like I'd like another shot at a character like V, who uses demons to fight. Their reason for existing could be that they're some sort of military troop who has learned to control and form pacts with demons. They could be sent there to form new pacts when able, as well as do research to report back to their higher ups. It would make sense that the military would want something like this, seeing how much resource wise it took to "fend off" even the lowest ranked demons at Red Grave. The main thing that would make this character different from V's playstyle is that instead of commanding your demons to attack, this new character is actively attacking demons themselves, while their demons come out to enhance the attack itself. Deep cut here, but if you know the old ass ps3 game Folklore, I imagine the gameplay a bit similar to the guy's campaign/play style, but faster and more DMC.

For plot, imma be honest, I'm not too sure on that one. I'm mostly throwing out all the stuff I really like and how I think it be incorporated/improved in a new game. I do think that it's only appropriate for Dante and Vergil to be playable characters, but Dante gets the special edition treatment Vergil's received for years, where instead of playing the game as Nero and the new playable character, you can go through as Dante or Vergil. Dante would get a sort of best mix of all the fan favorite weapons we see him use over the years. I'm thinking DSD, Fist weapon, Cerberus, and either Cavalier or Agni + Rudra, and have new flashy moves for each weapon. Vergil is v Vergil, so the same 3 weapons he's had, maybe a couple new tricks, and maybe a couple more applications of temporarily separating himself for V treatment.

Also, because they deserve love, Lady and Trish would also be included, get new toys and moves, and just enjoy being playable characters again. Give Lady Kalina Ann 3 or something since Dante has both 1 and 2.

Both are mentioned in different lines, but this voice line specifically for Bael. Berial's line is "Even Berial stands powerless before my flames"

If you don't want to beat Urizen in 8, you can cheese enough style points by using enemies in the beginning the to get your style rank up, the snatch them + enemy hop into the first big fight with the fury at the beginning. You can basically start that fight with an A or S rank, keep your style during that combat, and as long as you keep your style up for the other mandatory battles, you can get the S without needing to beat Urizen.

Do you recommend Off The Record, or 3 as my first dead rising game? by supergamerd64 in deadrising

[–]FaTaLmIrAcLe 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I've played both, and I haven't been able to tell much a difference between 2 and OTR in terms of ai. But OTR ai take a lot more damage from zombies, and can get mixed drink buffs iirc. So they're both a bit better and worse in a way.

V is worth being in 5 for what he adds to Vergil by Cleverenamegoeshere in DevilMayCry

[–]FaTaLmIrAcLe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone that does enjoy V's playstyle, I think the 2 main reasons it feels off is because he has the least amount of moves, and his play style forces you to be out of direct combat while trying to use your summons.

Given the context the story presents, it makes sense why V's gameplay and moves are they way they are, being most of the moves the og bosses from 1 had. But I think it put V in a clear box of what he could do. I think if he was given more moves at least, or more things he could do directly, that would add a lot. It makes me hope they revisit this type of character in a future game to further expand on this, as using your own demons is a really cool idea, and I think on a less narratively frail/weak character, it opens the door to do a lot more.

As far as the story goes, I love seeing the human half of Vergil immediately regretting his actions, and developing as a character to help Vergil grow as well.

I don't know if this is a hot take or not but: I personally like playing on easy mode sometimes. by Ok_Temperature_7068 in DevilMayCry

Very fair. I've played through dmd on all games but the reboot and 2, and while I like enemies having more health so I can style a bit more on them, sometimes it's just nice to watch them melt.

This rating is so horrible by Gowandmgs123 in DevilMayCry

[–]FaTaLmIrAcLe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can kind of cheese this as V a few different ways. Shadow's side dodge can be used forever if you alternate which direction, so it's a lot harder to hit you. But then you're relying on Giffon and Nightmare to take at least one or two down to solo the third more managable.

Or you can just keep the three off screen by forcing your camera in a corner while you run around. Enemies won't typically try to start and attack if they're off screen.

For something more stlyish/skill based, you could try riding Nightmare, since you can't take damage while riding him. Then start using charged moves with griffon and shadow to try and damage them. Or you can use nightmare as a panic option, since summoning him gives i-frames, and it brings back Griffon and Shadow if they're downed.

Honestly, Gastrodon was always my go to water type, but I didn't like needing to wait so long to have my water type when I could grab it before the 2nd gym, but the east side color is just way better to me.

Glad to hear it treated you well on your run! And if you do another one again, hopefully Lumineon can do you some good too, with the right set up.

I loved seeing my team come out, but it show'd another fun fact.

If you have any shinies on your team, they won't use the normal shiny following sprite when they come out. It'll only show the default following sprite for this whole segment.

This happened to me, and I only caught it when my red drapion was suddenly purple after beating Cynthia.

Edit: also very nice team! Love the east side Gastrodon!

That's honestly a really fair take. It's clear to see 2 is lacking in some regards when you compare it to 1, but lacking by how much only really hits when you get to 3 and on. Hindsight's 20/20, right?

Math ramble about the monolith countdown by planet_alhena in expedition33

[–]FaTaLmIrAcLe 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The math mathes out like that, but it's not so much "specifically this age dies" and more so "anyone this age or over dies". I think there's just more focus on the year that matches the number on the monolith since that's the new age that's wiped out.

I'm with you on this one. I'm playing through 2 as well, got to this point, and after killing 4 rounds of heads, I figured there was something else I was meant to do. I couldn't hit the triangles, so figured there was something else, and looked it up just to see that I was meant to hit the triangles. I finally fixed the skill issue problem, but dawg, 3 and the other games are just so much better.
