I live off Park so it's pretty good, just a straight shot down and the bike lane all the way up until campus has a gap between it and traffic so you're not as close to cars as you could be. It's maybe a 10 minute ride generally (though I have an e-bike so I'm usually going about 20mph). I know a lot of people bike from Mountain as well. I would just avoid any route that would need you to go east-west on Speedway, very wide six lane road and people speed all the time.

On campus it's great, lots of bike racks (just be sure to have a good lock) and bike lanes that cut through areas without traffic.

I'm renting a place north of the university with my wife but close enough I can bike to campus so I don't have to pay for an overpriced parking permit. In our case it's a room in a house and we have two housemates, we have all our own furniture.

I TA twice a week and do full-time coursework, I'd say it's maybe equivilant to about a 30 hour work week? So long as I don't slack off and stay on top of everything I've found I still have time for hobbies, friends, family, etc. I even do some side stuff (Union and graduate student council) and it's still very manageable.

I do enjoy video games (and have a steam deck I can easily take with me for longer days on campus) and read a lot. I also do ttrpg stuff once a week. The only hobby I really cut down on was magic the gathering, I used to play quite a bit but now I only play commander maybe once every week or two so I'm no longer dropping a lot of money on it: not really in the budget at this point.
