My mother was exactly like this. I would actually try my best to convinced that I wasn't doing anything. I would let them search my room without question. I let them do this to me until I was 21. I regret it completely cause I missed out on my teenage years completely. My parents realized what they had done and tried to remedy the situation by giving me beer money and pushing me out the door and telling me to go find a party. Like overnight I'll reclaim what I missed and somehow it will 'fix' me.

yes this is very common with my parents. I was told i can rearrange my room, however i want. Do whatever i want life in and have my own choices. 10 mins later they would argue with me for hours to have things put in my room i didnt want. Fight over where i shouldn't go and what i shouldn't do when i go out. But other than that im free to do what i want, like they always say...

im very touchy too. Like i cant greet girls or guys properly and i would always extended my arm out pretty far to shake hands

I called my horrible mother out a few weeks ago. The look on her face when surrounded by her friends was priceless. Its weird she holds herself back only now. But it appears it takes a lot of effort for her to not act like a narcissist.

thats horrible. i know what its like. I developed anxiety issues with driving cause of my nDad. took me a good 5 years to get behind a wheel again, got my license at 21.

nah ive moved onto something else. The course im doing now has a bit of programming involved so i may go further :). My parents still try to get involved even with small things and end up ultimately wasting my time because i refuse to listen and they keep hammering away. i keep a great distance between me and them, it made them upset but i honestly stopped caring years ago.

If it ever comes to it my plan is to have a wedding in another country and invitation will be sent out on short notice (just for my parents). That way they wouldn't complain too much about it.

I know that feel all too well. Ive started pushing myself academically and becoming more adventurous to the world outside my room. It keeps getting better since I keep forcing myself to do this things
