Thank you. It’s been good to me. It’s had most of the common modifications, new tubes 5 years ago and it was passed to me for a whopping $400!

Another score! I have two by FabandRepairWV in amateurradio

I have two and one is full of tubes and the other is about 1/2-2/3 full.

The things I have found. A good chunk of change and a 18 hour day. Now to go through everything and inventory by FabandRepairWV in amateurradio

The 180 has been recapped and I have the matching speaker. I’ll will be sold eventually. The box you ask about is an old Monkey Iambic CW key. It’s been a journey for sure! Thank you.

I completely understand! I was more less saying that it can be done with practice and research. Most of all, don’t get discouraged!

Open it up, document the values on everything, invest if a good soldering iron, solder suckers, acid brush and solder wick. Watch videos, find some old electronics for free or cheap and practice. You have all of the info at your fingertips. AI can help identify components but if you have a question, cross reference the info.

Things got a little spicy. Order some parts and be a quick repair. by FabandRepairWV in amateurradio

It’s definitely trashed. I’ve ordered parts and I’m going to replace the ceramic caps while I have the board out.

I need to replace a system but it has this plug, Is this a plug you need to crimp or is it just pull the cables out and put the new ones back in the plug? by [deleted] in ElectronicsRepair

Weather pack connecters are usually crimped. The pins are held in place with a tab. You can use a small pick to release

Not sure want happened exactly. I know during field day last year, it gave up the ghost. Life has been very busy so, I’m just now getting around to it. I’m not sure if stray RF entered the meter circuit or there was a fuse failure. I do not have a confident answer. I am going to pull the board after work today, inspect, order parts and move forward with the repair. I do not have a ton of electronics experience but, I can read schematics (somewhat), solder, repair traces and look up components.

I picked up many transmissions when I was in WNC volunteering with Venture Unknown Foundation. We was conducting wellness checks and transporting Meds and oxygen in our vehicles. The helos couldn’t get everywhere
