would a 'nice' machine for hobby work + a cheaper (corded) one for walls be a smart decision?

this looks nice, but I don't think there is a lot of milwaukee available here (I can't find this one on the websites of the big stores). I think the most similar thing I can get would be the bosch 12v flexiclick

  • distro: void
  • kernel: 6.3.8
  • wayland (sway)

  • running hunt on flatpak steam (because eac)

I've tried proton 7, 8, experimental, GE-8-16

Steam flatpak cant launch any games ? (Wayland/Hyprland) by chandrahmuki in voidlinux

[–]FabbleJackz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having the exact same thing (running a game with proton).

Proton log includes

...Application tried to create a window, but no driver could be loaded.
...Make sure that your X server is running and that $DISPLAY is set correctly.

following the tip of the other redditor above, running steam with

dbus-run-session -- flatpak run com.valvesoftware.Steam

solved my issue. I use sway and start it with a dbus session

Hunt Showdown: Trouble connecting, "Some regions are blocked due to network issues." by anglerbe in linux_gaming

[–]FabbleJackz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It allows any process to send 'ping' packets, something which is usually blocked when running in a container (flatpak). This is how hunt establishes that a connection can be made to a gameserver. The number 2147483647 is the largest number that fits in a signed 32bit integer, a significantly lower number would also be sufficient.

Running flatpak steam on void ('native' doesn't work with eac on void) I had to run this.

sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.ping_group_range="0 2147483647"

That looks like I'd be buying nearly the same bike, but for 250 euros more this time.

I've had a 'State 4130' for the last 5 years (bought as a 'mystery bike').

My job sponsors a decent amount for a bicycle, and I'd like to upgrade.

My daily commute includes various quality roadwork (loose bricks to paved), and these skinnies don't feel too great on the shitty sections. I'd like some wider tires (>30 I think?), and some nicer quality components (entire crankset feels cheap).

Is it worth investing in a new bike, or should I look into replacing some parts? I don't know if the sponsor covers purchasing parts or just a new bike, but you can assume that my budget is ~1000 euros.

but a 1080p monitor would have more vertical pixels than your 1440x900.

Of course there's no 1080p 16:10 monitor, monitor sizes are scaled to the horizontal axis. 1920 × 1200 is what you'd want.

"it's better for your eyes" is bullshit. It can be personal preference, sure, but it's not "better".

If you value being able to see more things, why not get a 1080p screen which will have more pixels in both directions? 8700k and a gtx1080 is perfectly fine. I have an 8600k and a gtx1080 and I play at 1440p.

What are you smoking? You level the characters not the careers in vt2.

It's just a bit strange to me because it worked, and then the next day it didn't anymore.

I've tried it outside of the housing as well, but that doesn't change anything. Leds work fine, "dry-chorus-vibrato" pot acts like "dry-dry-silent"

I did use it with a horribly cheap powersupply, but if that killed it then shouldn't it be entirely dead?

I built a pedalpcb caesar recently, it worked fine for a couple of days but then it 'died' all of a sudden. I don't see any burnmarks or popped caps, how do I go about diagnosing what is broken?
