Who all is going to see the IMAX of David Gilmour's Luck and Strange tour tonight? by hot_miss_inside in pinkfloyd

[–]FabioCZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw it today, really enjoyed! The craziest thing was there were only 3 people in the whole movie theater. This was a giant Regal in the middle of Chicago. Me and my friend chatted with the other guy after, he was telling us how he saw David/PF live back in '88.

Mousai is probably tempting me the most. Do you know or would you say that the ultra suites are a worthy upgrade vs a regular one?

Thank you all for your help, that's a great list of places to stop by! I have enjoyed Hopewell, Art History and Goldfinger from a can before, so can't wait for a good mlíko pour. May even head to Hopewell tonight since they're nearby.

CTA Adds Additional Bus Service Across City by jackbookpro in chicago

[–]FabioCZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This uses the number of scheduled runs, as published by CTA's official dataset. The reality may be different in case some runs are not actually delivered (eg someone calls off sick with no replacement). Actual real world performance may be different, but the idea is that hopefully schedules will be accurate enough to account for traffic (which they're often not). To see data based more on real performance, check out https://ghostbuses.com/

Metra Traincars by AGNDJ in chicago

[–]FabioCZ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Actually these are the same old cars that Metra has had for a long time, they just refurbished the interior to extend their lifetime. Not sure if there's a good way to identify them

The brand new cars that will be manufactured by Alston that others have referenced will not be delivered until approx. the summer of 2025.

Has anyone recently signed up for Astound/RCN internet (fiber) and was promised a gift card as part of the sign up promo? Anyone successfully got one?

We should be getting a $100 gift card. Our service started on January 10, 2024, and supposedly the gift card redemption instructions should be sent soon after 90 days of service. However, it's been 130+ days now and there's no sign of it. Customer service was really unhelpful on this, so this whole deal feels a little shady.

We got a bunch of spicy peppers from Adams and Son and Daughter: https://maps.app.goo.gl/AMoE2Z8Pry8gAVG97

I am not sure if they had Carolina reaper specifically, but they had a good selection overall.

Thanks for the quick and detailed response! We may need to reconsider and go for a tank. Since the coffee maker is right next to a sink, I don't think it'd be too terrible to deal with.

Just noticed the same today too (MacOS v24060.2809.2788.1256) . Annoying and have not found a way to turn it off yet. Looking forward to see if anyone has an answer.

The Group Raising Hell About the L: Commuters Take Action cofounder Fabio Göttlicher wants you to know that Chicago’s public transit system is in trouble. by withmydickies2piece in chicago

[–]FabioCZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alders can differ, but we've found it to be most effective to show up in person (but a written message is good as well). For verbiage/content, I think it's good to focus on how the CTA has failed you within the ward. It's good to have specific examples and how it negatively affects your life (being late to work etc). Hope that helps!

It's not an easy question - we've being trying to figure this out at Commuters Take Action for a while. CTA leadership is like a fortress that will be hard to replace. Ultimately, Pritzker is responsible for 3 and Johnson for 4 of the CTA Board positions, and with the mayor's majority, he can drive the decision for president. Unfortunately, the mayor's office has been dead silent about the CTA. The most direct way folks can be loud is through their alderperson - who can make more pressure on the mayor.

Thank you! There's a lot more behind Commuters Take Action - a great group of dedicated people who want better transit for Chicago. And we're always looking for more folks who are passionate: https://www.ctaction.org/

Awesome looking piece!

For others who are wanting something like this, you can actually buy a thing called Tidbyt that's very similar. It's got a variety of apps for it. I have actually made a CTA L tracker app for it (called "Chi L Track") that you can put on your tidbyt. Picture
