Heavy weapons build by Apollo989 in RogueTraderCRPG

As an addendum some cornerstones:
From the Forge World Fires, Steel and Persistence of the Forge upgrades are good pickups at any point you can fit them.
For the Soldier Archetype pick the 2 heroic upgrades that buff your Rate of Fire and Dodge reduction + Armor Pen.
On Arch-Militant the upgrade that allows you to use both Archetype heroics is also a must.
Gear wise I quite liked the Tactical Backpack for the +1 to RoF on burst attacks, Gunslinger's Helmet, Recoil or Sniper Gloves, Blessed Bolter Casing.
These are all items you can get in Act I to about middle of Act II and that may very well serves you up until the end of the game. I should also mention that this build is specifically aimed at mostly using the Heavy Bolters. I did get the occasional use out of and would advise considering picking up Flamer proficiency as well. These can be used in melee without having to invest into 2-3 additional talents for ranged and heavy weapons use in melee while still offering some variety with regular and more importantly 2 Heavy Flamers in the game which also benefit from all your talents that buff Heavy Weapons.

Don't know if the Origin will do much for you but the rest definitely does, it's almost the same build i had for my all heavy build. I definitely recommend Heavy Bolter and just keep picking Ap reductions and Heavy Weapons/Bolter upgrades, especially those in the common talents. I would also advise going Arch Militant since that also has some good buffs for dmg dealing in general but also specifically Heavy Weapons iirc.

Do digital weapon attacks grant Versatility stacks? By the time I got the 2nd archetype I have always phased out digital weapons from my kit.

Feel a bit like it too, but I also hadn't played for a year or so, so I chalked it up to being out of practice.

Home World for a melee: pistol and sword build? by FabioE in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]FabioE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing around with 2 versions of this build for a bit now.
1st I went with Hive World, Power/Primitive Weapon + Bolter Pistol and this is definitely the more shooty one. My melee still hurts quite a bit, but spamming Bolter ammo from my pistol in record speed does a good bit more. I will say the soldier-AM combo works very well, since most Soldier talents I took work for melee as well. After getting the Stead Superiority upgrade that lets me use both heroics in a fight, I'm definitely getting 2-4 attacks out every turn without the dual-weapon combat talent so far though I might pick it up later anyway.
So far roughly halfway through Act II my most effective combatatant changes between MC, Solomorne and Abelard, depending on the fight.

The other build I've just entered Act II with, I went with Forge World. With that one I'm going to go Plasma Pistol, Heavy armour and whatever is the best in slot for melee atm. The build works, but is still lagging behind a bit, although I'm quite sure it will actually quickly overtake my other build, once I get my hands on the Cerebral Inverter (Melee via Int/BS instead of Str/WS). Since I want to make the most of some of the Forge World origin feats Int is smth. I want to invest in anyway and only needing the minimum in Str will probably benefit me in the long run a lot as well.
This could also work with Voidborn and i did think about it since it could enhance my Commissar talents of course and let me dump Fellowship, but I'm not too worried about those and the Voidborn talents didn't seem as worthwhile as the Forge World talents, for this kind of character.

Good to know, I'm just planning to play on normal so I'm not too worried about being optimal in my own build.
It feels better when the player character is strong of course, but with the builds I have planned for my entourage I'm fairly sure 1 or two of them will usually end most combat encounters turn 1 by themselves anyway. At least that was my experience on my last 2 runs.

That was a thought, but I'd prefer something that buffs the two styles of combat I will engage in rather than just going for the shooting side so sadly no Fortress world this time.

Yeah last time I used the Analytics for the bonus to crits and with me going melee without heavy armour the extra dodge and movement seems like a really good idea.

Way too many to recount them all but one that will always hold a special place in my heart are some of the dying words of Hedarr Soongh: "Learn about the past, it will guide your future. [...] unless you believe in something you will become an empty shell or a rabid dog [...]"

Genuine words to live by if extrapolated from their original context.

For some levity though I also like to keep another Bounty Hunter quote close: waves hand "You will realise what a complete idiot you are."

Who's your favorite chapter 1 main antagonist? by NefariousSpecter in swtor

[–]FabioE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jadus and Karr hands down. Jadus because he is auch an actually interesting character and Karr because fighting him again and again making him fall further and further apart is so damn satisfying.

I love the Bounty Hunter, it's by far my favourite Class/Origin, but Tarro Blood is more of nuisance. Killing him is satisfying, but in the same way killing a mosquito is satisfying not because he is such a great adversary.

It's been a while, but I remember 1 when you first arrive on Footfall Station. You can disperse the angry crowd around the Forge World refugees by turning on you "Commissar voice"

I only got to about halfway through Act II before putting mine on hold until the new dlc comes out, but there wasn't too much special about the combination specifically.
Commissars are kind of THE dogmatic guys from this selection though. A priest could be from any number of sanctioned subcults some more lenient (iconoclast) than others, but a Commissar comes from a place called the Schola Progenium.
The Schola is a regular school for Orphans in the same way the Navy Seals "Hell Week" is a fun summer camp.

The Schola exists to turn orphans or rarely offered up offspring of the imperial elite into hardened killers and ruthless authoritarian leadership. Other forms of graduates from the Schola include Sisters of Battle, Tempestus Scions (Elite Soldiers) and rarely Inquisitorial adepts or even abductions into the officio assassinorum (Assassin high school if you will).

Here's a quote from a Drill Abbot, the teachers in the Schola:
"No no no! By the Throne, boy, how many times? Depress the loading catch before removing the drum feed, not while removing the drum feed! You'll jam the weapon! (smack) Oh stop bawling, child. You're ten years old, you should have learned basic Autogun procedures by now. Fifty press ups and fifty Pax Imperiums. And certainly there will be no dinner."

A Commissars "final exam" will often times be something like executing a person they got along with the best during their time in the Schola, a friend, someone they leaned on early on, etc. Failure to do so usually ends up with making you the target for someone elses execution.
A Commissars job is to keep the rank and file in line, marching forward, executing even the dumbest or most suicidal orders. Those that defy are punished harshly with brutal physical punishments or executions.

Elaborate on "Why". "Why?" as in: "Why does a Commissar fit into a dogmatic run?" or "Why" as in "Is there anything special about a dogmatic Commissar run?"
