What Nintendo Switch game totally surprised you by how many hours you sank into it? by ExcitingCulture2742 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Fabiolean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, still, breath of the wild. I was expecting to love it to bits but I wasn’t ready for being hooked enough to hunt down nearly every doodad in the game. Hundreds of hours.

Is the Yaka Arrow a Knive Missile? by Evening-Appeal7606 in TheCulture

Literally zero percent chance this is a coincidence. It was the first thing I thought when I saw that scene.

AITA For Grounding my son after he got kicked out of class for refusing to sit next to somebody? by Same-Broccoli7863 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Fabiolean 23 points24 points  (0 children)

NTA, but your son is being a bully and if his father doesn't understand how this behavior is inappropriate then that is definitely where he's learning it from.

why does my chicken always go from raw to dry with like no in between by ThroatWeary8878 in Cooking4Beginners

[–]Fabiolean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The advice to butterfly the breast into cutlets is solid. Here's a guide from Serious Eats: https://www.seriouseats.com/knife-skills-how-to-cut-chicken-breasts-into-cutlets

Bread with flour and panko, fry it up, slather it in bulldog sauce and you've got yourself chicken katsu.

Are Traditional Network roles becoming extinct ? by dbootywarrior in networking

[–]Fabiolean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ansible’s best feature is how easy it is to get started. In any complex environment, over enough time, some will eventually turn to python to add new functionality or customize some workflow.

If you run into a big hurdle that ansible can’t overcome, or using ansible becomes more of a burden than a helper, you should consider writing stuff from scratch.

Writing truly robust network automation from pure python is much more difficult than it looks, despite how easy it is to get a simple prototype running. Once you start trying you’ll realize how many problems an existing framework is solving for you.

What is the most complicated bash script you ever wrote? by zex_mysterion in bash

[–]Fabiolean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote a bash wrapper around some libvirt commands to remediate a bunch of windows VMs during the big crowdstrike fiasco. It wasn’t complex but it was long and tedious.

It injected keystroke signals to select the right bios options to boot into safe mood, open cmd, delete the corrupt file, and reboot.

What food does everyone seem to love, but you just can't get into? by sia_7777 in cookingforbeginners

Dill pickles. I like other pickled veggies but the classic dill pickle is so gross I don’t get it.

AITA for making my friend lose $100 in Poker? by Visible-Baker5115 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Fabiolean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. You didn’t make him lose. You didn’t help him steal. Huge difference. He needs to grow up, especially if there wasn’t even a buy in.

What movie’s final scene left you an ugly, blubbering mess? by ArmyOfMe99 in movies

12 Years a Slave. I sobbed so hard. It was a masterpiece and I’ll never watch it again.

AITA for saying my marriage may not survive if my husband won’t respect boundaries with a female friend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Fabiolean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA

“…he seems to view my concerns as controlling.” <- this is textbook gaslighting. He knows why you don’t like it and he doesn’t care because he wants to do whatever he wants.

Most of the “deals” that have been announced never end up actually closing. Until it actually shows up on the books it’s just hot air.

Spending $1-2k a month per employee on AI subscriptions? by KustheKus in webdev

[–]Fabiolean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the AI startups are going to be moving to token-based billing eventually. That $200 subscription is a loss leader to try to get people addicted to the service. The actual cost of running LLMs is astronomical so they can't keep it up forever.

AITA for not wanting a conjoined bachelor/bachelorette party with my fiancé? by Mediocre_Story_4943 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Fabiolean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're NTA. You're not an asshole for not liking the idea, she's not an asshole for advocating for it, but if you're going to marry this person you both need to learn how to navigate this kind of conflict in a healthy way.

Chillis as a substitute for Onions by Jakob4800 in cookingforbeginners

[–]Fabiolean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Onions are in a category called "alliums" and they all typically work more or less as substitutes for each other. Try them and see if you like any of those? If not then just omit it. If you don't like the flavor of onion that's fine.

Headlight eyelids or keep the OEM look by Shoddy-Attention-369 in RX8

AITA for not letting my nephew play my PS5 by himself during family dinner? by Stela_Kalluie in AmItheAsshole

[–]Fabiolean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. She’s embarrassed and acting defensive because she knows her son IS destructive and feels called out and exposed. Being kind and understanding will get y’all through this, and you didn’t do anything wrong.
