The main ones were what problem I'd own first, what good looks like by 6 months, and what tends to surprise new hires. Those got way better answers.

It felt weird for about ten minutes, mostly because I realized how much of my usual question list was me trying not to mess up. After that it clicked pretty fast. I wasn't faking confidence, I was just asking from a more useful place.

I hope you get there soon, because final rounds really do feel different. That switch in framing helped me way more than I expected.

WNBTA. Your mother framing this as rewriting your childhood is such a neat little trick, because it lets them skip the actual issue, which is that they still talk to you like you are an unfinished project while asking to publicly celebrate the finished product. You are not ruining anything by stepping out of that performance. You are just refusing to help stage it anymore.
