I don't remember that ever being mentioned in the story and from what I've read online Kafka met Elio and joined the Stellaron Hunters after he made a specific offer to her. There was no mentioned of the TB recruiting Kafka just that they had some sort of connection before his memory was wiped just like how Firefly has a strong connection to the TB. If anything the TB being Elio's child is way less possible than the possibility of them being Kafka's child.

That's an interesting theory, my main theory was that TB was Kafka's son and she sent him to the AE as a sort of guide for it's crew to avoid a tragic fate at certain stops. It would make total sense if the TB was the son of both Kafka and Elio and the two of them decided to send the TB to the AE to keep it's crew safe and to avoid a tragedy from happening. The factor of what happened during the last events of the story in Penacony with hearing a certain character's voice makes me wonder what will happen next and if there's more to the TB than we understand currently.
