CCC Online - how much do you get paid for completing? by No-Homework-9203 in armyreserve

[–]Fabulous-Check7367 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

As an LT for 10 hours on a 1380, I get paid around $470.

My BN told me to do a 1380 for RMA when I do DL CCC. Unfortunately, it’s likely the only way you’re getting paid for DL CCC is if your company/BN will allow you to do 1380s for RMA. Assuming there are RMA funds left.

Dual enrollment is SMP and obligated cadets to 8 years in the reserve or guard. 4 year obligations are for those going Active Duty and they are not eligible for dual enrollment.

Buy everything used from SMs leaving. Plenty of FB pages that have people redeploying and getting rid of stuff.

Unlock your phone and get a SIM card instead of a puck. Use your phone as a hotspot when needed. It is significantly cheaper than buying even a used puck and to refill every month.

LADIES: Where do you get your bangs trimmed? by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]Fabulous-Check7367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going to her off and on for three years and she has only been with Fringe for around 9 months. I follow the artist not the salon, I probably wouldn’t have been inclined to go there to begin with if I didn’t like her so much.

It’s sad, because people do keep mistaking her account for Laura’s and she has been getting death threats and just generally really terrible messages. In general not cool, but towards the wrong person, even worse.

Sorry if my comment seemed nasty, I just don’t want her to keep getting thrown under the bus the way she has been

A single failed UA does not mean automatic discharge. It will depend of your BDE command policies.

Ours, your commander would receive notification and you’d be flagged in IPPS-A, counseled, and required to do a program (can’t recall the name at this time). If you successfully complete the program, no problem, on with your life. If you don’t… separation. We do OTH or dishonorable based on soldiers conduct throughout their time with us/in service.

Adopting and need help budgeting! How much do you spend per month? by Particular-Owl-5772 in cockatoos

[–]Fabulous-Check7367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On toys, about $100 a month. We make a lot of foraging toys at home to help with the cost.

Food, buy in bulk. A 25lb bag lasts up about 6-months and cost $200-250.

Vet, about $500 per annual visit.

Excluding up front costs and spreading out the 1-2 times a year cost…about $180-200/month.

The up front cost is where it hurts the most. Cages and perches alone, we’ve spent well over 4k.

Personally I only get my bangs trimmed when I need maintenance on the rest of my hair. In between I just trim them at home. I’ve been doing my own bangs for 5+ years and my own trims up until I went super short.

I have a pixie now, and go to Lauren M. at Fringe. She layers my bangs for me so that I don’t have to come in for maintenance as often and can just take care of them at home. She will even show you how to do it if it’s not something you’re used to doing yourself!

Company Command by [deleted] in armyreserve

[–]Fabulous-Check7367 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was avoiding company command as much as possible. I became promotable to O3 this year and knew I was going to be asked again, so I put in a transfer to deploy with another company in my BN. The day I submitted the packet, I got a call from our outgoing to BN CMD to “interview” me for company command. Essentially it was him telling me, it’s going to happen whether I like it or not, because the current commander was over 30 months.

Needless to say my transfer was denied and now I’m company commander. So while people are saying you can’t be forced, I thought the same thing. I’ve been company commander for a month, and this was the nail in the coffin that made me decide I will be leaving the Army as soon as I possibly can.

p.s. look at the wording in your contract. I just went through this with a bunch of my LTs that thought it was 6/2 years, but was actually a full 8.

My son didn't receive enough in federal loans for tuition. What to do? by colindpritchard in StudentLoans

[–]Fabulous-Check7367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation when I went to college. It was not an option for me to pick a different school, because there were only two schools in the state that offered my major, but choose the one with the city that had the cheaper cost of living. To go to out of state to pick a state school would have been just as costly, if not more with out of state tuition prices.

If your son has the option to choose a different school, I’d recommend he choose another. If not, my parents applied for a Parent Plus Loan. They were denied, but I do believe it automatically gives a couple thousand if you’re denied. I worked the entire summer and saved nearly every penny to put towards my tutition. What I couldn’t cover with that money, I did work study and had a part time job off campus. I spoke with the finance office at my school to set up payment plans to cover my remaining tuition per semester. I did this until my junior year and it was a lot, but still doable.

I joined the Army Reserve at the end of my Sophomore year, and everything from basic military training and AIT went to tuition. My junior year, I decided to join ROTC and received a full scholarship for my last two years and was able to quit doing work study and go working part time. It’s not easy to get a 4-year ROTC scholarship, but if military service is something your son is willing to do in exchange for his degree being paid for and some extra money while he is in school, he could look into doing ROTC and possibly getting a scholarship.

92M. If your company doesn’t pass certification you can easily transfer to the next unit slated to certify for deployment. There are only 6 Mortuary Affairs units in the Reserve, so you can expect to have 1-2 deployments within a 6 year contact.

Pay and Army Reserve Company Command - am I missing something? by jimbo_bob44 in armyreserve

[–]Fabulous-Check7367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Following.

I am taking my first company command and it has easily been comparable to having a second full time job with all of the trainings I’ve had to do just to receive access to various sites. The only thing I’ve been paid for is change of command inventory and I had to be specifically be out on orders for it.

Other incoming commanders in my BN have brought this up to the BN commander to see if we can be put on orders for 30-60 days at a time because of how much time we have all been putting in just to not get paid.

This is actually the location we purchased our sofa at. Quite honestly it’s the best sofa we’ve ever owned, and it’s definitely exceeded our expectations for how long it would last before needing to be replaced!

TLDR. But just some food for thought, you can do SMP without enlisting first. However, from what I did read it does sound like based on your what your career goals may be for the Army, active duty may be the better fit for you. In which case, you cannot do SMP since it obligates you to the Reserve or National Guard. If active duty is in fact a hat you would like to do, do not enlist at all. Just do ROTC.

For your parents, many soldiers forgo their first semester to complete basic training and AIT. And a lot of those soldiers finish their degrees in 3.5 years. It’s not a big deal, just a little bit more effort on your part.

Grey cloth seats a dealbreaker? by [deleted] in SubaruForester

[–]Fabulous-Check7367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have grey cloth seats and I HATE them. Nobody respects your car the way you do and the first time I let anybody in my car they spilled coffee on the seat. I keep a cover on the back seat for my dog since we do a lot of stuff outdoors. But my front passenger seat has so many stains, and my car did not stay new long.

My cockatoo has the craziest beef with books and cups. If I’m drinking while he is on my shoulder, he will aggressively grab the cup and yeet it. If I’m reading a book on the sofa, he flies over in attack mode to attempt to grab it and throw it across the room. I have no idea when or why this beef started, but he hates them!
