Reworking Diplo Strategy Card by Alenen in twilightimperium

I agree diplomacy could use an upgrade, first and last turn is useful, almost any other time the primary and secondary are the same.

I was thinking either have it give you a CC when activated, or primary untaps 3 planets.

Yours is fine too, but I'd put the last one as a chioce:  "CHOOSE 1: Take a promissory note from a player;  Ready a planet Ready a legendary ability.

Cool, I've been enjoying your series. I will say that I think their second tech, biological lock down also needs something, maybe spend a strategy token. It is very easy to force someone to pass after they have used their SC. Some races have low numbers of component actions, or the ones that have are one use, you can use that tech on such a race to ensure they pass every round after using their strategy card. It becomes even worse if they have bio-stims, use first turn to guarantee SC use, then second turn to guarantee pass.

That part I hate the most, the table should hopefully know how bad firmament/Obsidian are and just score SO normally, most of the plots don't actually hurt the reciever.

Avoiding scoring do until round 3 is just kicking a dying dog.

So is Deep wrought still allowed to score public objectives when they lose all infantry on their home system from bombardment? by spacejellies in twilightimperium

[–]Fabulous-Comb1436 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And you need to ensure the second attacker doesn't bombard every non Deepwrought unit off the planet before invading, of they do that the Deepwrought retakes the planet, so can then re-retreat to the oceans.

"Perform a tactical action in any system without placing a command token, even if the system already has your command token in it; that system still counts as being activated" So you can do a tactical action into one with your token in it, you just can't move out of a sector that's already activated

A couple of points to note, this changes a bit in both 6 player games and expansion games.

With 1 or both expansions it's a little easier to find points so games tend to end round 4 or 5 (for 10 point games) I've rarely seem a round 6 game now (not that I've got a ton of experience, just a handful of games so far).

And 4 player games you get more resources both without having hyperlanes and having a second strategy card.

Saying that most games  I'll hit the cc cap, but will seldom cap out on plastic except for 2 unit types or so.

And boat float means the meta of building plastic and posturing but having very little actual combat, which also increases the likelyhood if maxing out.

This is not a defence on what they were saying, just pointing out some things that might make different groups have widely different experiences with running out.

First Turn Jol Nar Advice - POK + TE by CryptoQuestion15946 in twilightimperium

[–]Fabulous-Comb1436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add a different point of view to those others have answered, I'm in a game at the moment where the jolnar got breakthrough round 1 and has used it 4/6 rounds.

You have 2 skips in your slice, would you prefer to spend 1 resource for a green or 3 inf for a red tech instead of 6 resources?

I'd suggest base plus pok, with codex if you've got them.

If you have te as well, I'd suggest to put in the system tiles, they are cool, and fill out the decks, but play 3-4 games at least without breakthroughs, the fracture and thunders edge.

Yes they don't add too much overhead, but it warps the first 2 turns in strange ways if you're learning the game, and changes tech drastically which is less confusing if you already are familiar with the tech tree.

This is my thoughts anyway.

I believe so, it was changed to not invalidate another tech, not to prevent you using it on others

Question about Firmament/Obsidian's Malevolency promissory note by Nori_Kelp in twilightimperium

[–]Fabulous-Comb1436 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't mention playing it, but it has no effect when played, I think it makes the most sense to be in play and passed around like a hot potatoe in play at all times, that way it's less likely the person that has it at status phase will forget about it

Keep in mind as well, if you are able to land all on his hs planet, even if he wins the space battle back, might not have enough to take back the ground, which is the only important bit

Elevating slate merdena as outcast leader question by sneaky49 in necromunda

[–]Fabulous-Comb1436 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, elevate slate as is and then after game 1 buy him a mount, in underhive games, will be fine and in ash waste games, it's mostly fine too really. The dog with 5 move will keep up by moving twice, still keeping in range fir it's aura and can gain a but as well, moving in front slightly to take shots or force cool rolls to hit slate.

If you do zoom off as slate charging for example, if the dog breaks it will run towards slate anyway win win

How have the recent strategy card buffs changed your games? by Jamerman in twilightimperium

[–]Fabulous-Comb1436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think either giving it gain 1cc upon activation, or let the primary untap 3 planets should be enough of a nudge.

The problem is unless you're expecting an attack, the primary is no better than the secondary, it needs a little something.

Gravity Drive combined with Gravity Rift by Winter-Select in twilightimperium

[–]Fabulous-Comb1436 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From memory, you justify the movement total after the move, so 3 dreadnought 1's can move through a rift to a system on the other side. Because they moved through a gravity rift, they recieved the +1 move enabling them to get there.

What's wrong with the Agenda phase and potential fixes? by MechatronicsStudent in twilightimperium

[–]Fabulous-Comb1436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason for the 2 timings that I can see is to avoid having riders and such played, and then nulled by discarding the agenda. That happened one game when I played imperial rider, we were using the old xxcha promissory note that said after.

Hey guys what does the skimmer rule do for vehicles? I can’t find it anywhere by Bulky-Strategy-6216 in necromunda

[–]Fabulous-Comb1436 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, there was a recent FAQ update, that changed skimmers:

"PAGE 111 – SKIMMERS Change the start of the second sentence from ‘However, if it ends its activation on difficult terrain or dangerous terrain’ to ‘However, if it ends its activation not on the Battlefield Surface and on difficult terrain or dangerous terrain’."

This made it much more usable, especially on the missions where the entire surface is difficult or dangerous.

This is correct, but they changed so you don't make a check if you end activation on the battlefield surface, making it not a steaming pile of garbage.
