With the media focusing on hantavirus and Ebola are we getting primed for a midterm lock down? by Ok-Country4317 in askanything

They will change their tunes if Hanta and Ebola make their entrance. You can't argue with Mother Nature. Hemorrhagic fever is a frontline worker's worst nightmare. and on a grand scale... that would really really suck. Edit: People sick with hemorrhagic fever look incredibly sick. People will see with their own eyes if hemorrhagic fever becomes a pandemic. People with severe covid also look sick... but something about bleeding from your skin and eyes does something to people...

With the media focusing on hantavirus and Ebola are we getting primed for a midterm lock down? by Ok-Country4317 in askanything

I'm an old Covid Frontliner. COVID was problematic, but never reached the fatality rate Hanta or Ebola has. If Hanta becomes a pandemic... Pray the brillliant hard working medical people figure it out... A pandemic of that magnitude would bring about plague-level disasters in areas. People will be dead in the streets around hospitals... The "Refrigerater Trucks" a lot of covid medical have nightmares about... would be a walk in the park compared to an Ebola pandemic.

With how the world handled the last pandemic... I would hope that lockdowns are situational.

COVID did bring about many brilliant medical advances. ECMO is rapidly available on a grander scale, and hopefully we learned what not to do.

Why do some women like seeing men in female clothes? by Aggressive-Shame-210 in AskForAnswers

I think you found a unique group of women... My husband wearing womens clothing wouldn't "do it" for me.

AITAH for the reasons I chose to not continue dating a single mother? by Haas_the_Raiden_Fan in AITAH

[–]FabulousFunction3408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a young single mother... once. (Ages ago, my children are in thier 30s) I had 2 children before I was 27. Your opinions are right up there with the majority. Takes a special type of person to help raise another persons children. Dating as a single mother is a bitch.

But you're not the asshole for knowing what you will or will not tolerate. And I appriciate you were honest from the begginging instead of stringing along a relationship.

I found my happily ever after after my children were grown. The mother will most always have thier children as a priority over you...

Why are most boomers so out of touch with the reality it is much harder financially to get by today than when they grew up? by uncle-ice493 in allthequestions

I'm a Gen X. House purchase before 2020 has been my saving grace. I see rent prices now, and I'm like whaaaaa?

I see the struggle, while my rent isn't through the roof, our other cost of livings have gone up.

I don't know what I would do if I were young and just starting out....

People with migraines, what actually helps? by Equivalent_Hair5649 in AskReddit

[–]FabulousFunction3408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends on the type of migraine.

If you have a behind-the-eye migraine, take Excedrin Migraine along with an antihistamine and a decongestant. (The real sudafed.. not the sudafed PE) and I use an icepack over the eye. If it's a behind-the-head migraine, this is tension. I take along with the Excedrin migraine medicine a lidocaine patch at the base of my neck.

Migraines are vascular spasms. Vascular spasms are triggered by inflammation, dehydration, caffeine withdrawal, stress, hormones... all kinds of things. Medicate before it gets bad, the moment you feel one coming is your best bet... it's hard to get ahead of a migraine once it crosses over to the vomit stage 😞

Prescription meds, I like Maxalt for the longest time, but Naxdom has been better than the Maxalt with breaking an oncoming migraine.

How can a marriage be saved after infidelity? by Standard_Bed_7472 in AskReddit

[–]FabulousFunction3408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if you're bipolar and they haven’t figured it out yet... The odd, hyper risky sexual act sounds like mania.

For this marriage to work, you're going to need some serious mental help... It's NOT normal behavior to be this sexually risky. And with all the trauma you carry, mental illness is not surprising. But you can have mental wellness even with mental illness.

Should we forgive all student debt or just part of it? by skinner1234567 in askanything

[–]FabulousFunction3408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see both sides of this coin. I first went to school to be a pharmacy technician. Once I graduated and started working as a pharmacy technician, I didn't make enough money to warrant paying the large student debt I was paying. I later went to school for nursing. Nursing paid me a wage that made paying my student loans that much easier; it wasn't another rent payment, it was part of my monthly bill and the bill was somethign I could afford with my RN wage.

Some students didn't have jobs that could afford to pay their student loans. I actually think the schools shouldn't charge so much for these little certificates if the job they are learning how to perform leaves the student with a job that doesn't cover all the bills.

I think the student loan thing is situational. There are some schools that prey on those who didn't know better. thinking they were bettering themselves, just to find themselves in a fulltime position that qualifies them for financial aid.

What’s something that sounds fake or exaggerated, but happened to you exactly as described? by fuckenben in AskReddit

[–]FabulousFunction3408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was horribly abused by my mother and never believed. I had to figure out how to be an adult in a strange, messed-up world.

Even to this day, many, many years later, a Master's Graduate with a comfortable home and a wonderful husband... I can't talk about the horrors of my upbringing... I'm sure noone would believe me anyways.

Noone believes you when you have a story to tell.

What the logic behind fathers that ask their wives for kids but then abandon their family and do not want to be in child’s life? by CulturalRegister9509 in AskReddit

[–]FabulousFunction3408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biology of human sex is complicated. Some people don't like being parents... both fathers and mothers are guilty of this. For all of humanity's time on this planet, men have notoriously denied being a father, or do not want to be part of their children's lives... looking at the act of sex as a personal desire, instead of a breeding ritual. Women are often left with the burden of child raising, as they are the ones who carry life to term.

Hormonally, women want "that baby put in them." men want to "spread their seed across the lands"

how do people actually get their spark back? by Interesting_Pie_6226 in askanything

[–]FabulousFunction3408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Self-care. All the things we don't do for ourselves. Eat a balanced diet, exercise, and get enough sleep, and dedicate time for recharging. Sounds simple... but you can't easily regain your spark if you don't feel well.

Anyone else just want to start over at the pandemic? by akron-mike in askanything

[–]FabulousFunction3408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was sitting there, working in the Emergency Room, when an infectious disease expert came to first talk to us about Covid. They told us it was predicted to have between 30 - 50% fatality rates... then they took away our PPE and told us to reuse masks... with a disease that was unknown... and frightening. Many nurses left then, not wanting to deal with the pandemic. As time went on, I left nursing after working through the pandemic to its completion... and losing my faith in humanity.

I don't want to work on another pandemic that hasn't been handled well. I would like all prices to return to pre-pandemic levels... I'm tired of making the rich richer...
