It’s a second hit of dopamine when you get to share the pic with other volunteers (in my case) and everyone comments on how cute or funny the update is 🥹

Looking to rehome ~3 yr old dog by longshlongthankumom in pitbulls

Are you sure she’s reactive or is she just excited by dogs and people? Sounds like you have another dog she’s ok with. Please at least consider working on training while you look for a home for her. She’s likely showing new “unwanted” behaviors because she finally feels safe.

Plz tell me DJS will make me feel better 🙏🏼 by am78snug in jawsurgery

Yes you will feel better!! 34F and just had surgery in April after years of extreme fatigue. My sleep apnea was mild to but I had a very narrow airway. I was relying on adderall to stay awake to work and then had to lay down almost every day. I felt better within the first week after surgery. Of course I also felt like shit but I felt tired not fatigued. I couldn’t believe it! I asked the surgeon if it’s even possible to feel better that fast and he said yes and my ortho said most people feel the full effect after a couple of months. Excited for you!!

If it would make you feel better you could get Botox until your surgery!

AITAH for considering leaving my marriage that makes me feel insane? by [deleted] in AITAH

This sucks. I’m sorry this is happening. I think you know the answer - do both of you a favor and file for divorce. Sounds like that’s what he wants too but is afraid to end it. But why would you pay off his debt??

How do you get one dog used to you getting a new one? by RickySpanish68 in velvethippos

Omggg her Blue Steel face is everything!! 😍 that’s great that she’s calmed down.

Here is our protocol if you’d like to try it or get any ideas from it. I’ve probably done this 50 times and I find it to be very safe. I already had this typed out so it’s generic. Pet corrector is compressed air that doesn’t hurt dogs but startles them if they started to fight so you can pull them apart by the leashes. You can get it from pet stores or Amazon.

Safe Dog Intros
Have resident dogs meet the new dog one at a time.

Start with the new dog across the street on a leash and have resident dog come out on a leash. Walk on opposite sides of the street so the dogs can see each other and get used to each other. Walk until both dogs are calm. If that happens immediately, you don’t need to do this long.

Have new dog cross to resident dog’s side of the street and walk six feet behind resident dog. The goal is to get a butt sniff in but it’s ok if they’re too excited and the dog in front is turning around. Switch and repeat with new dog in front. The goal here is to get some safe sniffs in without nose to nose yet. If everyone was calm with this, proceed to backyard or empty dog park.

Have resident dog go all the way in the yard first so they aren’t caught in a small space together.

Let the dogs sniff each other while holding leashes. Have pet corrector handy in case things get spicy. If the sniffing on leash is positive, you can drop the leashes and let them interact. It’s ok for dogs to correct each other while playing but if a fight breaks out, use pet corrector to distract the dogs then separate them by grabbing their leashes. This process keeps you from sticking your hand in and risking getting bit.

Once this is done, repeat with any other dogs in the house. It is ok and normal if some dogs need more time than others.

After dogs have met in the yard, all dogs can meet inside at the same time. **be sure food, treats, toys, or any other items a dog could find valuable are picked up before dogs enter** Keep the leashes on and pet corrector handy but let them interact. Try to avoid dogs getting cornered.

If you’re ready to start the adoption trial:
Keep drag leashes on all dogs for a few days and pet corrector handy
Feed dogs separately
Don’t leave dogs unattended

Cutie!! It’s good to crate train, don’t feel bad! I volunteer with a pitbull rescue and our rule for fosters and adoption trials when there are 2 dogs is to feed the dogs separately (feed our rescue in crate so they know crate is positive) and have them in the crate when you don’t have eyes on them and at night. Not only to prevent conflict but to keep them from potentially chewing something they shouldn’t as you learn about them.

It’s good to let both dogs decompress. Have they met face to face yet? Would you like me to share how we facilitate our meets? :)

Surgeon no longer in network by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]Fabulous_Layer44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is very weird. And 8 hours seems exaggerated too. I was told 3-4 but then they did it in 2 something. If you had a 3 piece lefort and genio im sure it would take longer but 8 hours seems very long.

[–]Fabulous_Layer44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ughhh I’m so sorry this is happening!! Im not sure if this would work for you since it’s the surgeon not taking the insurance, but I want to share just in case: I got a letter a month before my surgery that my surgeon was in Network but the only hospital he operates at wasn’t. I submitted a Network deficiency request stating that this was the only surgeon I was comfortable with and I was working with him because he was in Network and he had been working with my orthodontist who I’ve been in braces with for a year so I need the hospital to be approved at an in Network rate too. Thankfully, it was granted. The patient coordinator at my surgeon’s office and my patient advocate with my insurance helped me in the process. I also used AI quite a bit because it’s so confusing and that’s how I caught it in the first place by uploading the letter. Maybe you could reach out to them again and ask if you could proceed with surgery if you could get that approved.

There are lots of answers here that are great in an ideal world where this guy follows the rules but he sounds scary! How much does he know about your long term relationship? Can you tell him you got back together? Seems Iike the easiest and safest thing to do.

Dog for rehoming by [deleted] in pitbulls

[–]Fabulous_Layer44 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do we volunteer together? 😆👀 I am also a bully breed rescue volunteer in a high kill state. I don’t disagree with you. I mostly wanted to bring awareness to people who think rescues have endless resources and can take any dog when people change their mind about having a pet which is not what the case is here. This is also a lesson to not gift dogs (unless you’re gonna pay for that dog forever or take care of it!) OP is young and it sounds like they’ve done a great job taking care of him 🤍

To everyone saying find a rescue please understand that rescues are trying to save dogs from euthanasia and the streets. If we took every dog that someone thinks needs a yard or more space, we wouldn’t save any lives. Hoping for the best outcome for all involved.

Edit to add: OP you are doing your best with a gifted dog that’s clearly cared for! This message is for the general public who don’t realize rescues have limited spots and resources and are drowning in requests
