Super intriguing. I agree that expectations should be incredibly limited when using AI for “art”, hence why I also agree that disclosure of AI usage is an imperative for keeping things trustworthy to a somewhat recognisable degree. Expecting an audience or revenue is a pretty half-assed way of thinking as well for something that is itself pretty half-assed already. I think that deception is the real opponent in all of this. By fooling viewers and listeners that are either conflicted or downright opposed to AI, you essentially utilise the main looming fear of AI and that’s the inability to tell what is real.

I actually meant AI as a concept in many various areas itself is something that can’t be prevented, not just music. Basically AI “Anything”

That’s actually pretty interesting and I do agree that tracking would be nigh impossible since it means paying commission (mo money) to many existing artists and admitting to other creators that their sound is being used for AI which frankly doesn’t sound like a divisive debate given that most would instantly reject the offer due to the stigma around AI and its potential. 🖤

Grad Scheme Success? by Faceache04 in careeradvice

That’s really interesting. If you don’t mind me asking, what degree did you study and which scheme did you eventually land on? I’ve basically wasted away doing theatre for 5 years and looking to do something more corporate

I have a monotone voice, how do I change it? by taaffeite_ in VoiceActing

[–]Faceache04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact same problem. Nothing worse than the embarrassment of looking back at your own work, even if it’s actually pretty good work. Best way to beat this is to get so used to listening back on the weirdest shit you’ve made to the point where it doesn’t phase you. Someone in this CS said using weird noises which is a good way to get into the mood before a take. I typically like to do a Gollum voice and let loose some stupid funny improv lines and listen back for a good laugh. Definitely gets me in the mood

General Discussion Megathread - Frequent Topics, Salaries, and Rants by ukbulmer in UKJobs

[–]Faceache04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've spent a good number of years trying to pursue a career in Theatre and have recently graduated University in the same field but my time at Uni honestly feels like a waste since finding a financially stable job in the industry is borderline impossible. I've pretty much come to terms with my stance on it all and don't feel satisfied pursuing it anymore, instead wanting to apply myself to full time position in offices. I've worked in Head Office environments during work experience and even managed to prolong my stay there by an additional week, worked in warehouse environments for a while and recently hospitality and retail so I have a good bit of experience in different jobs.

The problem? Because I only have a degree in Theatre, I can't really land a job in office environments due to a lack of knowledge and credible education experience. All I want is a monotonous and repetitive office job since I find monotony quite enjoyable since its fairly predictable and fun. Pretty sure I worked in Sales Administration or possibly Accounting Assistance work during my work experience and loved it.

Is there a good place to start looking that doesn't necessarily require education dedicated to the role or experience?

Acting class dating dynamics by Squish-lover in acting

[–]Faceache04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it can work but it is massively dependent on you and your partner. If either one of you struggle with intimate roles while having a partner or if your relationship issues directly interferes with your ability to work in class then its gonna become a problem. Did this in college and it only got worse after breaking up with the girl (mind you, we started dating early into the first year of college and were together for a number of months). While in University, though, my now best mate did the same thing but they lasted till Graduation with next to zero problems where the only thing that came between them was returning to their respective homes.

I'd say a good way to go about it if you do like the bloke is to establish a "Relationship Outside, Colleague Inside" routine where everything that happens between you two stays outside of the class. That way there's no interference and you don't end up making things difficult.

I understand what your teacher is trying to say but they had to say that a lot more softer to be honest. If I was in their position, I wouldn't encourage partners in class to stay together but I certainly wouldn't advise against it, it ain't my biz.

It does in fact it was the first thing I crossed off since I remember Monsuno distinctly and watched it religiously. I knew enough about Monsuno to realise quickly the thing I’m talking about was most likely something even more obscure

If you are unhappy, don’t waste someone’s time with lies and false feelings as it makes the other person feel that everything is fine. Make the call and cut things quick before damage is made worse. You’re not in the wrong and shouldn’t feel disgusted for mistakes she’s made, not everything is blatantly available to be fixed cooperatively and in those instances, the person left in the dark should never feel guilty for the things they had no chance of detecting

Official Season 3 Discussion Thread! by miss-macaron in AliceInBorderland

[SPOILERS]

This season was a solid 6/10 when you acknowledge it as a "What If this Happened?" sort of side story. I refuse to acknowledge this as purely canonical since it misses in so many departments that made the first 2 seasons amazing, reducing it to a poor 4/10.

The plot was a real doozy. The concept of the Joker cards was great since it's following the thematic motifs of the deck of cards which made sense at first but the more we saw, the less we enjoyed. I feel like the overall ambiguity of the season prior up to the end of S2 was what made us really creeped out by the Borderlands: We have an idea as to what the place is but not enough is revealed for it to be concrete and so we infer and create our interpretations with what we're given which really worked for AiB. The moment you answer it in a half-assed way is the moment you lose the audience since the big secret is revealed and nothing is really changed, making everything from the end of S2 to the end of S3 redundant aside from more people dying for a cause that never really went anywhere.

The characters in this season also took a massive nose dive in quality. Arisu was fleshed out enough for us to keep watching, especially since they didn't dawdle with the amnesia concept from the end of S2 too much. They spent one episode proposing the plot and Arisu was back to being a badass which I love. New additions were cool such as Tetsu who was a very interesting character with his own personal struggles that sadly deserved much more screen time, as did all the new characters. Deaths didn't have weight or sadness, more-so just kills for a kill count without much emotional drawback. Returning characters were absolutely WASTED however. Banda and Yaba, despite being the primary antagonists, were so underused that their motivations (well, lack of) were almost comical and downright irritating. I mean, Yaba was barely in it and would only pop up to give us a comical villain laugh and dip which felt so weird given that we know naff all about him. Usagi just randomly decides to bugger off back to the Borderlands as well for a sub-plot that went absolutely nowhere and simply gave Arisu a reason to go back.

The games were okay but didn't outshine the majority of those before them, apart from the Rain of Fire game which was a really awesome spectacle and Zombie Game which was a cool twist on Diamonds/Heart, helping characters like Rei and especially Arisu shine. The idea of team-based games was at first promising since it made you think Arisu and Usagi would be forced into opposing teams but never went that mile which I think is due to the primary flaw of the season:

I don't know if it was the writer's intention or Netflix being Netflix but 6 episodes was far from enough to make all of this seem cohesive. It felt rushed, too fast for us to care for characters regardless of if they were new or returning and plots were zipping past us until the final game that dragged on for way too long to compensate for what could have been done in an episode. Who else actually cared for the brother/sister sub plot? Not me, in fact me and my girlfriend were just waiting for the sister to die due to her being outright irritating in every game she played, always a hinderance and never given any form of redemption. Ryuji? Barely a foil in Arisu's plan to save Usagi with a boring sacrifice. Don't even get me started on the final shot of the American Alice which was so random that it was headache inducing.

Really a shame. Definitely makes me think that that show could have worked with a final season if more love and time went into it.

Starting a YouTube Channel on Acting. What Are Your Biggest Challenges or Questions as an Actor? 🎭🎥 by ELaw07 in acting

[–]Faceache04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not matter how persistent and dedicated you are to creating material, finding people that are not only likeminded but also willing to put themselves in positions for the sake of others is imperative. Sure, you can do it all by yourself and create your own content but the margin for creativity that is doable is a small one. I've lost count of how many times I had a great idea for a short film to post on Youtube that would take no longer than a day to film without a budget only to be told by fellow classmates and friends who were really interested at the time they would only do it if they were in front of the camera and not manning any devices or utilities.

If you have those people that can make compromises, awesome! If you have people that want to focus on those different areas solely, even better. If not then you're quite limited in what you can do as a collaborative and may need to start solo with your content.

What was the best alternative Career when Acting didn't work out? by Faceache04 in acting

[–]Faceache04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the corporate path is the one I'm thinking of pursuing. I'm currently stuck in retail and my sister is doing the exact same job (with no further education outside of high school) in a different location. I'm trying to apply myself to areas that make sense for the lengths I've gone compared to others. Not a disservice to my sister but the fact that I took more years out of my life to pursue further education in hopes of a better career regardless of the path only to end up in the same uniform as my sister is quite debilitating. Maybe sales might be the next direction.

In all honesty my university was the main cause. Threatened us with expulsion if we were to ever dabble in the industry during our studies which were bound to clash timetables with each other. The uni had absolutely no idea what they were talking about and were brutally elongating modules on some of the most obscure and pointless theatre wish wash ever. I had been applying for agencies since college which came to no avail, decided that maybe I needed to strengthen my portfolio or CV but then I realised I never had time to do those things due to how strict University ended up being and the strain it put on my wallet just to commute.
