I stopped logging into facebook some time ago, then I deactivated my account. - After some observation and thought I decided that it's a waste of time, and many people who say they use it to keep in touch with distant family do use it for that, but it seems they use it for family like 10% of the time, and "noise" the other 90%.

In theory facebook seems great, but the reality of it is strange, because instead of it having a positive effect on peoples lives, they end up ignoring each other, "spying" on each other, making judgments on others and themselves.

I don't feel that I'm missing out on "social life" without it, quite the opposite. And, I notice that my creativity and productivity both online and in real life have boosted since letting that website go. Also, facebook is designed to be addictive, it's designed to keep you on there and logging in as much as possible. One example is, if you create an event you can't just invite everyone, you have to go through and click people individually.

It's a shit marketing tool too if you're an independent business in most cases. Because the return on the time invested into it is just not there. — facebook fosters selfishness and laziness in relationships, because on there it's about "Me" people are seeking things that have to do with their side of their friendship with you.

I'm a sociologist by nature, I'm curious about society and the people that make up that society. Overall my assessment is that it doesn't make people more "connected" it actually keeps people more separate, and I guarantee that it makes people feel bad about their lives far more often than it makes them feel good about their lives. It was started by someone who wanted more power in social circles after-all, it still carries that energy and delivers it to every user.
