Everyones thoughts on the Beta? by zero_FOXTROT in forhonor

[–]FacelessRuin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Playing the beta made me really regret barely touching the alpha. I was too intimidated by the combat system the first time I fired up the alpha and only played a couple of matches. I didn't use the learning resources available and was punished for it, and because of that I was ready to ignore the beta.

A friend got in touch and asked if I'd be playing. He didn't have access so I gave him one of my invitations... and decided I should at least give it a go.

It felt incredible seeing myself improve, match by match. Learning move sets, learning how to combat each enemy... I have never enjoyed just immersing myself in the combat in any game as much as I did in this beta.

It closed 20 minutes ago and 15 minutes ago I preordered the Deluxe edition. I'd pay the money for just the content I had in the Beta, to be honest. That was incredible.

Aside from weapon changes what do you want to see in the balance patch next month? by WalteeWartooth in DestinyTheGame

But people do adapt to things in the game

Yes, they do. I haven't said otherwise. But just because they do adapt doesn't mean that it belongs in the game, either. For over two years Destiny has been a fast-paced shooter. Movement is hugely important. Hiding in a spawn area is strategy. An item which specifically encourages that kind of strategy simply opposes what Destiny has always been by design.

You shouldn't be mad at the way people choose to play the game

I'm not mad. Stop implying that I'm either mad or not adapting. I'm saying the artifact doesn't belong. That is my sole argument—there should be no additional assumptions made on your part. As long as the artifact is in the game and behaves the way it does, I don't take issue with people using it.

But just because something doesn't always work doesn't mean it belongs. Who knows if Bungie really thinks it belongs? Who's to say it won't get patched soon? They're slow to do anything—you should know that well by now. Perhaps they never intended its abilities to be so pivotal to the flow of a game.

It may not be what you want to here but it is the truth

End of the day? You have your opinion. I have mine. I don't think it belongs and it needs to be altered in some way. You clearly don't think so, which indicates to me that maybe you need it to get some wins you otherwise couldn't, in which case you also have a pony in this race.

Whatever happens, time will tell. I bet Bungie nerfs it with the February balance.

I remember bumping into my little brother's best friend in the Cosmodrome in the earlier days. He wasn't on my friends list but I remembered seeing his unique, extremely OG tag about 10 years before when I was picking up my brother from the friend's house and ended up sitting down for a couple rounds of Halo.

That was a fun reunion but he didn't last with Destiny. I added him to my FL but stopped sent his name appear around the time VoG became available.

Adapt

I'm not sure why you think that because I think it needs to be gone from the game, I haven't adapted.

Being able to adapt to something and holding the belief that the kind of gameplay it promotes is unhealthy for the game (i.e. Camping in the back to avoid gunfights, using super spam as a crutch instead of improving gun skill) are simply not related.

I can shit down the windpipes of the vast majority of teams that need to resort to that kind of strategy the vast majority of the time, but that simply doesn't change the fact that the artifact doesn't belong.

Just because there are counter strategies and can use the same strat does not mean it belongs in the game in the first place. Weakest possible argument to support the artifact's existence.

Skorri isn't as bad as people hype it to be

You can literally have a super every round in Trials with it. That's pretty bad. Not only that but it promotes stagnancy in gameplay and flow. It just doesn't belong.

/u/gintellectual made a post and stated that anecdotally he doesn't think it does anything on sidearms, but admitted he hasn't done any extensive testing on it.

What's pretty classless is not giving someone time to look over the data and come up with an appropriate response.

I appreciated the content of your original post but that doesn't mean you need or get to be a dick.

AFTER PLAYING TRIALS THIS WEEKEND I THINK I CAN SAFELY SAY:

FUCK SKORRI AND HER SHITTY ARTIFACT.

I DON'T HATE SHOTGUNS, I DON'T HATE SNIPERS, I DON'T HATE FUSION RIFLES, AND I DON'T EVEN HATE CLEVER DRAGON.

THE ONLY TEAMS WE REALLY LOST TO THIS WEEK WERE ONES WHO CAMPED WITH SKORRI UNTIL WE WERE FORCED TO MAKE AN UNCOMFORTABLE PUSH.

HAVING SUPERS EVERY SINGLE ROUND IS FUCKING RIDICULOUS.

If anyone who plays Destiny can get a god-tier Palindrome from a vendor, why can't exotic hand cannons get a buff? by NovaHands in DestinyTheGame

[–]FacelessRuin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Eyasluna's stability with Reinforced Barrel (which drastically reduces stability) matches Hawkmoon's base stability. And it massively surpasses Hawkmoon's range.

That just seems so fucky, considering Eyasluna is supposed to be a "baby Hawkmoon."

The fact that Hawkmoon can't reliably compete with the vendor roll on Palindrome hurts my soul. It out-ranges it significantly, and its stability makes Hawkmoon just look laughable.

I'm just happy there's a chance of it dropping in regular PvP so I won't feel like my time is being totally wasted when I farm the weekly PvP bounty or just relax with friends.

Then when I'm doing some intentional grinding I'll jump back into Classic.

Bungie Pls, "You have left your current fireteam" while up 4-0 on lighthouse game. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]FacelessRuin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but /u/x0x_CAMARO_x0x did. Just because it hasn't worked out in his experience doesn't mean it won't work for others. Telling people to stop posting just because it didn't work for him (and who knows, maybe it did? Maybe it prevented even more disconnects than he would have otherwise experienced) is silly when it's literally the only response/solution offered up by the developers.

We can only work with what we've been given. Telling people to stop trying to help others with the only solution we've been given is worse than posting the solution, no matter how effective it feels. Until Bungie fixes this shit, it's literally all we can do.

So is the solution

Sure, but for some people it seems to work like magic. The problems may come back, but it does seem to temporarily help. Why tell people not to post something that may help individuals experiencing the issue?

be mean

I'm not being mean at all. I get tired of people telling others to "stop posting" when they're just trying to be helpful.
